  1. They seemed to win the MOTOR tyre of the year award, although i don't know how, if you look at all the overall marks it should have placed in the middle of the pack. Personally i cant fault the new Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin's.
  2. Back to the caliper painting, I got a quote for a set of stivo calipers to be sandblasted and powder coated in a colour of my choice for $45. Thats almost as cheap as buying a couple of cans of decent spray paint and doing it myself.
  3. Hey guys and girls, I was just wondering if any of the current members of this forum are using the CAMCON? I was thinking of getting one and just wanted to see if it was worth while. Cheers
  4. Leave it in the UK, Importing into the country is doable but time consuming. There are quite a few GT4 over here if thats what you where after. Go to www.carsales.com.au or www.carpoint.com.au to search for whatever tickles your fancy.
  5. At that price a set of coilovers would certainly be a better option, but you can get a set of Koni's and kings for around $1500 installed if you shop around.
  6. Agreed CAP, TRD struts are designed to be mated with the TRD springs. They are an excellent product but for the price difference between them and Koni's my personal choice would be the latter. If you have a spare $1800-$2000 and want good ride quality and unbeatable handling then go the Cusco Zero 2 Coilovers. Like CAP said it all really depends on your budget and intended use for your car. If you are going to be doing track days then the Cuscos's are your choice, for just street use then the TRD or Koni's.
  7. Hey mate, A year on kings will bugger the stock struts pretty well (especially 122's). If you can afford the Koni's then they are one of the best shocks you will get without changing to coilovers. A full set will cost you around $1000 (if you shop around). The improvement in handling is really quite awesome for the price and should they leak in a few years time they are easily revalved. PM me if you want any further details Cheers
  8. CAP, I have no doubt that you know what you are talking about, however get some Koni's and then pass comment. I have exactly the same setup that SB had in his stivo. When I measured mine with lows in the front and super lows in the rear the difference in ride height was appox 2mm end to end (it was actually higher in the rear!). If you look at the Koni's you will notice that the lower spring plate is alot higher on the strut than what you see on stock struts. The spring is therefore compressed more and as it is progressive compresses less when placed on the ground. I will take a pic of my setup tomorrow to show you what I mean. As for handling, i can guarantee that a car that has a level ride height will out perform a car that sits lower/higher at one end. super lows on the front as well as rear will only stick the corollas bum further up on the air, something that doesn't look good or help the the handling characteristics. Unless the batch of springs that SB and I got where somehow different to whats being produced now, I cant see any reason if someone is getting Koni's not to get the combination which will achieve optimal results.
  9. Thats a very good price. Get the Koni's with lows at the front and super lows at the back. This way the car sits nice an level and handles an absolute treat. I highly recommend the Koni's!
  10. Buy a 3SGTE from a GT4 and a new gearbox from a 2wd ST162. The two will match up and the engine will mount to the same points (correct me if im wrong). Then you have a nice bolt in turbo ST162 setup. How much you going to spend? 3SGTE's are pretty expensive for what you are getting but to me this seems like the easiest option. The problem with your gearbox sounds like you have an issue with the syncro's on 3rd and 2nd. If the car has had a hard life is probably shot to s*** and isn't working as they are meant to. Best solution...new gearbox. should be able to pick one up for about $250 - 300 from a wreckers :)
  11. glad u like it dude, i have them as well and love them so comfortable and handles well best thing for the street besides the highest grade of coilovers hope u dont mind me asking, what set up do u have on them? like....how many turns to firmest do u have front and rear? Fronts: 540 degrees to firm Rears: 360 degrees to firm From what I've gathered so when the front is stiffer than the rear the understeer is reduced. Not having done any track testing yet I'm sure these settings will change, however at the moment I'm reasonably happy.
  12. Done a few runs of Mt Gravatt :) Very nice! With the current settings the ride is firmish, but certainly when you have them on the lowest setting the ride is as standard :)
  13. group buy on micky_tee's spark plugs! maybe we should also look at getting one of your awesome, state of the art timers too... :P
  14. I love these cars looks, but without the turbo engine transplant they are deathly slow (in auto anyway) In my past life when i had a 1981 Subaru Leone i have an auto one and dusted it quite well....still love them though!
  15. Hey all, Just thought I'd let everyone know my opinion on my recently purchased Koni Adjustables (thanks SB) They are phenomenal! Dollar for dollar against a cheaper set of coilovers (G4, D2) I would have the Koni's any day. The ride quality is amazing and handling has improved immensely (note that i also have a whiteline front and rear sway bars, camber bolts, kings and front strut brace) The only down side is having to remove the rear struts to adjust the damper settings. Its taken be a few goes but i have the setup just about right now :) For only $1000 and half a days install work they are one mods i have done on my car for quite some time :)
  16. once again why not trade the roller in for a Honda, go to the aus honda forum...
  17. they only make them in a T-10 wedge at the moment so they wont fit your fogies but will fit your parkers + $110 for some LED's is a bit ridiculous don't you think?

    Oil change

No no need to fill the filter with oil, Toyota's have a priming pump that fills the filter up for you. Always a good idea to lube the o-ring up however.
  19. We have a bunch of marked patrol and about 6 unmarked aurion police cars cruising around in Queensland.
  20. MMM... i have always wondered the same thing. I replaced both my bars so if there is anyone out there that has a standard stivo front bay we may be able to to a compare of the 2...see of there is any difference.
