  1. Ask any decent exhaust shop and they will tell you that the cat on a 2zz is more than enough for the engine. It is of a good design and does actually flow quite well. Compare it to a cat off a 3.8 V6 Commodore shape wise and you'll see that it wouldn't be hard to flow more. High flow cat is certainly not worth the cost for the gain which is about zippo on a N/A car. And as for the front row seat you will get for the Policeman's ball(rather expensive ticket) you hope that the drinks are included in the ticket price
  2. sounds nasty Azza better go and see a doctor :P
  3. yes the acceleration is more fluid and the engine response is better. Pratically you have a dinamic aspiration and always with a fresh air, instead of the cai that give you warm air when you are in the traffic (for example B) ) So what stops your pipe from sucking hot air in traffic? Cause isn't it in the same place as a proper CAI
  4. Ok boys it looks like they will be ready in roughly 2 odd weeks. they couldn't give me an exact date but said it would be done as soon as possible. We are dealing with a very large company that does large volume orders and we are not asking for 1000 of these panles so we have to sit tight and be patient. I will call them regularly to see how we have progressed in the job queue. Cheers SB. Will let know know of any info as soon as I get it:)
  5. What and be like every other car on the road. Thanks but no thanks. Like to be a little original and love the element of surprise!! Ask a certain XR6 turbo ute owner near my house
  6. If your breaking heavy duty clutches in a Sportivo then it certainly ins't the amount of power your developing but more so your driving style. If you keep going heavier in the clutch dept then sooner or later it'll be the gearbox that'll be giving up. Much rather tone my driving style down than be paying Toyota an arm and left nut for a new gearbox :D
  7. Slow day at work Mark..... :P good work mate :D
  8. Weapon R headers aren't all that they are cracked up to be. Have a read on Newcelica.org and hear the whinging about how much they cost for no or little gains. Also it's better to keep your car legal as far as rules are concerned cause you never know when the boys in blue are gonna pull you over for a friendly look see at your car. 2.5" exhaust not 2.25" as 2.25 is very close to what the Sportivo has stock. Ported stock headers(forum sponsor has them) combined with catback and intake with decent filter will yield good results. It's the little things that are overlooked that also make a difference. Which oils to use in gearbox/engine that don't drain power to be pumped around. Spark plug settings, cleanliness of fuel lines/throttle body and injectors(for cars that are getting highish in km's). Don't forget fuel quality as the 2zz is sensitive to the different octane levels you can buy. They love 98/100octane fuel!! Then you have some additives for your engine that I label "horsepower in a bottle" that have dyno proven gains. there are heaps of things you can do but you have to A) fork out the money to do it and B) don't listen to anybody who hasn't attempted any of the mods your looking at or doesn't have them on their car. As for people who own for instance a 180sx(not picking on your mate at all) they have no idea about a 2zz or how it works. It's real easy to make gains on a F/I car but not so on a N/A car. Listen to the right people and don't just take the opinion of the first so called expert you come across who suggests a huge list of named brands that will cost you the earth adn have been known to be less than impressive in the gains dept. You have got a lot of people on this forum with a wealth of knowledge and experience with regards to N/a vehicles and how to make power increases. PM them and ask the relevant questions as I"m sure they will be more than happy to help you out in your quest for the ever elusive KW :D
  9. Will have the word tomorrow as the guy I am dealing with has been away sick and i don't want to deal with anybody else due to fear of it getting stuffed up!! cheers SB:)
  10. 2" is too small for 2ZZ exhaust. That will be costing you power. Is this dyno a hub dyno or roller style dyno?? 192 hp stock is close to what they make at the flywheel not the wheels. You should have over 200hp at the flywheel but as your graph suggests the exhaust is killing it big time top end hence the dip in power. Change your exhaust to 2.5" and you should see a marked improvement in power. Also is he runnning it to the limiter? Cause 2ZZ make power to the limiter. Hope this helps. Cheers SB :D
  11. No show for me this week too guys as I"m going away up the coast Friday for the weekend so I'll be packing etc for an early get away friday morning. Have fun!!
  12. Will be chatting to the company tomorrow about time frame for completion etc etc so hopefully some more news then.
  13. MMMM sounds like a 2zz that i heard about in Sydney :P :P But seriously today on the way to work I was buzzed by an IS200 with the ol' 19 bling blings and dumped on it's gutz with a very large intercooler in the front. Was tempted to give him a go but the wife had spotted it and all I heard was"don't even think about it". Geez I wish I could travel alone to work sometimes.... the amount of fun I have had to forego :( Thought You'd like the sound of this IS200 Badboyz....
  14. Nice job there kids!!! Great turnout despite the crappy NSW weather :P :P :P Thats dedication for ya!! Good to see a couple of older Rolla's as well :D
  15. I'm out due to being involved in crewing for my mates car for Jambo. Also have every weekend full up for October with another drag meet at the end of October as well. Too busy this time of year!!! Besides it's more fun watching Mazda's lunch themsleves from the grand stand where my car won't get splattered in oil
  16. That time was with my granny shift into second due to the quality Toyota second gear synchro I had that doesn't like to work above 6000rpm without making some rather uncomfortable noises. But it and 5th gear and 6th gear are fixed with a new clutch and pressure plate so I guess i need to go for a trundle again and see what happens....
  17. 2ZZ manifold is totally different to 1ZZ. So the only part of the 2ZZ system you can really use is from just after the collector back. :D
  18. yeah do it mate cause it's pretty annoying with people saying that they saw someone on such and such a street but that member lives in Sydney not Brisbane cause both cities have a street of the same name.
  19. With the amount of Corolla owners in Sydney and outer suburbs it would be embarrassing if you guys couldn't get at least 15-20 cars without inviting other forums. For those who don't want to go on the dyno because you have done nothing to your car since your last run....booo hoooo. Just do it again and have fun with everyone else. We have had people do runs year after year with no additional mods but do it to support the event and get involved to have fun!!!! This year in Qld we had just over 30 cars for the dyno day with 25 of them being members of this forum with Corolla's!! We also had some members who turned up but didn't compete due to missing the entry cut off!! So C'mon Sydney boys/girls get off your butts and get behind it. trust us boys/girls north of the border it is a lot of fun to compete in and a great social event to have a chat with other members. If the Dyno shop won't do food then get someone to organise it from here. Put a charge of say $5 per person and that should be enough to get drinks and food and eat as much as you like. Whoever is organising this event wants some advice/help on how to do it in any way then PM me as I'm only too happy to help!! Cheers SILVABULLIT. :D
  20. Given that both cars weigh relatively the same and have the same suspension the comparison between the 87V and the 88V ratings is sweet bugger all. You won't have any problems with insurance as they are genuine Toyota rims and comply with transport dept rules as far as going to bigger rim. 1 inch wider and 1 inch taller in diameter is the ruling as far as I"m aware and the load rating and speed rating of the stock Sportivo tyre(turanza's) is almost the saema sthe stocko 15's. If it's an issue that worries you then change the tyres on the sportivo rims to something that has 88V rating.
  21. I've had the pleasure and will never forget meeting the legend Peter Brock on about 5 different occasions. I have the upmost respect for the man for what he has achieved and how he goes about his business. nothing was ever too much trouble for him and he was happy to sit and sign autographs for hours on end as I just sttod there after getting stuff signed and observed the manner of the legend and how he greeted everyone with respect. All my signed posters and other bits and pieces now hold even more value to me and prolly to others as well. REST IN PEACE KING OF THE MOUNTAIN......
  22. Happy birthday mate. Well it didn't quite go to the plan we talked about this morning but hope it ends well and tomorrow is even better.
  23. Updated list as of Today. Will check bank account for deposit from Xploshun tomorrow. Cheers Silvabullit.
  24. If you want to buy a decent buff be prepared to spend at least $250 plus to get one with usable speed settings as well as being safe and comfortable to use. The buff I have is a Black and Decker Industrial and cost me $580 about 10 years ago. The only thing I have done to it was replace the brushes about 18 months ago. It has 12 speed settings and is trigger sensitive so you can spin it really slowly to do some of the more delicate areas. I use the meguairs and 3M foam pads of various applications. Last count I think I had about 6 different pads for different products and uses.
