I'm certainly loving the progress of this beast. Mad fabrication skills you have as well.

ok so done some more tonight i get these sudden bursts of motivation for a few days then nothing for a bit

got the ally pipe ready to machine down either tomorrow or wednesday at work for my intake pipe work

and aquired some 75 series cruiser, rubber airbox mounts to mount up my airbox

sitting in its final spot

winch is fitted up, allbright style solenoid is mounted under the bonnet away from evil fingers, and its wired with a incab winch in/out switch and master switch via ign as well, which is out of the way of childrens fingers and prying eyes.

therefore winch will not work unless ign is turned to on and master switch is on. all the winch needs now is the wire fed on.

nothing to exciting just acouple of switchs the master switch is mounted on the other side of the steering wheel

also finally got around to machining the intake pipe up to suit my needs, as the lathe in my w/shop couldnt accomodate the pipe due to machine lacking care and maintenance so a mate offered to help me out and got it machined up for me.

got acouple of exhaust hangers to fab up but wont get to work on her till friday got to much kid stuff to do.

other than that i can wind the winch cable on and run a spanner around the whole thing and start fabricating a snorkel

everythings done bar the snorkel and mr engineer is coming to visit tomorrow and engrave me some blue plates, i should have no. plates by monday night as he's all ready approved it all in a meeting we had :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooo woohoo woohoo woohoo the lux is passed

the only issues we have is he'd like to see the clutch line bracket mounted a bit further from the head and exhaust header.

my first bend on the intake is a tad close to the power steering resovoir

put another 2 or 3 cable ties here and there for wiring

route the fuel line away from the handbrake cable a tad further/better

and shorten a heater hose a tad

the only thing he is still unsure on is the extended shackles but advised me to take it as it is and see if not ill put the standards back in

but overall he was mildly impressed with a number of things

all really easy simple 5 min things and had nothing to do with the engineering je just advised me for roadworthy

so monday its get 3rd party insurance to drive it into town.

tuesday drive it into town and weld steering dampner on and take it to mechanic man for roadworthy

then NUMBER PLATES

so at the end of the day it payed of to take my time with it and make sure everything is 100% right, theres nothing wrong with QLD transport if you do the job right the first time

Awesome work and congrats mate! Can't wait to see photos of the whole completed project!

Really awesome Stewy. After a marathon effort like that you deserve to have it on the road.

It took a couple visits to mechanic to get our Tonner regd so I know the relief you must be feeling.

cheers fellas its defo a huge weight of the shoulders

its going for its first camping trip in 3 or 4 years this weekend coming

heading out with the rest of the 4by guys for a boys weekend and its gonna be a doozy as the the tracks were hitting are either twin diff locked or high hp region tracks about 6 decent rigs going.

with quads, guns, pigs, and acouple of beers :yahoo:

Congrats on getting it past engineering, once the plates are on you'll be able to really enjoy the fruits of your labour!

Once again great work mate and congrats on making her legal

followed this thread from the start and i must say your fabrication skills are awesome,no job seems to hard, had to laugh when you mentioned you had to take it to the mechanic man to be checked over, sounds a tad sarcastic and so it should :D

p.s hows Frankensump doing

cheers cee-lo its gonna get a decent run/flogging this weekend see how it goes on fuel and stuff still obviously taking a few tools and spare fluids tho.

cheers 1st kill i went thru the whole thread from start to finish the other night and cant believe im at the point im at as some of my posts seemed like it was going to be an endless quest lol (it still maybe hehehehe)

i think it sucks i gotta tak it to the mechanic for the roady considering i am a mechanic lol oh well thats what happens when u have double trades lol but $80 roadworthy is cheaper than what it may have cost me to pay someone to fabricate what ive done.

and frankensump is mint i flexed it up on the forklift at work today while running and it didnt looses oil pressure so that must be a good thing

filled her up to the brim today with fresh 98 octane fuel and it seems better but its getting a proper full on tune on thursday night if i get the plates in time

today i got a winch roller fairlead so fit that up tonight and do the last of the clearance mods and also booked it in for its roady tomorrow morning so tomorrow is D-DAY

cheers

sooooo the hilux failed roady today for 4 reasons

1. no plate lights didnt work so im sacking my missus ( :nono: ) as my light checker because that was her duty for me.

2. i forgot to plug the windscreen washer motor plug back in therfore no window washers :whistling:

3. they wanna see a charcoal canister on it, no biggy

4. and since i changed my extended shackles out to factory length greasable ones olemate didnt like the shackle angle as the leafs are super long in it

fix for that is to rework the springs to acheive a better angle which in turn works for me i get to run a lower ride height with a super soft spring rate with ****loads of downtravel which is ultimate.

im actually diggin the new ride height feels alot more road friendly with really good offroad ability

other than that everything else is cool i take it back once springs are done next week or the week after and ill defo be roadworthy.

olemate also commended me on a really good job overall on the lux which made me feel better about it not passing lol

cheers

well well it finally happened

as a few know its been blueplated for friggin ages and the hard parts been the roadworthy and the roady wasnt hard for the fact that my car was dodgy it wasnt. its the useless as tits on a bull mechanics inspecting it. first guy wrote me a few things no major stuff fixxed it all took it back he then proceeded to write more thats when i told him to faaaark of and left there in a sideways manner (missus thought it looked good), 2nd guy he had no friggin idea at all he had arguements with a customer while i was there, long story short he was wrong customer was right, and with mine he wrote down things like body lift when the paperwork was on the seat next to him just had no clue.

3rd guys they were saints no bull**** aproach from me and them seen me come out the other side with a road worthy car with not one thing wrong, no under the table deals or nothing they plain just didnt find anything.

that was 2 weeks ago since then ive been waiting for extra paperwork so i can get some no. plates.

paperwork came thru and yesterday i ducked into dot and payed them some money and fitted some plates up :lol::lol:

went to tjm this morning bought a snatchy and a winch pulley to add to my collection then it was out for a test/play/try break it run at Ross and Locke for a few hrs.

heres the result :P
