Rattle noise from Tailgate
I have a 05 Zze and I have a issue where the tailgate plastic trim slaps against the body and rattles, any tips to make it sit flush like normal or to kill the noise, I have bought 3 new ones and have the same issue each time, 100000% sure it’s causing the issue as I put a couple spots of blutac as a softener and the noise is gone for but I want it to sit flush like it used to. -

ECU Error P1660. What is it?
Interesting. If you buy those depinning kits, you could pop the connectors out and give them a good clean and repair any that are corroded. You could also replace the plug if it's available too I guess. -

My 165K Oil Service
Hi Gents, This isn't anything too detailed, just chronicling my ongoing service history for our Aurion. This was done shortly before our trip to Nelson Bay Late December of last year. Wanting to give it and oil service and a once over to make sure everything is tip top for the journey. I took the car for a drive after a year or so of not having driven it and to my horror, the amount of brake shudder was unbelievable. Note the rotor wear too ! My wife never mentioned it to me until that point. She doesn't know much about this stuff so I gave her a pass lol.. So in the limited time I had, I decided to dig out my old "original" Toyota rotors, dusted them off and ran some 180 grit emery paper over the surface rust. Luckily for me, I actually took the time to wrap them in plastic and bubble wrap, so the rust was only light surface rust, which came off ok. I installed these and took the car for a drive to "clean" them properly. They do have a mild pulsation, but nowhere near as bad as the others. Lucky I kept them. The images you see here of the rotor swap is a light dusting of the removed surface rust and them copper anti seize paste on the flange. I thought, it will have to do for now and will be able to get by until the next brake pad change. I purchased new Genuine Toyota pads and rotors from a Toyota dealer on Ebay and have them here ready to go when it's time. Then it was time for an oil service. Same old story with new oil filter (Genuine), Nulon 5w-30 Fully Synthetic Oil, sump plug washer and a general check up of the front end including brakes. I had taken my eye off the ball with this car mainly due to my being so entrenched with my shed build. I didn't neglect any maintenance, but I wasn't able to lavish upon it the detailing I was used to giving it, so wash frequencies were extended for a little time there. I had some catching up to do. I got the service out of the way then spent a couple of days cleaning it inside and out. I remember I spent the better part of the first day just on the inside, wheels, and headlight restoration as they both had significant fading or yellowing. I promptly followed up the with actual ceramic coating, not the spray on stuff. I had some Avalon King Armour Shield IX left over and thought why not. I gave it two coats. Now I will be able to see how the headlight lenses will fair in the coming months. The spray on stuff is good, but you have to remember to top it up every 3 months or so as it does degrade and isn't as robust as the concentrated version from the 30ml bottle. The second day was the proper wash, including engine bay and under the four wheel arches, paint sealant, Rain X on the glass and then Aerospace 303 rubber treatment of engine bay plastics, hoses, tubes etc, door seals and boot seal. I didn't get any photos of this unfortunately as I was more focused on just getting the job done. Next time 😜 Here's a few happy snap at Nelson bay. The last one in the undercover parking at the Resort Hotel. I was glad I could keep it out of the sun when possible. -

ECU Error P1660. What is it?
Hi all, long time no see! Tony, it definitely happens on 50 series as well. Our 2013 Aurion exhibits the same symptoms: engine and vsc lights came on, error codes P1660 and C1201. I erase them, they come back shortly after. Will report after I having it fixed.- 1

Steering rack
Hi I have to replace the power steering rack on my 100 series HDJ100R and I have been searching on line and apart from genuine there are a lot of cheap ones available and they all say non genuine which is not a problem but I don't want a cheap and nasty one. Has anyone replaced their rack with an aftermarket one and if so can you recommend a suitable site please. -

Whine on startup..
Does the sound change as it warms up ? I was thinking power steering pump and perhaps what Ashley mentioned with the water pump. If you're handy, you could remove the serpentine belt and spin all the accessories to see which gives up an unusual sound. -

P0303, rough idle, check VSC message.
Any photos or videos? Would love to be able to do the rear plugs and coils without the hassle of removing the intake etc. Also, how do you order parts from the Goss Mechatronics website or did you get it from somewhere else? -

P0356 - Ignition Coil 'F' Primary Control Circuit/Open
Thanks for the video Ashley. Yes my connector tab also broke when I did the coil change mentioned above. I just put it back on without the locking tab and it hasn't come loose in the 8 months I've been driving it since. But now I will do this cable tie trick to be a safe. Thanks again.
