hey guys

i want to improve the handling of my zre... thing is im on a budget hard!

full time student and only have a casual job so im looking for things like sway bars, strut braces, springs, etc

obviously dont have 10-20 grand to spend so please dont suggest stuff like 500 strut braces like ive been seeing.. yes id love parts of that standard but for the beginning its just not gonna happen

so any suspension parts you may be selling or know of that theyre going to improve over standard but wont hurt my wallet too bad let me know

thanks in advance :)

No pay no play im afraid. But probably best thing to do is a keep a lookout on the buy/sell thread.

If you didn't already know, (most) parts fit both hatch and sedan.

i've noticed, but ive found springs for $285 new (rrp $360+shipping) so ill go for them. thats about the sort of discount im looking for

thanks man, luckily found another ZRE sadan driver lol

ask the zre boys in nsw or do a search function.

Get coilovers. Run a slightly stiffer rear spring (I say 8kg front 9kg rear) and you can leave the stock sways in and it will handle fine. Save up and get decent tyres after that.

Just buy an RSB - best bang for buck mod

where from? how much?

if you do want rear swaybar, cusco and kmac make them, cusco is 16mm and kmac 20mm. iv got the kmac on mine with stock suspension and it made a noticeable difference. next for me is coilovers (after intake and exhaust that is haha)

google kmac suspension or greenline.jp for the cusco

well i dont want coilovers anytime soon as for daily driving ive had horrible experiances with them,... unless they 3 grand street ones they tend to be track oriented so speed humps and pot holes which i tend to run into from time to time will be trouble =[

Then just get softer spring rates if youre too soft for coilovers... the beauty of them is their adjustability and the ease of swapping components.

I run 10/8kg springs in my car and it weighs 900 kg with mac struts all round. I still daily on it and its not bad at all IMO... no dramas with potholes (because i drive around them as you should with any car) and speed bumps you should slow down for anyway, theyre there for a reason.

Thanks for the sarcasm... I love hearing the obvious. Now read my first post compare the price or coil overs to springs, sway and strut bars and tell me how it's still a smart idea to use coilovers

If you want to use them go for it, you suggested them and I nicely replyed that I don't continuing to tell me to use them especially in the manner you choose to is not going to change my mind

sorry if it comes off rude the way you put it got to me so let me put it in a better way. i've not enjoyed the ride in a car that had coilovers in it, even tho i do try avoid pot holes and i do slow down for speed humps.. **** happens, and as far as i know all adjustable suspension and non adr approved coilover are a defect and void insurace in case of an accident.

for a set of xyz coilovers.. the only ones iv found cost roughly about $1250 delivered to my door. the springs, sway bars and strut brace would cost me about 750 with out any defect i could find on forums or rta website itself. so for a decant amount less i should be getting quite and improvement on stock which is kind of what im going for

lets say my p plater inexperiance kicks in and i ram a s class and put 20 grand damage into the car.... insurance voids my cover which i already pay over $2000 for full insurance and i have to come up with the money myself? bye bye zre :(

Relax dude. I wasnt being rude, and it wasnt even sarcasm.

The cost of second hand coilovers is so cheap these days its hard to pass by, and its not difficult at all to make them comfortable. A mate just bought a set that cost him $550 shipped to his door, theyre also the comfy Tein super-streets... just sayin'

If you are an inexpierienced P-plater then drive the car as is, do some motorkhanas and track days to get lots of seat time driving the car hard. It will pay dividends over modified suspension. Then learn what each component does and how it effects the balance of the car... then you start modifying.

came of in a very "do what you want but my way is right" sort of way

anyways to the important issue, well that why i started this so people that upgrade can see id be happy to get second hand for a lower price, having no luck with second hand so far i have to go with new prices :(

im no saying im inexperianced, when i had my turbo hilux i did the engine work and suspension on it once done i was doing hill climbs with 22 psi boost and keeping control. but being a p plater im easily blamed and if worse comes to worse then what do i do? thats my question.. not to sound cocky i know few years experience doesnt match decades but im confident in my driving especially round town but like they say "**** happens"
