I'm trying to figure that out as well. I' get under my car to look right now, but it's too hot, plus I'm all clean and ready for my drive. I have a feeling it's probably like an upgraded suspension connecting rod/arm or something. The 19mm bar is definitely worth the upgrade. It doesn't adversely affect the under/over steer characteristics despite adding more bias to over steer. You will find that when pushed to the extremity, it will over steer, but you have to push quite a bit for this to happen. Under everyday spirited driving though... and on the track, te feeling is more neutral in that you get less of the feeling of under steering into a wall or something.

What did you do to your car today?

Things in that area tend to stay there I find. Tools especially. How's this for luck though. I left a pair of pliers on the boot of my sister's car, and she managed to drive 25km without them falling off. -
Aurion average fuel consumption approximation
DJKOR replied to DJKOR's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
^ Holy crap. Now that's some serious tracking. Top effort on keeping track of that. -
there is no way this is true my son is a benz nut and currently has a e350 coupe with 225kw 6 the in his text message i sent him with this video in his words "this being a 2004 e63 amg with 275kw there is no way the aurion will win thanks for vid dad" we had a little floor it race on the freeway last week starting from 80kph and he ****s all over the aurion by about 15 meters finishing at 160kph Lets not get this thread out of control with street racing words. This is a legitimate track thread. Anyways, that video is pointless. It doesn't prove anything. That other driver probably didn't want to bother wasting his fuel.

Cleaned her interior up a little, didn't bother with the exterior and packed all my tools, clothes, etc into her ready for my next job down south. P.S. Andrew, the name of the place is Rothbury. -
Chances are they forgot to connect the ambient light sensor when they re-ftitted your dash. Easy fix, but if you are going back there, you can just get them to look at it if you want. As for your knocking issues etc, it sounds like the same issue I have where my steering rack mounts are stuffed, but I think mine is more of a rarer case that doesn't happen to many Aurion's from the sounds of it. The thing is, there are three possible faults being the intermediate shaft, steering rack ends, or steering rack mounts. Each of these can produce very similar symptoms, so without seeing it first hand, you can't simply say over the internet which issue you have. It's like trying to diagnose an illness over the phone. Checking the steering rack ends and mounts will be much easier if you can hoist your car up so you can visually inspect everything. The intermediate shaft can be inspected from inside the car, but you will have to loosen a few things to test for play in it.

I was actually quite satisfied with the 3mm increase to 19mm. It added just the right amount of over steer to keep things well composed. Now a 4mm step up from the 19mm would definitely be something. I think I might need to find an upgraded front sway bar to balance things out afterwards. That way my body roll will be reduced even further while still maintaining a good balance of under and over steer. Otherwise I'd imagine myself getting this thing sideways as much as I can for that added fun factor.

REAR WHEEL BEARING FOR ZZE123 COROLLA
DJKOR replied to pirate125's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
A rear hub bearing on a FWD isn't uncommon. The Aurion is exactly the same. Makes it a bit more costly, especially when you have an ABS speed sensor built into it, but it simplifies things. There is no way you can separate the bearing from the hub. It will look something like the attached photo (this is for my Aurion, but same construction really). For the Australian ZZE123 Corolla Sportivo both Australian and SA built the part numbers are as follows: 42450A, 42450-02100 - HUB & BEARING ASSY, REAR AXLE, RH 42450B, 42450-02100 - HUB & BEARING ASSY, REAR AXLE, LH -
Bit of a thread revival, but this seemed to be the best one to put this in. Word is out that Ultra Racing (not yet available from Ultra Racing Australia yet), now have an upgraded rear sway bar. This one is now 23mm instead of the previous 19mm. I must say... I really want one now. http://www.ultraracing.com.my/Bars.asp?ID=3616 They also now have side bars for chassis stiffening... but I'm not overly concerned with that yet.

+1 on the washer bottle,i filled mine up from empty this morning and i swear it took about 4-5 litres...and running it dry would not be cheating. :) -2 for the washer fluid. It's a 5 litre reservoir by the way, and that 5kg is extra weight that can contribute to a very very small amount of traction. It's f* all extra traction, but because it's only 5kg in the first place, I wouldn't bother emptying it. It WON'T improve your time. The key to getting a good 1/4 mile time is your launch. It's a two part problem you have here. In one hand, reducing your weight will give you a higher power-to-weight ratio (which a good indicator is your trap speed) and can help you accelerate/launch quicker, but by reducing weight in the car, you get less weight on the wheels that will reduce traction available for launch. This is what I was saying in my previous statement: If you start getting blinded by this huge desire to beat this guy and end up stripping most of your Aurion down, you will learn the hard way that you need to maintain traction to get a good time when you are not increasing engine power significantly. When you don't think properly, then you start making mistakes. With the attitude the OP has towards this, I can picture such mistakes being made. Remember, screw up your launch... and your ET will be higher and you will end up wearing the dress. If I were you, I would just take out the spare wheel and jack and borrow a set of (street legal) semi-slicks if you can. Also push the passenger seat as far forward as it goes and move your own seat as far forward as you can comfortably go. Then stall it up higher and launch hard. Chances are, he won't notice the semi-slicks, which are street legal and therefore not really cheating.

^ Basketball Team? That's what Google tells me. Judging from the fact he's feeling seedy, I'd say it would be this cocktail: Singapore Sling Oh yeah, what post is this?

Wrong thread. This is the one I posted in: Air Conditioner Smell FWIW, the smell still does come from the A/C evaporator, it just happens that a clean pollen filter somehow masks up the mildew smell for a little while. This is possibly due to the clean smell of the filter itself (yes I sniffed the filter when I bought it). The pollen filter sits between the outside air duct and the blower motor (about the height where the bottom of the red oval is in the attached photo). Air that is circulated from inside the car does not pass through this filter. The most that happens is that is blows across the underside (clean side) of the filter when re-circulated air enters the blower motor.

Yeah, I got the Kappa's that can be seen a little in the photos from Michael at the end. Unfortunately, some of my favourite photos show my old wheels.

I listened again. I'm thinking it was probably in connection with his statement when he said "... got a 14 from memory last time. See what he does this time." Easier said than done unfortunately. On the overall topic of things, it's not really that impressive. You trap speed (the speed you were going at the end of the 1/4 mile) is a good indication of your cars power (more specifically power to weight). I would really love to get at least a 100MPH trap speed while maintaining the car in its stock trim. Basically as a daily driver that can manage a 100mph trap speed. Problem is, I think I have run out of things to do to lighten the car whilst retaining it's interior etc. 170km/h isn't so bad with the Aurion. It glides quite smoothly at that speed. Even 245km/h is good... but stability is very twitchy as you would expect. Now that is one speed I will promise myself never to go again.

What did you do to your car today?
DJKOR replied to JustinW's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
It's yesterday that this applies to, but it still feels like today because I haven't slept yet. Anyways, I performed my standard tire rotation. During this process, as standard practice, I inspected all tires to make sure they are good and most of all, check for nails. With my luck, I had found a nail stuck in one of my tires. So I took that one down to Bridgestone to get repaired then I finally finished my rotation. Then I took her to the drags to make sure she is still running like she should. Somewhat disappointed, but oh wells. -
Okay guys. Today there was another Test 'n' Tune held at Willowbank, so I decided to take my Aurion there yet again. Being a Saturday, racing started at 4:30pm, which at this time of the year in Ipswich means extreme heat. Ideally I would have preferred a Wednesday T'n'T, which there is one this coming Wednesday, because these start later in the day meaning it will be cooler etc, but I will be heading interstate tomorrow and don't like waiting. Anyways, my main purpose of heading there was to ensure that my newly fitted K&N intake has not adversely affected the performance of my car. As per usual though, I was also aiming on beating my 14.131s @ 99.29mph 1/4 mile time. Beating this time has proved to be fairly difficult for me. I have come close a couple of times, but for some reason, I just can't match it... or even beat it. My best guess is that my tires at the time in combination with the track surface must have provided me with great grip for a great launch. Those who know drag racing would know that the key to a good ET is your launch. Well the heat there was definitely fairly intense at first. This was seen by my first few runs being around 14.4s. At the time, air temperature was around 33 degrees with relative humidity around 35%. As the sun set though and the air cooled, I managed to pull a 14.246s @ 99.19mph pass which I think was fairly alright. It's definitely not one of my best times, but it's up there. During that run, air temperature was 27 degrees with relative humidly at 59%. This is the third and fourth video below. I'm not really satisfied with my times today because I didn't really match my best time, or even beat it but that said, I feel more confident enough to say that I personally don't think I have lost any performance by putting on my K&N intake. While I was there, I took some in-car video just for fun, which also lets you hear what the intake/exhaust sounds like inside with the windows up. As well, I got video from the outside. Though unfortunately due to the camera and the noise all around, you can't head my car. I have a few things to say here before I get comments on it. 1) You will notice I didn't stall it high for my launch. This is because I wasn't able to get traction when I stalled it above 1,500RPM (probably due to the condition of the tires as I had played with air pressures already), 2) You will notice that I spun the wheels a bit in the fourth video. I wasn't intending on doing a burnout. I just did that because I couldn't avoid one tire coming into contact with the water so I wanted to dry it a little. 3) Despite being a T'n'T, I still like to focus on my reaction times as well. It's just a force of habit. Just ignore the bad reaction time in the third and fourth video. We staged before the time board reset so it took a bit longer for the Christmas tree to get going which messed me up a bit. Anyways, here they are: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!Edit: LOL, I just watched this more closely and listened this time. The commentator said something about 'maybe it's a she driving'. WTF. I'll just use photos this time: BTW Julez, I have video here of your 1/4 mile runs if you are interested. Your first one was the fastest pass, but my old man has his focus on the 2ZZ at first so you don't really see yours until the end... where you get a quick glance at the time. The second run however you can see both cars all the way, but this wasn't the best run.

So before I attempt this.... I need to confirm a few things. From what I come across most of the time in hotels, the kettle element is a a vertical coil with between 2 to 5 coils and sits about an inch from the very base of the kettle. This is no worries as I will swirl it around gently. The question here is; which type of popcorn? There is the traditional popping corn kernels (made for those air popcorn poppers), or will I be daring and go for the full out microwave popcorn (buttered of course). The reason I say this is that I've never opened a packet of microwave popcorn, but from the feel of it outside, it feels like a solid slab of popcorn inside. Some hotels though do use the flat bottomed kettles though.... if that's the case, this would be an easy win I reckon. I do imagine this is going to set of the smoke detector... but I'll work around that.

Those blanks can take switches that are for genuine Toyota accessories (ie. switch supplied from Toyota), or an aftermarket switch that is made to the same size. Chances are, the fog light switch you have is just a generic switch that isn't specifically made to fit those panel blanks.

For someone to bail like that from the scene of the accident, I would have hoped that they crashed or flipped. According to the poster of the video though, it seems that others have helped out and the person went to court over it.

On top of that, if he fails to win, even with cheating, then he will make the Aurion look even worse, more so if his workmates were to find out.
