  1. The antenna trigger provides +12v (some cases can be GND) when the head unit is turned on. This is for cars with automatic wind up/down antennas. In other words, you turn the head unit on, the antenna goes up; turn the head unit off, the antenna goes down.
  2. I have had no other ideas except to remove the entire thing. I think becasue the plastic is light and over a large area, it creates it's own noise when the bass hits it. When I put mine back in, I experimented with the clips by wrapping them in felt tape and covering any contacting edges with the same. The parcel shelf still rattles. I was just thinking of getting some speaker carpet and laying it down in place instead. It will at least stay in its place and will allow you to easily make cutouts for where the seat belt comes through and the baby seat anchors. I just need to get the patience to get to it. I've got so many things I'm trying to sort out with my car at the moment.
  3. I think it's just you and SecaBoy (Ash).
  4. My guess is that this 'computer' thing would have been because the Aurion tail/brake lights would be wired and fused for low current. The LED tail light parkers are rated at 0.1W and the stop lights are rated at 3.2W. Compared to your normal bulb which would be 5W and 21W respectively, you wouldn't really want to tap into the original tail/brake light circuit.
  5. Speeding is illegal. Then how come there are so many people out there that speed? Driving with fog lights on in clear weather conditions is illegal. Then how come so many people out there drive with them on? Exact same logic. Edit: On a side note, I got the states mixed up. I think it is illegal everywhere BUT NSW. You need to have a kit that is engineered to be within certain guidelines. I think it would cost upwards of $7000 as you have mentioned. My statement should have been along the lines of "I don't think any aftermarket bolt on air bag kit for your car is legal."
  6. I guessing you are referring to the 2GR-FE. If you have a look over on the Aurion boards, or the Gen 6 Camry boards over at Toyota Nation, you will find more discussion about the topic. To answer your question in general, there is currently no aftermarket 'performance chips' for these engines, and there aren't that many gains you can obtain from this engine without spending a fair bit of money, and even then it may not work out to be economical. The main limiting factor to these engines comes down to the ECU. Because these engines are designed to have reduced emissions and greater efficiency, the ECU seems to adjust itself around basic performance mods. If you were wanting to squeeze any extra power out of it, your best bet would be with a full custom exhaust which includes headers. For the price you pay for something like this though, you may not obtain anything respectable.
  7. I don't think any air bag kit modification to your car is legal, especially in NSW.
  8. Funnily enough, the Grand Sport is lighter than the normal Veyron. The curb weight of the normal Veyron comes in at 2034.8kg, while the Grand Sport comes in at 1968kg.

Guess you drove by him on a bad day. Like they say; s*** happens.
  10. Ingres: Had leather seat covers, front strut brace, and rear sway bar fitted. DJKOR: Fitted items listed above. Also cleaned my own car.
  11. If you have a spare US$2.1 million laying around, here's something you could consider. Take a Bugatti Veyron, remove it's top, and this is the result. With it's top on you still have a top speed of 404km/h, but with it down, you can still get a respectable 347km/h. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport | Wired.com Product Reviews
  12. Sounds logical. I could easily do that. We should trial it for a week or two. Just mention it in the meet thread if you plan to be there at 8pm.
  13. I vote to keep it on a Thursday. Having it on a Friday may reduce the turnout, or be one of those lose some, gain others scenario making it equal. At least on Thursday night, most people don't have much planned (I would expect) and on Friday, there is more chance of some other event happening. I don't know the history of the 9pm Thursday idea. I would have just assumed it's because it's at the end of late night shopping so you would think people would still be up.
  14. To quote SILVABULLIT from the thread "Factory Paint protection???" Personally, I'd just spend part of that money on good car care products and save the rest.
  15. It is written in the manual that strong radio signals can interfere with operations of the Smart Entry system. Even some car parks with enough lighting from arc lamps can cause issues due to the high frequency they use. I wouldn't be surprised though. There is enough microwave power up at the Telstra tower there to probably cook your insides well and truly, and probably make you sterile. For anyone not aware of the Telstra tower, this is what your transponder in your car is up against:
  16. That particular sun shade doesn't look so appealing. If you really wanted one, I'd look for a design similar to the one that Paul over at Toyota Nation (Princess Peach on these boards) has. It is of a better shape and looks more fitting. You may be able to find one similar for the Gen 5. Colour coding may even help as well:
  17. Bandpass box have two holes (well the ones that I know anyway) on top of the box, which sits directly below the holes on the parcel shelf. This way the sound of the bass can enter the cabin instead of being trapped in the boot. Thanks for explaining that Dan,now i understand... :) Actually Lee, what you have there is very close to a bandpass enclosure, just not sealed and tuned appropriately. Maybe this can give you some ideas. My sister used to have a bandpass enclosure in her car because she had a small car and wanted to retain some room. Their main purpose is efficiency. When built correctly, they can give higher SPL than a sealed enclosure, but way smaller than a ported enclosure of equivalent SPL. The best way to picture it is by diagram: I'd absolutely love to sit in the middle. I'd make sure to leave the ski hatch down as well.
  18. Hypermiling the Aurion... that statement seems a bit laughable. I know I didn't buy the Aurion to get good fuel consumption. Anyone buying it for that reason as well should have a think again. I would advised against changing between N and D while there is any momentum in the car. Just by visualising it, you can imagine the un-necessary stresses you are putting on to the transmission. The only time I shift into neutral is when I am at the lights on relatively level ground. Not to save fuel, but so I can take my foot of the brakes and reduce the chance of putting a hot spot on my rotors. I'm still a bit over-cautious with them at the moment. With respect to the fuel saving benefits of shifting to neutral when rolling down a hill, Hiro Protagonist has explained this pretty well. It's aimed more towards a manual, but in autos, there shouldn't be 'too' much difference: Serious? I wish the gear selector had a button you have to press before you could push it into reverse like most other autos. The design of the shifter doesn't really make it all that difficult. I have accidentally changed it from R to D while rolling backwards at about 5km/h. I was just giving it a quick flick so I could roll back a little more and accidentally went too far. My engine stalled as a result with no rough feeling so I was glad it did that.
  19. I'm with Rolla Boy. I would just work more hours to get more money for fuel. I wouldn't get rid of the V6 even if fuel was to go up to $2 a litre. Snap. BKS, it was all in good humour.
  20. Well fancy that. lateralus had the right idea there. I guess it explains why it was running rich at start up. Sucks to hear about the grill. It's like they can't get everything right.
  21. I was wondering what took you so long since I gave that advise at the beginning. Cable ties FTW. Have saved my a** many times. That's how I installed my ballasts at first. Then I got my hands on some self drilling metal screws. Put one through the bracket to hold it down but left the cable ties on to prevent any movement.
  22. That should go into the Brisbane Meetup thread. But yes, I agree with the idea of starting the meet at 8pm. I sometimes waste an hour or two at home before the meet. If we have a monthly dinner thing though, I'm sure we would have that at 7:30pm like last night. I don't like that whole argument either... except if it's based on track figures. Someone always tries to be the hero and ends up wrecking something. That's why I absolutely hate being at the front of anything like a mountain run. I like to always follow because the guy in front will always set the upper limit for me. Hell yeah!!! I can't wait till QR in September.
  23. I reckon next time when I actually have new tires and a few little tweaks, I'll still keep up with you :P No one should EVER doubt the Aurion
  24. Today is the usual cleaning day, but instead I gave it a good hard run around Mt. Nebo. Very surprised how well the Adrenalin's still grip at the end of their life and also learnt that I need even better brake fluid and pads. Next thing on the list I guess.
  25. Yes... but more like Mmmmmm. I can't wait.
