Flip Key Conversion!!

Recommended Posts

Ok so as the title says.

Flip Key Conversion.

I have a 1985 Corona. Not that its got any keyless entry let alone central locking but i was wondering if I was to get an aftermarket kit for the central locking and keyless entry and use the buttons on the remote i was to be given and use them in an aftermarket Flip Key.

Eg. like this......

Flip Key Prado on EBAY.COM.AU

Maybe with a lil modification if the button placements where different.

So really all im asking does anyone know if there is a difference in key shape, size, width whatever throughout toyotas?

And if so what would be the closest to a corona? So I could go ahead and get one of these aftermarket Flip Key and Button Kit.

looks pretty cool mate.....saves having annoying large key hanging around....im pretty sure key sizes have changed over the years although cannot be sure......for $20 it isnt too much of a gamble really...worst case you can just use it as a keyring if doesnt work

i was getting my car washed on the weekend and the indian dude snapped mykey.

trust me, im not paying 300$ for a new toyota key. i think i might have to do this to

Get him to pay for it or the car wash is free.

And 300 for a new key i dont fckn think so!

This way is most def the cheaper alternative.

Well if you do end up doing it let us all know how it goes and maybe more ppl will be interested in doing it.

hey guys im a locksmith and we can get in replacement shells that have the toyota emblem on it and everything, they are $40 uncut or $45 cut to ur key code.

they r prone to snap coz of the sh*t design. so when they do just take the buttons out and put in to a new shell that a locksmith can provide.

let me know if any u guys in vic need a hand. or just ask a LOCKSMITH in ur area to relace the shell.

p.s make sure its a locksmith not a Farkin homo key cutting shoe repairer lol

cheers kyle

yer well a key cutter has needs no training and can just walk into there job....

i have 4 years at trade school to be qualified. (lock pick, safe opening, alarm installs evrythink lol)

but a locksmith will be able to get shells or transponder keys for the car, form there suppliers.

Hi, guys, i have bought one of the flip key...the seller say i need to cut the immobliser chip to put into the new flip key shell, otherwise it wont work, he ask me to use like big scissor to cut it out? you think is worth while to do it :P
