21 as of June. Seems like the downhill run has already begun for me. Been driving a Toyota since I was 16 and a half.

hey give us a call been tinting 4 about 23 years bob 0411 333 069 23 years eh? In your other post you mention 14 years though? Also, wouldn't this be classified as advertising? I'm sure you would still need to comply by the rules before advertising your services (if that is allowed).

For the average person, no you are not able to dim the centre console lighting. But for those willing to pull stuff apart, then yes, it can be dimmed. I pulled my old stereo apart and placed some tinted film in front of the LED's. Dimmed it to 2/3 brightness and was much friendlier on the eyes.

Okay. Look; there is only one real way to settle all the arguing. DO A MANUAL CALCULATION. I can't car less whether the trip computer on the Aurion is a work of art or not; I'm not going to rely on it for close to accurate. I say we keep this thread running and you can keep posting trip computer readings for comparison, but at the same time, we start another thread where you can post your manual calculations for real accuracy. On a side note, when I do a manual calculation, I run the car till it says empty (and 0km cruising range) and then drive it an additional 80-90 km to make sure I'm close to 'true' empty.

Welcome to TOCAU. Your ride looks nice mate. As BONDIE said, putting chrome on the front grill will be way out of whack. The lucky thing with the Sportivo's is that there is a charcoal trim on the front and back which blends in perfectly with the grill. And just like he said as well, it is your car and you make it look just how you feel. You're car should carry your personality as well. Don't make it confirm to what others want. Are you located far from the CBD? If you aren't too far out, you should join in on our weekly meet (well most of the time).

Keep us posted on your installation progress. And take lots of photos.

Sure have man. Was quite surprised to see it arrived in Australia already. I really can't wait till it arrives now. PM sent. did it say you can do all that stuff in your camry manual or did you find out somewhere else? Because it does'nt mention anything about options in the aurion manual. Likke i said my brothers ve commodore has all those options and you can change them yourself anytime. pitty aurions dont :( You can find all the information about what can be customised from the service manuals. It does suck that you need to bring it into a service department to have it done, but unless you can find yourself an intelligent tester from Toyota, then you don't really have any other option for this car. Now when I did my door lock customisation, I had it done at the same time that I had my new keys programmed to the car. That way I thought I could save on time since they would already have the intelligent tester plugged into the car. Now as a result, I am not sure on how much they will charge. All I know is that to have my new key and remote coded to the car and have my door locks customised, I was charged $49.50 (GST inclusive). As a courtesy, I have taken a quick look through the service manuals and here is all that I could find for customisation. There may be others, but this is what I could find in my search: Automatic Air Conditioner (climate control): Door Locks: Illumination: Key Reminder: Theft Deterrent: Theft Deterrent (with Smart Entry):

Wow, this tread really went off topic. Someone should have just started an LED thread. But in all interest (and hoping to leave it there until another thread is made), I will answer it here. The 25 LED SMD replacement that I mentioned is brighter than the stock filament bulb in terms of intensity. LED's however have a major issue in that they may be of equivalent or greater brightness than a bulb, but unfortunately don't project that light the same distance without focal lenses (which narrow the field of illumination). So by replacing the reverse lights with those LED's will yield a brighter and cleaner look, but it will not light up as much behind the car as the stock bulbs.

Hey mate. It is true that you can customise features for the doors and lights. Just look in the service manuals. Bear in mind that you will most likely need to pay a service department to do this. I had my door locks adjusted so that on the first press of unlock on the remote will just unlock the drivers door, and the second press will unlock the other doors. Feels more secure that way.

All from eBay. A search for 'T10 5 LED white SMD' will come up with the ones I bought for the parkers/number plate/interior, and 'T10 25 LED white SMD' will find the ones I used for my reverse lights. I am able to change all the T10 bulbs in the Aurion for LED's in under 15 minutes, and that's including the parkers. Probably double that if you don't know 100% what you're doing.

Nah, mate. I had the stock 6-stacker in when I got the car. The navigation head unit is aftermarket. It's the one discussed in the following thread: DVD player with 7" Screen Installed Yeah, I thought I would be a bit different in regards to the exhaust cutout. I figured not too many people out there would be willing to do it, so it makes it a little unique having it :P Well, we'll see how far I make it. LOL.

Well here I am ;) . With the HID's, there are many different types you can get off eBay if you choose that approach. You just need to do a simple search of 'H11 HID' and you will find more than enough options. When choosing a colour temperature (the figure with a 'k' at the end), you need to figure whether you want the best in performance or best in looks. I'd recommend 6000k if you want the brightest, or 8000k if you want the best in looks. With that said, even the 8000k is really bright. In case you are curious, I bought my HID's from the eBay seller "SUNSTAR-HID". They say you usually get what you pay for, but with HID's that can be obtained for as little as $60-$70 from eBay, you can't really go wrong. I have been using cheap kits for a while without any issues. Just make sure you install them tightly otherwise you have the potential to end up with this... and this is a more expensive kit.

So before I get on with the bulk of it, I'll start of with a couple of points. 1) I most certainly know about the issues I will run into should I ever get busted for it. I am willing to take that risk. No need for anyone else to state the obvious to me. 2) Yes, I know this seems like a messy modification. The more cleaner method would have been a Varex solution, but I chose not to go down that path. This is what I wanted to do so here it is: For years now, I have been looking at these things called 'electric cutouts'. I liked the idea of them, but this was during my phase when I was about to buy a 200SX. When I got the Aurion, I thought I would never go ahead with it for this car. So a couple of Saturday's ago, while helping to install a mates (Grande_TRD) HID's, his neighbour offered to remove my rear mufflers so I could go for a drive and hear how it sounds. Well after that drive, I though I would buy one for the fun of it. I went online, ordered one for USD$199 and waited about 5 days for it to arrive. Here are some photos of it that I took just before I had it installed, and then a couple of pictures of it underneath the car: I have mounted it just behind the resonator so effectively all it is cutting out is just the two rear mufflers, essentially replacing the need for a twin Varex setup. I would have wanted to mount it further back towards the y-split in the exhaust, but due to the size of the cutout, it wasn't quite as possible. Additionally, it would be way more obvious from behind in that spot and would give me a greater chance of being caught with it. As well, I have a feeling that I run a higher risk of it scraping if it were mounted further back. I didn't want to put it in front of the resonator because in my opinion, it is already really loud without the rear mufflers. That is my opinion anyway. The butterfly is completely variable and is controlled with a switch that I have mounted in the centre console. It take just under 5 seconds to go from one end to the other. The problem that you get with these units however is that when they hit full open or full close, if you keep power applied to the stalled electric motor, it will reduce it's life. Next week when I have time, I will build an electronic motor controller which will detect the limits and cut power to the motor to keep it from wearing out. As you can see from the photos, the ground clearance on this is pretty low. I measured 90mm. So far with only myself in the car, I have had no issues on any driveways or speed bumps that I have encountered over the last couple of days. Surely once the rear is loaded up, this will be bound to change, but I'll just continue to take it easy and hope for the best. In relation to the sound, when wide open it sounds nice but is pretty loud. It's to the point where I think that maybe this idea was a little over the top. Buyers remorse then starts to settle in. Either way, I figure I can just keep it closed when I don't want it making noise, and if and when I finally get sick of it, I can just replace the electric cutout for a blank plate that will remain bolted on. As for any other gains from this installation, I guess I will say none. When cruising down around with it open, it appears that my average fuel consumption as calculated by the on-board computer goes down by about 0.2-0.5 L/100km, but that could have been caused by anything. Throttle response? It feels like it is ever so slightly improved when the valve is fully open, but that is probably my head messing with me. As well, it is most likely back-pressure related, but acceleration at lower speeds (where the accelerator isn't pushed hard) seems to feel a bit worse. I say feel because I haven't really compared it. It is probably two-fold as well since my mind is also registering all this extra noise yet no gain. It's really hard to say based on driving around the street. Now I tried to get a video, but I only have a point-and-shoot with a pretty basic microphone. I took a video from the side looking at the cutout so you can hear the variation. The video doesn't do it any justice. In person and under load it sounds much different. I was also going to take video from different angles, but since I did this from home and I have neighbours around, I didn't want to keep up the noise for a while. You should get the idea though. Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!

As much as I really hate Apple, I must say, the iPhone is definitely a sweet phone. In terms of design and functionality, the iPhone beats any other Windows Mobile based phone out there. With that said though, I'm still a Sony Ericsson fan and will either buy an X1 (Windows Mobile 6) or a C905. Your phone of choice all comes down to what you really need. The extra features of the iPhone just aren't usable enough to justify buying one. But yeah; go the iPhone.

Scraping bumper/side-skirt every MONTH URGHHH!!
DJKOR replied to clementwcm's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
I would agree with you there. The kit on the Sportivo makes it seem lower than it really is, but the car itself feels pretty low to me... for a car that left the factory with that specification. I am extremely unlucky in that all my friends have some of the worst driveways imaginable. I always have to take that little bit of extra care when attempting to take it on, and even still, I sometimes manage to scrape. But at this point in time though, I am no longer worrying about that to a degree. I just measured something under my car, and found that I have just 90mm of ground clearance with it. I don't what to think about the effect of going over a speed bump with a weighed down car. The bumper issue reminds me of this: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! -
The 'A' pillars are on either side of your windscreen. 'B' pillars are the ones separating the front and back doors, and 'C' pillars are the ones on either side of your rear window. That's what you were asking right?

Yeah, I would love to get a set of eyelids for the Aurion. I reckon it would look sweet. Sidetracking a bit; yeh I got some stuff done on my car yesterday. Tomorrow I will clean my car, take photos and type up a post, show it off at the meet, and then submit the post when I get home. I wouldn't be too excited though.
-
It must be the size, but the eyelids on your old Rolla make it look sleepy :P

Twelve hundred. Man.... there is really that much money to be made in that business. LOL. Maybe I should start my own car electrical installation business. Anyways, I reckon you should get the camera and play with the wiring and whatnot, and have a feel for whether or not you can do it yourself. If not, then take the camera with you to a professional. As for the loading screen, the instructions were all here. The 'data.zip' file is contained in the main iGO8 directory when you download it.

They are Kings springs. :P

And it would make me wonder what would have happened if you didn't give us a heads up? Since it doesn't come up under an 'Aurion' search term, it would have been lucky for the first bidder if no one else found it.
-
Wow. Nice ride you have there. Good to see the mods for the Aurion's coming along. OMFG!!! I would drive there just to pick that up. Thanks for the heads up.

Selling TRD Aurion for only $35,000
DJKOR replied to rhapsody647's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
Surprisingly, whenever I see an Aurion around here with cop trim on it, I can't help but stare at it because it is still such a hot looking car.
