is it me or is the 2zz just slow

maybe its me jumping from turbo to na

well maybe its the 5 speed, 1 to 2 revs drop to 5500, but the rest im well into lift,

so what do use think it is?

i was supposed to go tonight to the creek, but it rained, also ill be putting it on the dyno, any recommendations?

what power should i expect?

damn i want more power

cheers

sportivo stock should pump out about 103.5-105 kws atw.

depending on the weather also..

yes it does feel slow if u r from Turbo to NA.. but its fun when u drag cars without lift, coz u actually see the lift pulling you away

i had a gti-r before.. but cant compare turbo to NA. :)

Your using a 5 speed on a 2zz. I think a 6 speed is better with shorter gear ratios, not sure though. However like goodboyz said no comparison between N/A and turbo. I drive my cuzs modded wrx, and jump back into the stivo feels like a snail waiting for 6200rpm.....

The sportivo is no slouch if you know how to use the power band provided. *** it's a pain though. Took me way to long to master it, argh.

I like jumping in my mates modded R32 GTS-t too wahahaha...instant drift machine lol

its not a stivo :D

its time to upgrade  .. then ull see a big difference!

if ur going to dyno .. ull prob get 65-70kw atw if it is the 1zz

I'd definately recommend trying to get a 6 speed to work in the MR-S

The gear ratios for the 5 speed just aren't up to the task.

I'd say you'd get between 105-115 kw standard...

Is the LSD interchangable? I am lead to believe it is... might be worth a try?

If not I can recommend the Quaife LSD. It will set you back ~$1300-1500 but needs ZERO servicing and no bedding time unlike the KAAS, Cusco and TRD clutch type units.

lsd is interchangable, but cant be bothered stripping are perfect gearbox, + funds arent helping much(damn bills) if i go to the creek next week, im expecting low 14, if not then something is wrong, will wait and see

my lift kicks in at 6000 and ends around 8400, what rpm does the sportivo be in, when u change to 2nd gear?

"damn 2zz is slow, is this engine overrated" <-------------------------

I'm confused then

i honestly wouldnt be expecting low 14s with a 5 speed box in the 2zz, even if it is in the lighter, RWD MR-S.

Power output could vary from 100kw atw to 120kw atw, depending on quality of your tune and any other parts.

A major advantage the stivo has over the 1zz is the 6 speed, it really addresses those nasty ratio gaps between 2nd-3rd and 3rd-4th. Also as you identified mate, you need to be constantly in high cam to get the 2zzs moving and a 6 speed assures this.

comparing a turbo 1zz mr-s to a 2zz mr-s is a joke, the turbo will munch the 2zz and be much more fun to drive, so give the 2zz mr-s to your bro and take the turbo :D

i am confused, do u have an mr-s with 2zz engine?

 Where have yous been!!??

High 14s should be on the cards ;)

so if i can keep it on lift all the way i should, run good times, damn 5 speed, but its only 1 to 2nd where it falls out,+ car weighs in at 1050 with driver and 980 without, ill probly run mid 15s on the first go, but will improve, the more times i go.

minto

yeah turbo is way more fun :D

Slip your clutch slightly on the 1-2 change to hold it at the start of lift.

that's not going to help with the 5 speed box. The ratios are all out of wack for the 2ZZ.

after searching spyderchat this is are comparison between the 6 and 5 speed ratios

Manual -- Standard 6 speed 5 speed

Manual Gear Ratios 1st 3.166 3.166

2nd 1.904 2.050

3rd 1.392 1.481

4th 1.031 1.166

5th 0.815 0.916

6th N/A 0.725

also foundUsing chrisngrod's numbers, if you were to shift at 8400 RPM, then the RPMs on the next gear would be as follows:

5 speed:

1st to 2nd: 5,052

2nd to 3rd: 6,141

3rd to 4th: 6,222

4th to 5th: 6,640

6 speed:

1st to 2nd: 5,439

2nd to 3rd: 6,068

3rd to 4th: 6,613

4th to 5th: 6,599

5th to 6th: 6,648

So, as you can see, with both gearboxes you'd miss the hot cam when you shift to 2nd gear. The theoretical top speed is 157 MPH for the 5-speed and 168 MPH for the 6-speed. If you wanna cruise at 70 MPH, you'll be at 3,735 RPM on the 5-speed and at 3,490 RPM on the 6-speed. If you are running a 1/4 mile race, you might only have to shift 3 times with the 5-speed (124 MPH max in 4th gear), and 4 times with the 6-speed (105 MPH in 4th gear). this

Reverse 3.250 3.250

Manual Differential Ratio 4.312 4.529

so with these figures what can you make out of them?

I'm pretty sure that 1st to 2nd should only drop you out of lift by about 200rpm on a very average change. Land it nicely and you will be hitting just over 6k.

Hey Silva... you had better take your sportivo in to get checked out... a ~6200 revlimit isn't quite right ;)

Nah...he means he'll land in 2nd gear just above 6K rpm. :P
