Very simple (except chemical clean bit)

Open Drain Valve on the base of the Radiator - drain all coolant .

Use a good brand Anti Boil anti freeze coolant.

Not too sure what chemical they will use for the cleaning bit.

Use the Toyota coolant, comes premixed and isn't that expensive and does the job perfectly.

Any reason why you want to flush?

you also need to make sure you discharge all the air in the system after refilling it. if you're doing it yourself, are you planning on flushing the heater core as well?

personally, i wouldn't trust midas with my car...

Hi guys, I’ve never done coolant flush before. Is this the correct method?

• Open radiator cap and drain plug.

• When completely drained, tighten drain plug back, and place heater temperature to maximum position so heater core will also be flushed.

• Disconnect upper radiator hose from radiator, then place a garden hose in the upper radiator inlet and flush until the water runs clear out of the upper radiator hose.

• Add 50/50 of Toyota coolant and distilled water till radiator is full.

• Gently squeeze radiator hoses to get rid of air in the system, add more coolant if necessary.

• Install radiator cap, and run the engine till it gets to its normal operating engine temperature.

• Turn off engine and let it cool. Add more coolant mixture if necessary.

Is this correct? And will the coolant in the reservoir be drain once the drain plug of the radiator is open?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

pretty much, just makre sure when bleeding it the radiator cap is the highest point ie put a bottle or funnel to bring the water level to the highest point. i usually get it to op temp, turn it off n let it sit for 5, ull see it go down, sqeeze the hoses and watch the air bubbles come out. then u should be sweet..

best i can go without going into details

dragging out this old thread here..

how exactly do I do this right? could someone give me step by step?

do we flush using tap water or distilled water?

how do I go about flushing the heater block and engine block?

I do need to warm up the car and turn on the heater to open the thermostat?

can I run the car with the radiator cap off?

cheers!

There's a little white tap on the bottom of the radiator

Yes u can run the car with no cap

Just don't let it boil

thats for a coolant change?

how abt if I wanna flush the system? I am switching brands?

Just use water, run the car, then drain it, keep doing that.. Might have to use a stronger concentrate mix tho cause there will be more water in the motor than coolant from using water

Make sense ?

I too have to ask, why.. My 2005 Corolla doesn't require doing for 160,000 Km, according to the owners manual.
