  1. Definitely a classic this side of the ditch too. I have seen some really good ones go for around 10k But nah I can't see it outrunning the FT86 other than in the appearance stakes. I love the old classics. And yes it is RWD. Neither myself nor my son are big fans of front drive cars.
  2. Well I finally got around to spending a few hours stripping the Celica of some parts in preparation for the restoration job. Firstly I removed the battery then the coil & igniter (ex late Hi-Lux) Out came the accelerator cable (SV21 Camry), clutch cable, choke cable and the wiper motor and water jets. Next came the radiator, battery cradle, some other small parts until it got to be too dark to see. Then I pushed it back into the shed. I have to get started a lot earlier in the day. I hope next weekend is a better story.
  3. The key and remote to the family 'taxi'. A house key that needs to be jiggled and shaken to make it work in the lock. A Bundy Bear Foot keyring that my dad gave me in the early 90s. (Can't even think of parting with that.) And my favorite - The key to the dream project car. RA28 w/- 18R-G. (May be sold but keys will need to be pried from my cold dead hand first)
  4. So shattered that I was not there for the fun. At home since Wednesday with the flu AAAAGGHH Thought it best not to share.
  5. Hello and welcome to the club Hayden. I feel certain that any info you need regarding the Aurion is available from the members here. Hope you find what you need 01 VEY
  6. Welcome to the club mate. There's heaps of willing and knowledgeable guys to offer any advice you may require. Who'd have thought a starlet could look this good. I am sure you will not disappoint with the latest edition. Don't forget to keep us up to date with pics of your mods
  7. Been really busy lately. Any news??
  8. This has to be the best parody yet Please don't give up just because of the title
  9. Occasionally there has been a good 18RG for sale on ebay. Maybe I am a bit biased toward them but if you can get a good one with injection that can be an easy swap and loads of fun. Since the Coronas and Celicas of the era came out with the 18R there would be little to change to make it work. Lots of people lean toward t 2JZ or similar as they are a fairly compact motor. Good luck finding one though. If you go for a Commodore motor try to get a late Alloytec motor as they are heaps lighter. Rotary?? I must say I admire the sentimental streak in you. Definitely get rid of the Starfire though
  10. On the score of the Toyo's I have had Toyo Proxes 235/50x17s on a Falcon and they were IMHO a reasonable all round good package. Depending on the performance you require most tyre companies offer specific tyres to suit your driving style so the noise thing will come down sometimes to the model of tyre you choose. The depth of sidewall will also affect road noise levels as there will be less of the wall to flex and absorb the imperfections in the road surface. As for the rim size the link below gives a guide to the wheel V tyre profile and width to enable you to choose a tyre size which will not adversely affect the speedo http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Now to the rims - I like the REX. Too many cars have rims like the Osakas But that all comes to personal taste
  11. Hey guys I have been a bit distracted lately and have not managed to get anything done on the 28 project as yet. I had a Panel Beater come over to have a look and he says the bonnet and hatch are not worth repairing. As a result I am in need of both to complete the job. I am willing to pay decent money for rust free straight parts. These may not be needed for a month or two but are definately on my shopping list. The rest of the body has very little rust and is straight(except for the Commodore imprint in the passengers door)and the floor pan is clean as a whistle. Please help. I really want to get this car back on the road ASAP. Hopefully this year. Currently there is a bonnet on ebay form Sydney but it says there are rust holes in front lip. Sorta like my one. Thank you in advance for any helpful suggestions
  12. Hey welcome to the club. I know nothing about Ravs but believe that most Toyota vehicles have a reputation for reliability. If there are any known problems with them someone here will let you know. Nice Audi. What caused it to be "lost"
  13. Can't believe this was nearly eight years ago
  14. Wasn't too bad for me. I bought a set of mags for the Celica (see avatar) a set of tyres for a stock 2000 Laser and two sets of BFG all terrain T/A's for a mate. Disappointing but when spread across the whole deal it was still a lot cheaper.
  15. I had a similar thing with my wheels Definitely sucks when they pick at random and it happens to be you. I queried the customs dept and they said it must be paid.
  16. Talking about a Rolla SUV reminds me - Has anyone seen a Tercel around lately. It's been years since I spotted one.
  17. you have blown a fuse... check the fusebox. Better idea. Definitely see fuses first. Brain not functioning too well because of only 3 hours sleep last night.
  18. Second pic is awesome. Your bro got skills
  19. Yeah - Console out but before you do take the negative battery terminal off. Make sure you have the radio reset codes though.
  20. Black on black always. Charcoal???? Hmmm
  21. I am able to buy through my boss the Bosch Iridium plugs for around $14.00 each. I would be happy to pass these on to Brisbane area club members as long as it didn't get to be too many requests for them. Bosch Aust only have about 20 in stock now so if you want you had better be quick. Please PM if you need Regards Mark More are on the way from Germany apparently.
  22. Speaking from a personal viewpoint I would like to have something like this available but the logistics for the editor and the others involved would be a bit heavy going unless you had a lot of spare time on your hands. I would be happy to pay a bit extra to receive it when or if it became a reality. I would not mind making a few 'tech' reports to fill a small column occasionally if I was asked to. Kudos for the idea and I hope that it works out in the affirmative.
  23. No no no to the blue ring. Toooooooo tacky. All black or maybe chrome trim.
  24. U have to resurface the rotors everytime to eliminate the unevenness of the surface due to the transfer of the previous pad material. Just make sure the rotors aren't under the minimum thickness. If u don't resurface/machine them, then u will get vibration when braking with the new pads Also pads get a glazed surface which will cause them to squeal like little pigs when you step on the brake pedal.
