  1. As the topic states...How much could I sell one of these for, or more to the point what type of money do they usually fetch? Cheers
  2. Chopin, F*** ME IN THE BEARD! ITS A COROLLA! it was not designed to be quick, it was not designed with 0-100 in mind. Just cos its a 6 speed doesn't make it quick, besides the notion behind the new box was for improved fuel economy. Why didn't you just stick with the Honda's seeming they were so quick? There is no point bagging out the Corolla because of its 0-100 time nor is it worth saying that you are some "sicker" that can do 1-100 times that put stivo's to shame. No offense... but build a bridge, cross it, then burn it behind you.
  3. I'll be out too! picking up struts and springs off SB :)
  4. hmmm clearly daviboy didn't have his milk this morning :P some people just need to answer nicely :D PM me and ill send you some pics of how my setup is wired :)
  5. Agreed :P A cheap jack is fine so long as you use it with stands before getting under the car. using a trolley jack saves about 10-15 minutes when putting a car on stands. As opposed to using a scissor jack which has to be used in each corner to jack the car up, the trolley jack only needs to be used twice (Front and rear center jacking points) and takes a lot less effort. :)
  6. Part of the 80k service? They will probably ping you between $500 and $600. Do it yourself, really not all that hard. 'out of curiosity, how often would you change the fuel filter?' every 80,000km :)
  7. I have done it. Despite what the manual says there is only 1 fuel filter and that is in tank. It is pretty easy to get out. 1 - take out back seats (Bottom half only) 2 - Peel back the carpet 3 - There is a round plate in the middle of the rear seat area (It is stuck on with sicaflex) get a screw driver an lift it off 4 - disconnect all wiring and piping (be careful not to break the yellow circlip holding in the fuel line) 5 - unscrew the 7-8 screws around the in tank fuel filter 6 - the whole unit then comes out (fuel pump and all) When you get your new fuel filter you will notice that some parts remain from the old unit including the fuel pump and preliminary filter bag. 7 - Start pulling the fuel pump apart being careful to remember the order in which the parts came off 8 - Attach the existing parts to the new fuel filter and reinstall into the car NB be very careful to reattach the fuel line properly pushing the attachment in all the way and reattaching the yellow circlip. I bought the fuel filter from Toyota for $75 with a mechanics discount, civies will probably pay $90ish For pictures just download the corolla service manual :)
  8. Autobarn is selling trolley jacks for really cheap at the moment. $20 for a 1200kgs and $30 for a 1400kgs (I bought this one). Pretty good quality for the price :)
  9. spot on! a rag with metho does the trick :)
  10. Disc rotors can sometimes wear unevenly or even warp. You can tell this is happening when you stomp of the anchors and you feel the wheel and/or brake pedal vibrating. When this occurs its time to have the rotors machined. Usually they take anywhere between 1mm to 2mm off the rotor depending on thier condition ans minimum operating thickness. This process also needs to be done when the discs get glazed. Hope that ahs cleared things up :) Cheers EDIT: Damn got beaten again!
  11. Yeah it was...he did some fancy rewiring but I still think I got ripped. I do the majority of work on my car now to save on lobour cost. Good way to learn. :)
  12. Hey Rollamods, Okay to calrify, I probably should not have used the term 'ignition leads' - obviouly the 1zz does not have coils or leads as such but rather a coil in lead set up. I replaced the standard (denso i think?) 'coil in lead' plugs with an aftermarket NGK variant (I'm sure the gains are minimal but I wanted to do it so I did). probably wasnt the best money I ever spent seeing as the auto electrician cost me $350 in labor costs :( But its done now so i tend to forget about it. I'll take some photos of them the next time the engine cover comes off for a clean. Hope that clears everything up :) Cheers
  13. Howdy, 4age - 16 valve had a compression ratio of 9.8:1 from memory. You can give the piston transplant a go but i doubt you will make the power of a 4age...ge = sport head fe = econcomy head. Although the 4age might be an older engine it is tough as nails and has a greater number of modification options compared to the 4afe. Cheers
  14. Hey buddy, All those parts of your car can take as much water as you can throw at them! Hosing any external part of you car will never be an issue. Water only really becomes and issue of you start hosing out the engine bay and water gets in and around the ignition leads/spark plugs. New pads will generally squeak especially if you did not bed them in to the manufactures specifications. Mind you this 'should' have been done by the service place.
  15. yeah i wouldn't be paying anything more than $30 per disc. They may charge more if they have to take them off and replace them, but for the amount of effort it takes you should rip them off the car yourself and save some cash. Your local Midas/Repco/Toyota dealer should be able to help you out no worries :)
  16. Hey guys, Has anyone given any thought to entering the 2008 Dutton Rally Series? Looks like a pretty cool event to have a bit of fun in :) On this topic, has anyone entered it before or any other tarmac rally for that matter? After seeing SuperDaves exploits at Qld RacewayI'd like to put my vote in for him to enter and carve up the competition (Your my hero superdave :P) Cheers
  17. Yeah just personally I'd go s/c over turbo for practicality reasons. The TRD s/c is a straight bolt on unit :) it just seems to be a lot less hassle than a custom turbo set up. I hear that DuGong is giving the sportivo boys a run for their money in an auto with no auqamist. I figure a manual with aquamist set up for the 5th injector should push 120kws??? or there abouts. I would be happy with that, plenty of low down torque to make daily driving an ease and abit of poke when its necessary. After all it is just a corolla and driveability is more important to me than outright speed :P
  18. I'd suggest raising the height of your coils just a tad.
