Hey all, im new. :)

I want to ask corolla owners about 2003 levin and sportivo model(manual).

as u may know, im currently looking for a manual car. i was gonna get a 180sx but insurance was a problem so im not gonna.

im currently lookin at corollas. i've heard these cars are quick and reliable. my question is, which model should i go for ?

insurance(full comp) for the sportivo model is 1800 and for levin its 1300.

i know sportivo has a faster engine fitted. but is the extra 500bux worth it ? or should i go for the levin ?

does any1 know the 0-100km time for a standard levin ? sportivo does it in 8.2 secs(which is still not that fast).

finally how much should i pay ? cheapest levin ive seen is around the $22000 mark and for a sportivo, $26000 (dealer price).

yep ive heard about the sportivo gear box problems, but if i could get a sportivo for the same price as a levin(both 2003) which one would u recommend ??

thnx all

Sportivo every time!!!

And that 8.2 for the standing hundred must have been in reverse. It is a lot quicker than that. A good driver can get another 0.5 to 1 second off that!

for sure go for the sportivo.

but make sure when ya test drive it you take it up to 8000 rpm and change gears because there a few of us that have had gear problems at high rpms.

and if your buying it new make sure you ask the dealer about the same issue.

kk thnx. ummm this my first time im driving a manual, so i dunno what to look for. (well, im gonna take lessons before i purchase it).

Really depends on what sort of driving you want to do and what you're expecting from it.

If you want economy with a decent amount of go - Levin

If you want a cheap performance car - Sportivo

very biased here but ...STIVO!!!

but as eddy mentioned take note of all the rattles etc.

You may not experience the changing issue straight away...but trust us when we say it could arise...and if that is the case...at the moment you are looking at a further 1500 $ to rectify this issue.

1zz also makes good comment on economy...although the stivo can get around 9-10k/l the levin would do better.....(hey pippy??)

If you are a spirited driver and love to get the most out of a car...then STIVO STIVO STIVO

If you are more layed back but still like something sporty...LEVIN!

ok, say i do end up buyin the sportivo. how much extra do i need to spend changing the problems ? if i can buy a sportivo really cheap coz of the problem. i would consider it. (any1 reckon its possible to buy a black sportivo for $22000 ?? i know thats dreaming but hey, anything is possible. cheapest ive seen is 24000 and its white.

hrmmm also about CAI. can u fit this into a Levin aswell ? also can u get defected by this mod ? finally how much does it cost ?

lol sorry for all the questions :)

ren - 22K is not out of the question I know of one black sportivo in brisbane that went for that price.

but trust us when we say it could arise...and if that is the case...at the moment you are looking at a further 1500 $ to rectify this issue.
hopefully you wont need to but if you do (see above)

Yes the CAI will for the levin.......have to check with respective states laws...but I think we have covered this in previous topics and all is good with the TRD unit :D

i used to own a 2002 levin (the same shape as the current sportivo)

i loved it, no hassles, nothing. responds well to full exhaust and intake.

the levin still has some go 0-100 isn't as quick as a sportivo..but isn't as slow as normal n/a 4cyls.

the stivo is definately quicker and more fun to have..but...problems...

i traded my levin in for a sportivo.

if i had only bought my levin in black, i would have kept it. i bought the stivo because i could get it in black AND it was quicker.

i got totally ripped off when i bought my levin from Lander Toyota. I actually PAID MORE for the levin than the sportivo from Castle Hill Toyota (yeah!)

im currently in NSW atm, but i may be moving to melbourne next yr(uni related). thats why i said i live in both states.

im looking for a 2nd hand one from dealer, must be current shape 2002+(not the face lift model), black or blue, manual and no less than a levin.

im planning to purchase this car around apr/may 2005, so ive got heaps of time to look.

also, sportivo is only a concider coz insurance for it is about 500 dollars more each yr. but ill try and talk to nrma about it and see if i can get a better price.

hrmm, 24000+ is the askin price on carpoint, carsales, autotrader etc. i saw a 2001 levin for 19000 but it has done 78k on da clock.

i got a measly $19,000 for my levin with 25,000km and in VERY GOOD condition.

Get a Levin

and Supercharge it man

Hey Grim that isnt a biased comment is it :P :P :P :P

The Levin is a nice smooth car, especially when u add full exhaust system and cold air intake. But then again, you might aswell get Sportivo and then add in exhaust system and cold air intake.

Levin with supercharger? Now that's one sick car. KW wins the DYno, but Tourqe wins the street :P
