  1. Try calling these guys if you decide to get a new one. Not sure if they keep parts for cars from the 90's but you can try. If not someone there should be able to point you in the right direction. http://www.sssauto.com.au/contactus.php Hope this is useful.
  2. No way. To err is human...To really stuff things up. Well that takes a computer. I don't remember where that quote is from but it seems appropriate.
  3. Please send some my way. Or at least let us all know what is.
  4. Thanks for all the work that is put in on the site. I have seen the stress that our I.T. guy at work goes through keeping the AEA site going. It's more than I could handle so I am happy that someone cares enough to sort all the behind the scenes things. Once again thanks heaps.
  5. The one in Donnybrook is now gone from the yard where it was . Sorry if I raised our hopes. Good luck with the build.
  6. Hey there fellow Celica nut. I too am seeking some panels but on the east coast. I trust you find what you need I met a guy in Donnybrook who saw one nearby which may be for sale so I will ask where it is and let you know. The distance from Brisbane is a bit much otherwise I would have bought it myself.
  7. Jim's in Wing St at Wingfield is usually busy which is always a sign of a good tradesman. He deals mainly with trucks and heavy machinery. I am unsure if he has all the latest diagnotic tools but he cares about his work and is thorough. Give him a call. At least he will put you on to someone who can help if he is not able to. He seems to know almost everyone in the A/E industry down there. If he can't help go next door to #93 and ask for Lance. I am sure he would have a fair idea who would be worth trying. I don't think either work on Saturdays though. Hope this helps.
  8. We welcome anyone no matter where they come from. Even those who are confused about which state they live in. To help clear this up please let us know which footy team you support!
  9. I am unsure if there are already holes for a globe holder but if there are just go to a wrecker and find one that fits. If you want stop/tail function you will need to take the appropriate one for the twin filament globe. Make sure you get it from a similar model Toyota to match the wire colors. That will make it look a little more legitimate Remove a small portion of the insulation from the rear harness in your car and join the wires in for the new ones. Usually the best method of tapping into an existing harness is to 'twist & solder' the join and then use insulation tape to cover the complete area where you joined it in. There is a dodgy way to do this job but I won't elaborate on that. If in doubt remove any panels from in the back of the boot that cover the globe holders and take it to an auto electrician and ask if they can fit the job in. It should only take a few minutes to do but expect to be charged for about a half hour as this is the usual minimum fee. P.S. It is normal etiquette to introduce yourself to people you meet before you ask their advice. This is the recommended procedure on this and most of the forums I have visited. You may want to go back and have a go at the intro.
  10. Really awesome Stewy. After a marathon effort like that you deserve to have it on the road. It took a couple visits to mechanic to get our Tonner regd so I know the relief you must be feeling.
  11. I can picture it now... Sideways at 180kph weaving the middle eastern magic through peak hour traffic in Dubai.
  12. Mudmen - Animal I don't normally encourage the use of bagpipes. But these guys seem to pull it off quite well
  13. Maybe try a Nissan forum! Even better Buy a Nissan and add the SR20
  14. Gotta love them pootas. Looking great there Loki. Once it has the paint done it will look the awesome.
  15. Welcome. Sit back and enjoy - or take part and benefit yourself and others while you're at it
  16. Hey guys if we all decide to stop posting on this thread maybe it will slip into oblivion. That will take a short 24 hours
  17. Don't watch if you have a heart condition. Pretty cool though
  18. There can be a problem if the current draw for the stereo exceeds the output from the alternator. Most cars are designed and released with an alternator which has an output enough to cover for the standard lighting, accessories and of course to keep the engine running. Having the alternator working at peak output would seriously compromise the life expectancy of any unit . My son bought a stereo, amplifier and sub which combined had a current requirement of about 75 maps at peak volume. The original alternator for a HQ tonner was a mere 35 amp and being in the industry I bought a 110 amp Land Cruiser unit to fit before the stereo was added. For the AE92 there may be a unit from a later Camry or Cruiser which may fit but I have never been asked to search for something suitable. I had a quick look and could not see one that would be an easy fit but something from a 2003+ Hi-Lux or maybe even a 90's V6 Accord may be adapted to work without a lot of hassle. These would give 100 and 110 map respectively. Useful if you have a nuclear grade stereo reactor on board
  19. Sounds like there may be a problem with the alternator. It may be just the regulator which should cost about $60.00 for either a Bosch or Denso one. PM me with a number from the label on the unit and I should be able to get something for you at the wholesale rate. The reg may cost even less than this. Regards Mark
  20. Any chance of audio clip. Maybe get someone to do a sound recording to upload so we can hear what goes on.
  21. I am unsure which TV show it was on but recently there was a 'blind' test conducted with 3 identical cars (Hyundai I30) for fuel economy for each of the three fuel octane ratings. They also threw in a diesel for good measure but I think the purpose of the test was to compare petrol economy. The test was conducted under controlled conditions on a race circuit. The cars were run until the fuel tank was empty then they were refilled with the same amount of fuel in each. The test was run with 3 litres of each fuel in all the cars. Then they were driven until empty. On the second run the E10 came in with the lowest kilometers per litre and dollar meaning that it would cost more to drive the 1000 km using E10. The next best was 95 with a bit better economy based on both litres and cost By far the best result for economy was the 98 premium. I have searched on the respective TV web sites but have not been able to find the video. I have a copy on my DVR at home which I can e-mail to you tonight if you want. PM if you want to see it This has convinced me to switch to premium for all my cars no matter what trip I am doing.
