It lets the curious people check out why I did it in the first place, and secondly, because I don't want to fish out my links from YouTube: As well, it's quite easy to sample the iGO8 software (which is the easiest to download for this unit as the link is posted around here) by heading to your local gadget store like Harvey Norman and playing with their Garmin GPS units. Most of the Garmin GPS units run iGO8 so that will give you a feel for it. And since you asked for pics, I may as well throw them in:

  3. For something such as this, you're only luck would be with the Toyota spare parts department. If they can't identify the proper part and can't help you out, I would check it out for myself. It shouldn't be hard to open up the Toyota Link unit and have a look at what it uses. If you're skilled enough, you may even be able to repack it with some Ni-MH batteries. I guess Toyota didn't anticipate the batteries in these units to lose their life like that.
  4. Do it. LOL. Maybe to be safe lower it to the point that there is no visible gap between the arch and tire (for the rear anyways; the front looks just right). Cause if you are going to get it aligned, you may as well get it right the first time. Also let us know how it transfers bumps back to the car. I mean that as in whether or not you hear the shock being transferred to another part of the car, ie. the dash.
  5. Well, bouncy suspension is one sign that your shocks are gone. Take it into your nearest suspension specialist so they can check it out.

  7. What on earth did I say that directly attacked you? I was just saying that I was being lazy (because I am and I can't touch type) and quoted myself. Why should I not have the right to quote myself and save on typing the exact same thing again, when that is my input for the question at hand? It is also to maintain accuracy and to prevent statements that may accidentally be contradicting to others. I even typed the first sentence to show that I am not posting this to offend you in any way; because I suspected that you may take it the wrong way. You need to chill out man. You asked what (quote) 'what have you guys been using?'. My answer was just that. How was that not constructive? I even included a response to your question asking what I thought about the 5 Star Shine. Maybe you should type your post into Wordpad and think about if you asked the question properly before posting. You did not specify everything (as shown in your second post) that you wanted our replies to cover in your first post, therefore how can I answer a question you have not asked? And as well, I skip some steps here and there in regards to doing the perfect paint treatment. That's why I included the last link which includes some of the best tips I've come across on the boards here.

In the thread over at 'ABOUT PAINT protection & Glaze Guard', this is what I have to say: I just love how deep the colour comes out after a waxing with NXT 2.0: As for the 5 Star Shine, I can't care how many washes a wax is guaranteed for. After just one wash, I am already unsatisfied with the finish and it is then time for another waxing. a 5 year guarantee is a bit pushing though in my opinion. Just marketing hype. The one reason they pass this off as normal is due to the fact that most motors these days are assembled with the assumption that all pistons will fit equally well in all cylinders and does not allow for variations in the size of engine cylinders or pistons. The pistons of slightly varying size are not individually matched with the cylinders of slightly varying size. However if they both fall into the correct minimum and maximum specifications, then they don't need to fix it. This would probably be why each case varies and yours for example may be solved better with your chosen oil type. There is the potential that you engine may have the both the cylinders and the pistons on the minimum specification which makes yours more noticeable compared to others which have pistons and cylinders that are more tightly matched.

  11. I wasn't referring to the owners manual but the actual 2GR-FE service manual (which actually recommends 5W30, but in Aussie climate, 10W30 is no different). I apologise that I wasn't more specific there. As for the grade of oil, if you just wanted to solve the cold start issue, why not move to a 15W40 so that the oil is not too thin when cold and should fix the noise, and not too thick when hot so as to reduce economy? The thing you need to remember here is that when it comes to a cold engine, the first number in the viscosity rating is all you need to worry about. The second number though is where you need to be concerned. The primary issue that you may come across is that you may experience less economy because the heavier oil will flow less easily. In addition to that though, the ticker oil has the potential to disrupt the oil flow characteristics of the engine and may even create higher than normal oil pressures. I can see in the actual owners manual that they say you can use 20W50, but being such a new engine, I would not even consider moving to this oil grade so soon. But that said, this is my personal opinion from the way that I have learnt about it all working. If you are satisfied with the 20W50, then continue to use it then. I'm not going to stop you, I would just rather stay close to the engine recommendations.
  12. If it's under warranty, then take it to Toyota. It's been 10 days. Do so then post up what they have to say about it. That way if anyone here gets the issue, we know what they have to say. And if the car weren't under warranty, a light cut and polish is just going to act on the clear coat and by the time that section is cleaned up, it wouldn't have stripped it off. Clear coat is pretty tough.
  13. From far it just looks like something that would rub off. On closer inspection it looks like the surface wasn't completely smooth before they sprayed it. What I would do in that situation is get some cut and polish and buff at that surface, then see what the surface looks like afterwards. Then follow with some wax or something. That's what I would do anyways.
  14. It's hard to pinpoint, but BONDIE's ride doesn't have that over-the-top gangsta look to it. Even after a lip kit, it would still retain its styling that would make it suitable for Australian roads, and not something you expect to see in the ghetto parts of the States. At the end of the day, it's your car and you can do what you want with it. Sure you can make yourself unique, but if you go overboard, you are just going to fall into a differently stereotypical category. Everyone has different ideas on styling. You will always have people criticising regardless of what you do. It also comes down to demographics. You are subject to more stereotyping when there aren't many cars around that follow similar traits. One thing I noticed with Australia is that certain trends pick up fairly quick, but people also get over it pretty fast. Just look at all the craze that followed Fast and the Furious. Sure there are still ricers around, but it seems like most people have just gotten over it. The VIP trend also didn't really pick up here, the only cars that can really get away with it now are the 300C's. Even still though, you get stereotyped as gangsta with them. If you think something looks great, then that's all that matters for most people. You can never satisfy everyone, so as long as you feel comfortable, then go for it.
  15. A few variable can come into play such as how much weight is in the car, the surface of the road being driven on, and not to mention the actual tire itself. Usually when they provide you with a recommended figure, they tend to be the most suitable for everyday driving. Unless we all have the exact same tire, there is no one ideal answer. When I got my Adrenalins, Bridgestone recommended 36 PSI all round. So far it seems to be a good level and is not causing any uneven or excessive wear.
  16. Leroy, you saying that all the members here adding light kits, Thai grills, fat 20 inch rims etc are all wannabee's by making there cars look more luxurious than it really is? Azza73 No... I'm saying that if you go as low and shiny as the examples in your first post, then the effect is lost. (Eg. you no longer look important anymore, just another bling machine out the front of a nightclub) I personally think that if you took the rear wing off the TRD Aurion, it would actually look more executive (and thus VIP) than those in the first post. I do agree with you there Leroy. Styling a car like the Aurion to be like the ones shown in that link in the first post does look gangsta. It has been stereotyped to much and with the wrong person driving, it just looks wrong. It is a style which we don't really follow here and would look seriously out of place. One the car gets to the point that you can say something 'Bling' about it, you have just gone too far. But each to their own.
  17. $30 Super Cheap Airhorns FTW. But I really agree with you there. The Aurion horn does sound really p*** weak and girlie. I just replaced it with two low frequency horns for $14 each from Super Cheap. I did that because at the time I though air horns would be over the top. After having to use my new horns a couple of times, I then realised that you're gonna need something louder to get your point through to the other crap drivers out there.   19. Logically, yes that thicker oil will reduce that noise, but that oil is far from the recommended oil for the 2GR-FE. The recommended oil is 10W30 for most Australian conditions and I wouldn't want to go any thicker for the oil. You may be reducing the noise and having greater peace of mind, but you could also unknowingly be putting extra wear on your engine. Also, there has been some discussion over on the Aurion boards.   20. Retrofitting HID's into halogen reflectors is most definitely not legal. Even retrofitting into halogen projectors is not legal. A proper HID projector will be self-levelling and will have washers located on the bumper. The projector design itself is also a little bit different. Also, don't put HID's in your fog lights please. They will have extremely bad glare.

  23. I'm not sure about your Camry, but if your shocks are the cartridge type, the top part that holds the cartridge down could also be a little loose. This is distinguishable by a knocking sound. You would really notice it in this case cause it sounds like your wheels are loose or something is going to fall off. If your shocks are a full strut replacement, then disregard this possibility.

  25. Go the suspension. Better handling will provide much greater gains than the CAI. But to read the question differently, the idea of suspension would also seem to be the better idea because when it comes to suspension, you are playing around with the physics of the car. It is a lot more involved than a CAI in my opinion.
