OBDII READER FOR ZZE COROLLAS (NOW WORKING!)

After revisiting, I finally got my generic ELM 327 bluetooth OBD scan tool to work with my 2004 corolla sportivo!!

turned out the initial "handshake" needed to communicate with the ECU is quite particular, so when running the TORQUE application on galaxy S4, I set up a vehicle profile for the sportivo, then scroll all the way down to the "custom conflagration string" field an input the following:

ATIB 96 \n ATIIA 13 \n ATSH8113F1 \n ATSP A4 \n ATSW00

and here is what it does/means:

ATIB 96 \n - set the ISO baud rate to 9600

ATIIA 13 \n - set ISO (slow) init adress to 13

ATSH8113F1 \n - set Header to 8113F1

ATSP A4 \n - set protocol to Auto, 4 and save it

ATSW00 - set wakeup interval to 00 x 20 msec

Damn... Where did you get that info? I shall try it on my employees car when I see her on Monday! Haha if it works it will be great for all those sportivo guys out there! Too bad I don't have mine anymore to try... :(

I just wanted to add in something.

I tried the "handshake" setting on my friends 2006 corolla. In fact, the obdII reader worked flawlessly on his car without inputting specific details in there! (Ie auto settings) Im guessing this is because his model is the one with the electronic throttle control. Not the cable as like the previous models. So maybe they had to do a different ecu tune to the previous models.

These were one of the last zze corollas ever made as the last ones in the tsport which released only in Europe had the electronic throttle control to make room for the supercharger that was added in to the last of the models.

So if you have a zze corolla with the electronic throttle control body, then yes the ebay obdII readers do work for you. :)

Will let you guys know how it works paired with an App such as Torque. Loads of good reviews from real buyers and I've seen a couple of Youtube clips showing it in action. Looks promising...

I'm wondering if anyone's had success with OBD readers for the corolla 2004 - made in South Africa, if that makes a difference. Is there a compatible reader with app for a windows phone that anyone knows of? So far I've tried the local autoparts shop, and their device couldn't get a reading on my model.....much to his surprise.

& I've tried the local electronics shop....& again no good. The device would read the ELM but not the ECU for my car.

Any idea of a scanner device that might work ?!...Not too expensive.

Roger … the method to do this with an OBD11 device and Torque app … was explained above by 'bbjk7' on 23-Jul-14. 

I have a 2002 Corolla ZZE122R, made in Japan, and it works.

I'm kind of new (buffoon) to this ELM327 scanner which I just bought and cant get it to connect to the ECU.  My queries are:-

1. I can't find where to enter the above within Torque (both Lite and Pro)

2. Will these settings work for 2003 ZZE122R

Hello!
I know this is an old post, I have a corolla 2004 ZZE121L, I have an ELM327 v1.5, I have tried almost all the commands I have found on the internet and nothing.

The only command in TORQUE that almost works is this: ATSP6\nATAL\nATSH7E0

Says: Using Custom Init, and stuck there.

There is other codes for this car?
