Engine just switched off while driving
DJKOR replied to thekemist's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
I'll block your intake or exhaust and we can test that statement if you want :P Anyways, if the MAF is playing up and it thinks that there is no air going to the engine, it can stall the engine by not supplying enough fuel to it. It should enter its limp mode though, which is where you get the symptoms the OP was getting at first. -
I'm surprised you can still listen to your music JustinW. From everything I've heard, I would have thought your Eonon head unit would have blown up and destroyed your car by now.
-
Now that's what I call creativity. I definitely give you a thumbs up for your thinking.
-
Do I hear an echo? . VF-X managed to beat you to it. I can't be 100% on whether the new Aurion is identical to the previous model (these things can change), but Peter, you should probably unplug the other connectors on your head unit and look for one that looks like this (shown on Aurion ZR6's guide): If it looks identical, I would say that it is safe to assume that your head unit is the same and then you can follow the guide linked above. So you're that new Aurion owner in Brisbane eh? If I was in town at the moment, I would be able to give you a hand. Oh well; maybe next time.

As far as I'm aware (which means I haven't asked myself), the Aurion should have adjustment within the ECU. I know for a fact the Klugers can be adjusted with the same parameters, so I would imagine the Aurion would be the same. Using the US Gen 6 Camry service manual as a guide, you will find the following customisation parameters: To do this, Toyota needs to connect their Intelligent Tester to your Aurion.

Your wheels are alright mate. Your ZRE has different tire sizing requirements than the ZZE like lylee. A quick general guide when up-sizing tires (just a guide as it can vary) is when you increase rim diameter by one inch from stock, you increase tire width by 10mm and decrease profile by 5mm. Then from there, keeping the wheel size the same, if you increase the width of the tire by 10mm, you decrease the profile by 5mm. So in your case, stock tires are 205/55R16. So when you get 17's, generally you go to 215/50R17, and then alternatively you can have 225/45R17.

I have noticed that the air conditioning on my Aurion somewhat doesn't feel as cold as I remember it was when I first got it. I'm guessing though that this is more of me getting used to it more than anything. I only use my aircon for about one day a week though. Even though the temperature was the same outside, did you have more air flow over the radiator in your van than you did on the Aurion when you were making that comparison? Simple things like that can make a big difference to the air conditioning feel.

What did you do to your car today?
DJKOR replied to JustinW's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
cheaper to fly and then rent a car ??? :P I had to transport quite a bit of stuff. My car deserved the drive though. I push her all the time, so she deserves to get a good long highway drive every now and again. -
Spotted a blue ZZE Rolla going along Orange Grove Road in Cabramatta I think the suburb was at 9:20am (or 8:20am... can't remember if I looked at my Brisbane time or not) this morning. It had a pretty wicked looking front bumper kind of like spillige's. I only got a quick look at it though. Anyone here?

Drove her here to Canberra and got her really dirty. -
Sorry to say, but damn your roads in Sydney are really crap. Had to drive through there before heading to Canberra and I think that is a little too much work for my shocks.
-
You sir, have made my day.

WTF mate? If I wanted a whole heap of videos I'd just go to YouTube. This is just as bad as a spambot attack. THIS IS NOT GOING TO QUALIFY YOU FOR A 'FOR SALE' THREAD. 2) If you are a new member you must have atleast 30 posts to your name which are of value to the community as well as being a member for more then 3 months. You might ask well how do you measure this ? Its simple. You've answered questions, you've contributed to discussions etc this is NOT and you do NOT qualify if all your posts are in the buy & sell area or if all you do is post in the spam based threads (e.g. picture numbers, Word association etc). How will we govern this ? Again simple there are now over 2000 members on the forum im sure if we mods miss it one of them will be diligent enough to send me a pm. As it is the community of members who are asking for this governance. I should also note this includes linking to items being sold on other sites (e.g. other forums etc) or linking to auction sites (e.g. ebay, yahoo auctions etc). I see you have tried once: 1975 Celica LT22 Coupe Fully Modified

Yeah scotty9. She took a holiday ages ago and bought it after trading some of this in:

Very wise choice. Trust me, if you got the auto, later down the line you'd probably regret that decision. Every day I drive, I keep wishing I had a manual.
-
Depends on which type of style you are looking for out of your Aurion. You maximum wheel size will also affect your wheel choice as well. It's all personal preference really. Your best bet is to pick up some catalogues from your local wheel shop and having a good look through them. If I was to give a suggestion, for a black car you would definitely want to go classy. I would choose some 20 inch black wheels with some really nice chrome dish if I had to choose something. That's my preference though.
-
If you're going down that track, you should try to go for the whole VIP look. Then you can be the first facelift VIP Aurion.
-
I know it's only just new, but are there any mods you are thinking about, even if it's just the wheels for now?
-
Yeah, I head that they are replacing it with a 'revised' oil line that has a 'better reinforced rubber hose' and 'improved clamps'. Only time will tell though if it will really last. Apparently they are saying that the metal line will void warranty due to the fact that it can be damaged by vibration etc on the previous years' engines. We'll see about that.

What did you do to your car today?

It will strip some wax back, but not as effectively as you would probably want. For best results, you should buy a car wash product that is formulated to remove existing wax to prepare the car for polishing etc. For me though, I prefer to clean the car with a good dishwashing liquid to really take the wax off before claying it. Here is the word of caution though. If you are going to use dishwashing liquid, don't use this method too often. It isn't the most friendly for your car as it can strip oils from parts of the car that really need it like rubber trims etc. If you are only claying your car twice a year and cleaning it by this method when you do so, I don't see it creating any issues... but that is from my point of view with my car etc. By stripping the wax before hand like that you can ensure that when you clay, you get the best possible result without your clay bar getting 'clogged' too often. ... Anyways, what did I do to my car today? I cleaned out the interior and packed it with all my stuff I will need for work over the next couple of weeks in Canberra. I also gave it a good bath... even though it's going to get dirty on the highway tonight. I don't know why I bother; I just can't help it. -
Daryl I think you are incorrect as the US/Japan/SE Asia gen 6 Camry/Asian Camry (Aurion body) uses Akebono calipers and the AUS Camry/Aurion uses PBR calipers the pads are different and also the park brake is different. Sorry. That was my bad. I was saying that under the impression that Bendix properly updates their site with the correct brake pad details. I guess in this case they don't. Hopefully Toyodiy is more accurate as it shows the code for the pad to be the same, despite different calliper codes (as to be expected). In that case I will edit my first post accordingly in addition to saying here. capodien: The US pad profile actually looks more like this: I've updated my first post, but in general... no you won't find the Redstuff available yet for the PBR calliper that is used on the Aurion and the Australian Gen 6 Camry. In that case though, elaborate more on your needs so we can provide some more advise. I've already given some in my reply before.

Thrillseekers & Sheryl Deane - Synaesthesia I'm listening to the full version, but here's a cut down one for ya: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!

I'm not sure about the Camry but for the Aurion transmission fluid to be flushed and filled, I was quoted $190 by my dealer. I would assume the Camry would be the same, if not cheaper than that. Would also be cheaper than that if you provide you own alternative WS ATF. For my next ATF change, I'm just going to pay Toyota to do it because of this 'must be 40 degrees' accuracy.
-
What exactly do you plan on doing to your Camry? Just be aware that the 4000 Series XS DBA rotors are specified for street use only, which is probably most likely due to the higher chance of the rotor cracking. For everyday street use on the I4, Redstuff would be a bit of overkill, but each to their own really. It's your money you're spending and your rotors you will be ultimately wearing. Using a harsh pad on an expensive special order only rotor isn't something I would consider doing if it was only for street use. Edited: But anyways, the American Gen 6 I4 and V6 Camry uses Akebono callipers and has a different brake pad design to the Australian spec Gen 6 Camry which uses PBR callipers like the Aurion. EBC currently only have Redstuff pads available for the Akebono callipers and are therefore only suitable for the American Camry's. If I was to provide a recommendation, if you want a pad with some decent bite that is much better than OEM, but not overkill, then QFM HPX pads would be the way to go. These pads are available for $79 per axle (plus shipping) and are considered to be on the same level (said to be even better) than the EBC Greenstuff. Reference numbers use Bendix product numbers which is DB1474 for the front and DB1475 for the rear. Alternatively if you really want that performance, QFM have a pad that is called 'A1RM'. This pad compound rivals the EBC Redstuff and is considerably cheaper at $119 per axle (plus shipping). My initial comments about a harsh pad as stated in my second paragraph apply here as well. Would need to give GSL Rallysport a call first to enquire about the availability of this pad as when I last called (last week) it was currently on backorder.

Good work mate. What was your primary product of choice if you don't mind telling?
