just a curious question when you people are about to stop do you downshift until you stop or just clutch in and brake. Just want to know

Brake first to slow down to desire speed, then clutch in to shift to appropriate gear or shift to neutral for complete stop. Try not to press clutch 1st then brake.

Pretty much what i do. Sometimes i might shift 1 gear down to keep the revs above 500-1000 rpm if needed.

Down shift until I stop. The Car brakes in a shorter distance, ready to accelerate again and also less reliant on brakes alone to slow down. Same reason I highly prefer a manual over an auto.

U can still down shift to engine brake in an auto.. i do it all the time ;)

Over time wouldnt this put much more wear on the clutch unless you were rev-matching each time(heal & toe)? Also its more work for no real gain.

Just the way I see it.

When I was taught to drive, about two and a half years back, the instructors told us to stay in the same gear and to brake to a complete stop, putting the clutch in when you're almost stationary... the reasoning? "Brake pads are less expensive to replace than drivetrain components"... make of that what you will.

Nowadays I do either/or depending on how lazy I feel

I heel & toe too, unless its going to be complete stop on traffic light, then I just brake till the rpm reach 1000rpm and shift to neutral.

Shao's Salespeed does it for him these days, he's becoming too spoiled.

Oh yeah, heel and toe all the way. I was told the same thing as Tayles, I got in trouble during a lesson for doing heel and toe

Yes heel toe and rev-match all the time, there's no other way
