Hey guys..

I've been asking around for the price of the Sportivo springs for the corolla, and at one place they told me the retail price as being $293.

At that same place they were selling it for $293 incl GST, and then I asked for installation price, and they told me $528 .. ! :blink: It could be the springs + installation, but i dunno.. I e-mailed them just then.

At another place they quoted $315 for the set and $165 fitting, and at another.... $350 just for the set.

Does $480 for springs inc. fitting sound right ?

For people who have the sportivo springs installed how much did it set you back ?

I wouldnt really bother with the Sportivo springs.

I have king lows and the look is only just passable, but the ride is still great.

As for pricing its really up to you. Supply and fit should always include 1 wheel alignment on the day and another 1000km down the track. This is because the springs will settle and may put the alignment out slightly.

Furthermore, its important that the guy doing the alignment knows what hes doing, I've had alot of reports from people using quickfit etc that they drive away with worse alignment then when they arrived. So be careful who you leave your car with.

Hmm...

Reading posts that were made a few weeks back tell me that having 'low springs' and stock shocks will wear out the shocks quicker, and so it would be better off getting both shocks and springs at the same time.

Don't wanna bring that topic up again though...

Driving carefully.. i.e avoiding pot-holes and taking it easy on humps ... that will reduce the wear and tear rate of the shocks right... but approx how long will they last ?

i was quoted $235 for the springs and $360 for installation ($90 for each corner). Bloody ripoff i'd say but that's toyota!  :lol:

Which dealer was this at ?

Glen Waverley one in Melbourne, Vic.... actually the service and parts centre up the road a bit... hmmmm what's that area called.... *thinking* mulgrave! thats it... :lol:

This has come up before and the answer is

No they're not.

The Sportivo uses the exact same springs as an Ascent/Conquest/Levin.

The difference in suspension set up is the Shockers/Dampers are tuned/valved differently to be 40% firmer, so to are the bushes. Everything else is the same.

So if you put the optional "Sportivo" springs on a Corolla Sportivo, it does actually lower the car.

I don't think this is right - if they were the same springs then the stock Sportivo ride height would be the same as the 1ZZ models, which it isn't.

Anyway, make me a reasonable offer on my as new, low km, Sportivo springs and they are yours...

      gas smell when driving hard/takes long to start

      Update: issue came back but worse with rough idling / running a year or so ago. Mechanic diagnosed it as an air filter out of place and reset the codes - issue solved for good. Car is now at 380k and running stronger than ever !😊

      2012 Hilux with snorkel stopped after getting stuck in water

      Hi guys, my sons 2012 Hilux (diesel) engine stopped when he got stuck in a deep mudhole last night. I had a quick look after driving for about 130km with a car trailer to get his car and it has been immersed in muddy water over the top of the battery. The water level on the inside of the car apparently reached top of seat height before they managed to snatch it out of the water. The car has a snorkel, however, the engine stopped whilst the hilux was still immersed in the water up to its bonnet. What would have caused the engine to stop? Typically what would one expect to need to clean out, replace etc in order to sort this?

      Definitely can't get the pump out through the hole in the floor. The top of the pump has a larger diameter than the hole. 2nd pump has arrived from the wrecker. I will be removing the tank and installing it today.

I've spent a long time looking, but I haven't seen any videos or images where that mechanism has come out through the inspection hole - I really hope I've just been looking in the wrong place!       MWR Oil Pump

      Thanks for your response, I’m just hoping and praying that the oil pump will withstand the over-revving which is why I purchased the product. Also, I know very well about the flaws of the 2ZZ in regards to the oil pump and oil sump.

      MWR Oil Pump

      MWR are a reasonably respected name in the aftermarket 2ZZ business, they're not the cheapest (especially with shipping) but the products are usually solid. In this case though it is only the oil pump gear itself which is upgraded (as that was the issue with the stock ones), the housing is new/refurbed OEM Toyota/Aisin. FYI 4340 is the grade used, it's a high-tensile chrome-moly steel. I believe the stock ones are sintered (ie powdered steel pressed in to shape at high pressure/temperature), which contributes to their propensity to shattering (although I think it is much rarer than people are lead to believe, and usually as a result of over-revving via mis-shifting)

      Engine starts but won’t rev, only idles. 2002 Hilux 4d4

      I left my fridge on in car for five days and it completely ran the battery flat. I have replaced with new battery and engine starts but only idols cannot be revved at all. Any ideas?

      Hey everyone after advice .have a 99 hilux and my speedo will read fine one moment and then will read excessively high as in off the clock at about 60 and says I'm doing 90 at at 30 any idea's on what to check would be massively appreciated.
