  1. I just felt sorry for her poor kid sitting in the passenger seat. If I were her son, I'd be trying to hide myself due to the embarrassment. I can't remember the car though. But back on topic, if safety is such a big concern for you tekkyy, what made you settle for an Aurion?
  2. Yeah, LED's do have that disadvantage. You can improve on it slightly though (especially with the T5 bulb replacements) by using an LED like this: That's the ones we used in my sisters Mazda 3 in the A/C controls when we were were changing the dash and surrounding lighting from red to blue LED's. Nah, the bulb used in the gear shift indicator is just your standard T5 wedge. I replaced mine with a T5 LED replacement the day I stripped my car apart.
  3. Fuses can sometimes blow unexpectedly for many different reasons. Maybe a door lock got jammed temporarily and for some reason during a lock process, it overloaded enough to blow the fuse. Either way, if you change the fuse and it doesn't blow again, it was just a one off thing that you shouldn't really have to worry about. If it blows again quickly, then maybe the wiring and/or the actuator needs to be looked at. The fuse in question will be on the inner fuse panel of your car. Either behind the glove box or the passenger/driver side kick panel.
  4. Yes they will. Shannon (aka Whip Cracker) can even confirm that they will fit on a Gen 3 Camry. That's the good thing about keeping the same stud pattern and offset with the Gen 3, 4, 5 and 6.
  5. I have used CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW to play MP3s on my unit. With either format, when I turn the head unit/car off, next time I turn it back on, it would resume from the last song played, but at the beginning of it. That was my major annoyance with the unit, but it was something I got used to over time. Sounds like yours is behaving a little strange. But given the quality of these units, it's not something out of the ordinary. I have questioned the quality of my unit a few times and now it is to the point where I am using an MP3 player plugged into the AUX port because I simply can't trust how long the laser pickup is going to last on these units. Last thing I want is a busted laser because that is the only decent way to play video files.
  6. Which is exactly why you are so disappointed about selling yours :P
  7. Nice one there Hidden Taco. That actually reminds me. I've seen around the Brisbane area twice, some woman who drives around with a tinted face shield (as in a workshop face shield, example below) and gloves. Was the funniest thing to see in my rear view mirror. It just makes me laugh like back many years ago when I was a kid and saw a family of 4 get into a car and then all putting bicycle helmets on.
  8. How can someone possibly even think of trying this. Obviously didn't realise how powerful it would be: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!
  9. This may seem really stupid, but have you tried checking any fuses? There should be a 25A fuse labelled 'DOOR' which could possibly be blown. If that one is okay, or you replace it and it doesn't fix the problem, checking the 30A one labelled 'PWR' or 'POWER' won't hurt. That one usually is only responsible for the power windows though, but you never know.
  10. The only report here of someone trying a different antenna was a user named Kmg. It was mentioned in this thread: TV antenna The eBay link he has there is now invalid, but the antenna that he go looked like this: Are you referring about the original antenna? If so, it has three connections on it because it is a powered (amplified) antenna. First one plugs into the head unit, second connects to a +12v source, and the last one connects to ground.
  11. I did that once before as well. I got the check engine light and 'Check VSC' come up on the display, even after stopping the car and plugging it back in. I just pulled the ECU fuse for a few minutes then put it back. Check engine light gone, and after driving it for a bit, I would say the error code as well.
  12. Wow tekkyy. I've noticed around here you are way into this safety issue stuff. You always complain about how Toyota are so behind. It's makes me ask why you got one then in the first place if safety seems to be paramount. In my opinion, I'm not overly concerned about whether the Falcon etc is safer than the Aurion. I do care for my safety, but not THAT much.
  13. The bulb itself is a T5 bulb. As well, if you want, Narva make red and blue bulb covers, but they are reasonably 'thick' and cut out a fair bit of light. They can be obtained from most auto stores like Repco. As suggested above though, a wide angle LED replacement would be a MUCH better option.
  14. You can simply remove the lower resonator and leave the hole open. Useful for keeping the airbox clean. As for the upper resonator, you need to be a bit more creative there. There was all this discussion over at: Air intake mods Should have a look at that first.
  15. There isn't much benefit to adding a pod filter either a SRI or CAI to the Aurion. You do get a mad induction sound. The installation process of it all is pretty straight forward. We are finding that with the Aurion, whatever gains you can get from such mods seem to disappear after a bit of driving. We think this has to do with the AI of the ECU. Rowan found that after a while of using a SRI, changing back to his stock intake actually felt a little better. While on topic, Rowan and I can pull similar times down the 1/4 mile when he has his SRI an I have my stock intake, minus it's restrictions. That's why you usually hear the guys over at Toyota Nation with their Camry's saying to just get a K&N drop in filter and call it a day.
  16. Grrrr. I'm really p!ssed off now. Only One month ago, I changed all four of my tires. Cost me a total of $1140 as well. Potenza Adrenalin RE001 (225/50R17).
  17. Look at the first post. It's 400 Gregory Terrace, Spring Hill. Damn, maybe I should swing very quickly on my way to the BEC. This meet is looking too good.
  18. You're welcome. And yes, as in the point where the fuel is sucked up from the tank into the fuel pump.
  19. It is barely even noticeable. To get it to the noticeable stage, you need to remove the lower resonator and the carbon filter in the top of the air box. Re-doing the upper resonator will make in the intake even louder, and re-doing the front snorkel makes it approach SRI territory.
  20. The one week I'm not going to be there and this meet sounds like it's going to be bigger than usual.
  21. From that photo, for a rattle can job, that looks half alright.
  22. Just forming an idea based on your description, could it possibly be something with the fuel pickup itself? You mention that it only happens around 90-110km/h. It would then seem that it may not have much to do with the engine itself. This is due to the simple fact that you can use the same RPM (and even more) than when you are travelling at highway speed. Just one possible idea though.
  23. You were smart to refuse it. I prefer preventative maintenance and use a product called Fuel Doctor.
  24. The USB pretty much is crap. When you turn the head unit off, the next time you turn it on, playback starts from the first song again. I considered using just USB, but that fault made me reconsider. As for the AVI's, it is a bit touch. All mine are usually DivX. So long as the resolution is not too high (ie. your standard 350MB TV show is fine), you should not run into any issues.
  25. ooh let us know how it goes, if you can, it would be great to post up pics of the install for us to follow If you've changed your own air filter before, that is about as exciting as photos of this process is going to get. Extra induction noise really. Just for looks more than anything.
