  1. Damn, that fly must have some great skills. LOL. Anyways, to get to the dash cluster to remove it, the process is relatively simple. Unfortunately I'm not good with written instructions and I don't have any photos, but this guide for the American Gen 6 Camry will give you an idea. Just reverse everything. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showpost...mp;postcount=25 I'm not sure as I haven't removed it myself (Steven can respond to the following though), but you may be able to skip steps 1 to 3 and just get straight to the trim around the dash cluster.
  2. Yeah. I didn't get the chance to do that last time. Maybe this time would be good to try.
  3. Yes I am. And try twice a week. And my engine bay would be cleaner than yours... I've seen photos of your engine bay :P Nah, my car isn't as clean as some others on this board, but I reckon it's pretty clean. Enough that I will challenge you. Just don't forget the really fine details:
  4. They aren't specifically different tires for the track. It just so happens that my previous set of tires were shagged prior to going to QR so whilst getting a new set, I thought I would get a more ideal size. They are a 225/50R17 compared to the stock 215/55R17. In fact, for a 7 inch wide wheel, the 225/50R17 is the most suited choice for it. I don't think it has made any drastic improvement to performance, but I just feel more confident about it.
  5. I think I'm starting to get soft with wanting to do hard Nebo runs now. It's not that I'm bored of it... it just scares me more for some reason. Speaking of soft, the strangest thing happened from the moment I left Willowbank on Saturday. I haven't really had the urge to purposely redline my car since. It's like my driving has tamed down a bit from just that one event. As for the drags, I am going to be so p***ed off if I don't get at least a 14.131 again.
  6. Analogue TV on the go and hiding antennas don't really go together well. The end result will be nowhere near watchable. You can find antennas on eBay etc that are loops of flat wire which can be attached to your rear window etc to allow you to make it less obvious. The reception with these though are a bit iffy at times as you would expect. Unfortunately, that's the one drawback of trying to watch TV while on the go.
  7. Can't comment there, but I will say that they don't have any noticeable effects with the radio reception... well mine anyways. I have Tint-a-Car Midnight Express. Whatever you do, don't go any lighter than 35% otherwise you would just be wasting money. If you can get them to write a receipt saying that they put 35% on but then they can put 20% on, then go for it. So long as you will be fine with the slight decrease in night time visibility. 20% will really give you some privacy while keeping the bright sun out of the car. Around $395 for the darkest legal on a car like the Aurion seems to be about the standard rate these days. Shop around though and you can probably get it cheaper no doubt. Definitely worth it. Really adds to the look of the car whilst being functional at the same time. The moment my car was registered and on the road, I took it straight to Tint-a-Car. I only chose these guys because this is the branch (Milton) that does all the Mercedes for the local dealers and as well they had previously done some Lamborghinis. It was mainly just trust with the quality. I can just remember how great she looked when I went to pick her up and she was just sitting there in the driveway looking hot.
  8. I wasn't pointing to the oil around the cap. I know that issue was resolved. I was just using that picture because you can clearly see that the one spot that was remaining which you have indicated in this post is the exact same shape as the previous one. Anyways, that leak would appear to be more likely originating from the Bank 2 Intake Side VVT Sensor which is the thing directly above the leak. The rocker cover gasket is way lower than that so I wouldn't imagine that being the issue. I'm not sure though if the underside of that VVT sensor is exposed to oil however.
  9. And compared with previous photo that he took, you can see it wasn't cleaned thoroughly therefore allowing dirt the chance to stick:
  10. Spotted a white Sportivo ZZE with black and sliver wheels and some black decals on it around 4:15pm parked outside the Cessnock ALDI.
  11. A) That doesn't look like a rocker cover gasket leak, and is not near it in the first place and B) Is it actually leaking. As in you see more and more oil pool there? That to me looks just like any ordinary oil spillage. Such as that from your previous issue, Oil is seeping :-(
  12. Hey SuperDave, one problem that I can't believe I didn't think of before. A expected, this has led to a fail. In addition to the steam activated thermostat that switches the kettle off completely, kettles also have an automatic shut-off feature for the element when they gets to a bit above 100 degrees C (easily attainable by running it without water). This is there to prevent the element burning out if ran dry. So that said, simply placing popping corn kernels in the kettle and turning it on will result in it turning itself off relatively quickly. Forcing it on will then lead to it burning out. Besides that, popcorn needs 180 degrees C to successfully pop. So I think this is not a viable alternative.
  13. Damn... you know I can't say no to something like this. Luckily I'm due to head to Melbourne that following Monday, so I will be able to make it. This is going to be the last straw for my current set of tires I'd say. So let them know the HMAS Aurion will be there Hmmm, I guess I will be doing the 1/4 mile in street trim. When I do Nebo runs, I always have my sub in the boot. I'm used to the way it handles overall like that. So therefore I guess that will have to sit there for the drags as well.
  14. Welcome mate. My Aurion is ex-Hertz as well. Origin: Cairns Airport.
  15. Oh dear. I think for you, you are best of leaving it in 'D'. For what it's worth, putting it into 'S' will not benefit you at this point in time.
  16. You surely can't be thinking that by having it in 6, that the car will be taking off in 6th gear? Have you ever tried to take off on a high gear on a manual car? You should really read what 'S' mode is all about. Leaving it on 6 enables you to utilise all gears, but when going down the 1/4 mile, you only get up to 4th anyways, but you may as well leave it on 6th because it makes no difference.
  17. I recommend leaving it in 'S' mode with 6th selected. This way the transmission will do all the shifting for you. Personally I have found this to yield the best results, but feel free to do the shifting yourself. You will learn a thing or two about it then. As for your trap speed, you should be aiming for 99.29mph (159.80km/h) or higher :P BTW, when you get to that speed, you will be in 4th.
  18. Keep us posted on how you go. Remember, even if you don't get a great 1/4 mile time, as long as you let your transmission do the gear changing for you, your trap speed (finishing speed) will be a decent indication of your power. A higher trap speed indicates a higher power-to-weight ratio.
  19. Unfortunately I had not taken my Aurion to the drags prior to doing anything to it. When I achieved my best time, all that I had done is change the rear mufflers, remove the lower intake resonator, replaced the upper resonator with a straight through pipe, and removed the front intake snorkel. I highly doubt those contributed to the great time though. I think it was all in the launch. I was running half worn Potenza Adrenalins at their recommended PSI so nothing out of the ordinary there. Maybe the track was just really sticky at the time. Also I think the cool air helped a bit. LOL, maybe it's the fact I push my car hard day in, day out.
  20. Rotors? I'm absolutely positive they have made a difference. If you had seen what I put my car though, you would believe me when I say so. Brisbane members would agree. I've taken it to the track once and done many many mountain runs to the point where the pads were smoking, and they are still working like new. In the end, it's my choice and purchase and I'm satisfied with it.
  21. I've got two videos both are around 150MB straight off the camera, and about 25MB each compressed. I am currently out of town relying on a 3G connection, so uploading it is out of the question now. I will put it up as a private video for you on YouTube when I get back home in a couple of weeks.
  22. Official figures (as in those from car reviewers since manufactures don't usually have such figures) can vary because the person driving may not launch off the line to the best the car can handle. This can easily affect the time taken to cover the 1/4 mile... and it's this which usually results cars achieving better times down the 1/4 mile than what may have been published. Remember, as I said, obtaining a good ET relies on a great launch. Some cars can launch harder than others and this is where a RWD will have a slight advantage.
  23. Well your 'street race' still doesn't quantify. legend_of_lazz is racing for the fastest time, not who crosses the finish line first. Reaction times don't come into play in this case. For example, one old Ford that was in the lane next to me at the 1/4 mile yesterday had a reaction time 0.9 seconds faster than me. He was 1.5 to 2 car lengths ahead of me and crossed the finish line first. My 1/4 mile time however was faster than his. So just because you were ahead, without a time, he could have been quicker than you to cover the distance. Anyways, this is besides the point. You are talking about street racing on the forum here which you will find is not approved of by the mods. This is true for most automotive forums out there.
  24. Once again, more street racing that has no bearing on a proper race. Who's to say he didn't floor it and start properly.
  25. Good find Guni. I've said something like this over at Toyota Nation where I found out about this new RSB:
