Alrite guys, i finally have the parts to do this, now what i need to find out ASAP is what tools did you all use to remove the tailight screws that hold them on the car...? is it a spanner, i can't remember how big the hole is in the back, but if its big enough, i will be right with the spanner :P

it would be a 10mm deep socket or what ever it is, or you can use the round end of a spanner that is a 10mm though mine weren't even tight i could unscrew them with my fingers

ok, cheers for that tiet :D

much appreciated :D

We'll see how i go with this mod today... :P

has anyone had any issues with this mod?

i just tried to re-wire mine so that the parkers come on instead of the brake lights but now neither of my parklights will come on at all :S

the indicators/brake lights/reverse lights all work but the park lights wont light up no matter what.

any help would be great.

cheers,

Tinno

Hey all, that looks mad do u think it would look ok if i did that to my gen 4 camry?

at the moment,

the lights circled in white are the brake and parker lights

the lights circled in black are the parkers only

i thought of making the ones in black parker and brake aswell as the white ones

lights.jpg

how do u think that would look?

Posted

it will look ok.. since the boot only has the earth and signal wire for parkers :g: , maybe you have to wire up a brake signal wire :g: im only guessing, but yeah should look ok!

and yes, i will have to run extra cables but thats kool, im pretty tech savy...i've run blue neons that come on when u open the doors, and i've wired up the whole sound system including amp by myself so it should be fine

the ones circled in black are the parker lights (come on with the headlights)

the ones in white are the parker/brake lights

This has been done before....at Altezzclub.org.au which I'm a part off have this DYI.

http://www.altezzaclub.org.au/diy/rear_fog...brake_light.pdf

If you wish to do the same to your car, feel free to use this as a starting point but please read the disclaimer at the end of the document before starting.

thanx, lol so there r other people with good taste :P

mine is a little bit different, but manageable

hey fellas, a little help please :(

Q. would it possible to tap into the existing brake light with just a single wire.. or is ground always needed?

reason for the question, is because the missing bulb for the sedan is, i think, a BA9s type globe and socket.. and from the Narva catalogue, the available socket comes with just a single wire (photo attached)

thanks &appreciate your inputs,

yuRI

i am getting the extra brake lights for my sedan done by an auto electrican.

With parts and installation costing me $150. this includes the led globes and the stop/tailight globe holder.

When i see him today shall ask him for you,

it is set-up like this because that one wire is to your taillights,

and the negative or 'ground' wire is non existent... the way it grounds is the casing itself, but this is useless if the holder for it is plastic...

if you could ask, that'd be great... cheers rocky!

i'd ask my audio installer but unfortunately they're always busy.. finally getting time to fit some mods like this aswell

No worries Yuro.

due to the rain and storm warning alot businesses were closed today. sandbagging etc. not wanting a repeat of six weeks ago. major damages due to flooding. So could not get to town but i will tomorrow for sure. and ask for you. My audio installer is excellent can always ask him questions.he will be taking my car for a couple of days. Doing alot of installing including the brake lights. thinking what else he can install while the car is there. :D :D :D

Yuro Have found that ground is needed and you can go to chasis. You dont need to find the earth harness.

many thanks for that rocky and Evo, appreciate it heaps

there must be another similar sized socket that has the required wiring

but why Toyota didn't have this throughout all the models in the first place, is the frustrating bit
