Finally got suspension done yesterday....King Lows front and rear...got them for $450 installed...they are very firm, ride is a little bit rougher but just enough to know that its been lowered a bit and handling is resonably inproved!

Im really happy with the height as it has leveled the car out alot...drop was after measurment : Front = 36mm and rear = 51mm and thats without them seating properly yet.

here are some photos, as you all probilbly know pictures dont do it justice it looks ALOT lower in real life...btw top back tire is actually in the guards :o :D

Sub is Polk momo series 800w RMS, amp is Option Audio monoblock 800w RMS....have to mention a special thanks to DJKOR for a massive help with the wiring :D

Nice work. It's things like this that really tempt me into doing it. You need to get yourself a new set of rims though. I had a feeling that maybe the Aurion would look really good lowered on the Sportivo rims, but it looks like it doesn't complement the drop the best it can. Can't wait to see it in person.

Well i got an angled driveway so im parking it so mot of the weight is on the front...hoping it will seat that more than the back LOL

it doesnt look too bad with those rims in person but im dying to get rims for it that will finish it off nice...im thinking silver rims the same colour as stock with a crome dish :D ...i really like the colour of the sportivo rim

I forgot the crucial question... How's the handling now together with the strut bar?

Also, how does the Aurion tackle those angled gutters? My driveway isn't cut out so I have the 45 degree section of gutter to overcome firstly.

For $450, it is extremely tempting. I need to figure out if it's something I will get over after a while.

handling has alot less body roll now (comparing strut brace on both springs) and can corner alt faster with no tire screch at all...very impressed

i also have a 45 degree driveway, if i take a little bit on an angle i have no problem up or down. that is another reason why i like it a bit higher at the front because i wanted to keep my front bar intact. pedders springs would be worse because they are alot lower at the front then kings........come on daryl the wildfire would go good with yellow springs :P

dam nice ride height... I'm amazed how nicely it sits just above the wheels on Lows for the Aurion. Did you get new shocks too or just using the standards?

Hopefully they will last for a while. Only time can tell I guess. Shame that the Aurion doesn't simply have the shocks in cartridge form. Gotta change the whole strut. Monroe currently don't have any for the Aurion made for lowered cars. Only for the Fords and Holdens.

Front still has heapz of space...lower it a bit more :toast:

Fabulous car.... ;)

Looking good!!! Now all we need to do is order the rear sway bar from Ultra Racing. Also, I agree that you should look for some nice rims, that will really make your car stand out.

I brought the car to Nebo and got a good test of the improved handling from the front strut bar. It really does help. I actually chickened out before the car did, especially on the last leg with those 180 degree corners.

thanks mate! front is 2 finger space between guard and tire just enough to get up my driveway luckily :)

yeh the bar does bar does really help with the new springs too...unfortunetly the day i got the spring is also the day i got put on 1 point good behaviour :( so i have to tone it down alot now until i get onto my opens. it was 13 over...1 minute ur doing 60 and one second later u look down and its 70 its about | | <--that far on the guage of the aurion:(... And having to pay for the fine rules me out in another group buy for the sway bar any time soon unfortunetly :(

Ouch. Yeah, that hurts man. I lost 3 points in one go on my P's. Surprisingly I made it one whole year without clocking up any more points. My driving toned down at first, but within one week, I was back to my usual self. It was just luck, and a sharp eye that kept me good for that period.

Then there was the kicker. You know how when you're on your opens, they say if you accumulate 12 or more points within a 3 year period you will have choice of suspension or good behaviour? Well, I thought after a year of losing 3 points on my P's that I would have them back, then it starts fresh with 12 points on my opens. Guess I was wrong. In the first year of my opens, I had accumulated 7 points, then I get a letter in the mail saying that I am getting close to my demerit point limit. Turns out they added on the 3 points I lost on my P's (now 2 years back) and I have 2 points left on my licence.

Luckily though, that first offence was on the 17/01/2006. Six more days and I then have 5 points left on my licence. Haven't lost any on the Aurion yet. All from my Camry. Actually, my last speeding ticket was 3 days before I bought my Aurion.

P.S. No need for captain obvious to come along try and give me a speech on my driving.

Wow....didn't know you guys were such hoons  I've only ever gotten one speeding fine, and that was the stupid fixed camera at Tarragindi which I completely forgot was there. It was the first weekend I got my car and well, not used to the acceleration. I'm pretty good at spotting cop cars from a distance, and after a while you kind of know where they hang out. Also, I'm generally law-abiding, unless I'm with my TOCAU friends....I hope I don't jinx myself and get my license suspended next week!

In other unrelated news, I am happy. I beat an Evo X MR not once, but twice off the traffic lights. Take that, you $70k Lancer. (Does anyone have $70k to lend me???)

Thanks to eSexSix teaching me the proper launch technique, and the fact that the ground was bone dry made it even better. Had a hint of wheelspin but still beat him fair and square. The wife was there and will do a lie detector test if necessary! ;)

the bastards were on foot hiding behind a tree with the radar gun...and they waved me over...there was no cop car in site so i had no chance in spotting them lol <_< the 1st thing they said was can you please get off the road up onto the grass, i looked at the gutter that was beside me and was like oh here we go for sure im going to get nailed by these guys for the springs. attempted the gutter.....*scaaaaaaatch*...went back a bit and bit more of an angle...........*scraaaaaaaaaatch* so hes just like leave it there mate. he had a quick look in my guards and that was it..i was like fyeeeeeeeewww :whistling:

How are your launches going....they usually wheelspin for about s second soon as you let the break off and then ur off...noones tried to race me since that time coming home from the train with u and daryl so i havnt had much more practice lol

That sounds hairy....really lucky they didn't catch you with the springs. You'd think they know a lot about these cars because they drive it themselves. I came close to getting caught once by these tree sniping cops, but the lens of the radar gun reflected light and that immediately set off warning bells and I slowed down by the time I passed him I was way within the legal limit. I guess at the end of the day, it's better to be generally law-abiding than lose our license or lives. What I like to do is accelerate very hard on known areas of the freeway that are impossible to stop (e.g. no divider, no grassy strip on the side, nowhere for them to hide) for short bursts, then slow down once I get to the riskier parts. All I need is a few seconds of fun anyway....

For some reason, after I put the decals under my mirrors, every Tom, Dic|c and Harry wants to race me. You can trust that an Asian guy like me can rice up an Aussie car like the Aurion  It has given me a fair bit of practice using your launch technique, sinsei. It works very well PROVIDED the road is dry as a bone. Also, as you mentioned, best results are obtained when easing the accelerator down steadily rather than stomping. Generally, I find that I can hold the acceleration for lot longer than other cars, probably because with a supercharger the power is more linear. They usually win for the first few seconds but once my RPMs get up there and they switch gears, I pull ahead and away. After having the car for so long, I use my ears to tell me when to change rather than eyes, so that helps as well. Because of the Aurion's transmission lag, if I don't change by 5,500RPM there will be some bouncing off the redline.

If you guys like the way the Aurion handles with the strut brace you will love it with the rear sway bar fitted as well :D

haha

well u guys are lucky bunch compared to me...!!!

i got my licence suspended 2x within the last year

why...?

coz I drive to GC everyday to work back then and lost my licence after 3 months... (then driving with a suspended one for another 3...)

then after i got my licence.... (thats when I got the Aurion...)

caught speeding 138km on a sweeper on Logan Motorway near the toll booth...

then 74km on a downhill slope on Algester Road...

im done... lol... (also thats when i came to the point that its crap driving down there everyday...)

now i could only drive again in 2nd March 2009 with 12 full points again... (no way I want to drive 1 year with 1 point too much pressure to drive...)

just a question man...seen ther picture of your car but wat size are your tires 245/30's or 235/35's? beacuse it fills the back guard nice

I reckon we should do a group buy, since so many of us want to buy stuff. If we're all in the Brisbane/GC area we can get Luis to ship them all to someone's place to save on shipping costs.

When do you guys want to do it? I need the rear sway bar and front lower bar. However, I'm getting new set of 19" Bridgestone Adrenalins next Monday ($2,200 including rim polish, buff, cleaning of brake calipers, wheel alignment <_< ), which means I have to save up again after that. Probably earliest looking at mid-Feb.
