  1. Haha....Lucky....can your other half offer TOWCA members a discount for thos who want to it..? :P Thats the thing isn't it and with the 2zzge i wouldn't really entrust anyone to recon or o'haul my engine other than Toyota. And the cost is a big thing, if its gonna cost like 5grand might as well get a brand spanking new engine for 8grand, just 3grand more for much less trouble. but i guess it really depends your LOVE for the Corolla, most would have sold up for a new car ;)
  2. Their stock car seemed to only have LIFT kick in at 6700rpm and redlines at 8400rpm something wrong there..
  3. Didn't look like the Enzo was revving it right out though <_< something fishy there..
  4. Your push bike is getting more ks than your Stivo :P
  5. Stiffer is not always better guys especially when you drive on the street most of the time. KYB and Koni shocks are great. I had 35mm Whiteline lowered springs on stock shocks for about 20,000+kms and i could slowly feel the shocks "die", especially after a few hard cornering sessions, track days, Sydney roads etc etc.. and i also carry people. The car would "bounce" on the springs after hard cornering or after driving over humps. Braking also started to suffer. Needless to say a damaged shock absorber is VERY dangerous.
  6. I might go after work, work at Liverpool anyway. I really think its all in the tyres.. :P
  7. I am not thinking of doing it now, just wondering if i do keep my car for years to come i will clock over 100,000kms pretty quickly. And at what kms would yous consider doing it? 100,000kms, 200,000kms?? Would it be worth it though or is it better to overhaul it and put brand new parts in, and while at it throw in some stage 2/3 cams ;)
  8. i find it interesrting that you said you only make a profit of 2cents. Why do i still see servos selling petrol at 13cents difference, just 2km apart!! One is a BP station selling at $1.39, the other is Caltex selling at $1.26. Then another BP selling at $1.33 What the heck is going on there? Obviously there is serious problems either with people's integrity or these servos are dumb enough to buy petrol at a much higher price than the other servo 1km down the road.
  9. Close, you forgot to add "Team" points. :) and get back to work Redliner!! :P nah seriously, food poisoning is terrible man, hope you get well very soon ;) next race is in 12 days!!
  10. They all say the Spanish grandprix is a measure of how good the cars are and every team knows this track inside out as most teams test here pre-season. These are some really interesting stats and i believe is a good measure of how strong each team is at the moment. Renault and Ferrari are very close and Mclaren and Honda are dead even. Toyota has been rather disappointing thus far but i'm sure with their huge budget they will get back up to speed. Ralph was actually pretty quick today and probably about the same pace as Honda and Mclaren. I just can't wait for all the new add-ons to go the cars. 2006 Spanish Grand Prix Pos No Driver Team Lap Time Of Day Average Speed Time 1 6 Felipe Massa Ferrari 42 14:58:40 217.320 1:16.648 2 1 Fernando Alonso Renault 39 14:54:23 217.108 1:16.723 3 5 Michael Schumacher Ferrari 43 14:59:45 216.546 1:16.922 4 2 Giancarlo Fisichella Renault 38 14:53:27 216.094 1:17.083 5 3 Kimi Räikkönen McLaren-Mercedes 40 14:56:24 215.328 1:17.357 6 12 Jenson Button Honda 40 14:56:29 215.301 1:17.367 7 11 Rubens Barrichello Honda 40 14:56:35 215.212 1:17.399 8 10 Nico Rosberg Williams-Cosworth 51 15:12:00 213.935 1:17.861 9 14 David Coulthard Red Bull Racing 55 15:17:48 213.932 1:17.862 10 16 Nick Heidfeld Sauber-BMW 49 15:08:47 213.913 1:17.869 11 9 Mark Webber Williams-Cosworth 61 15:24:57 213.827 1:17.900 12 17 Jacques Villeneuve Sauber-BMW 62 15:26:38 213.417 1:18.050 13 8 Jarno Trulli Toyota 42 14:59:41 212.288 1:18.465 14 20 Vitantonio Liuzzi STR-Cosworth 52 15:13:43 212.226 1:18.488 15 15 Christian Klien Red Bull Racing 59 15:22:53 212.150 1:18.516 16 21 Scott Speed STR-Cosworth 41 14:58:48 212.082 1:18.541 17 7 Ralf Schumacher Toyota 24 14:36:26 211.867 1:18.621 18 18 Tiago Monteiro MF1-Toyota 28 14:42:19 210.145 1:19.265 19 4 J P Montoya McLaren-Mercedes 17 14:26:22 209.571 1:19.482 20 19 Christijan Albers MF1-Toyota 28 14:41:55 209.440 1:19.532 21 22 Takuma Sato Super Aguri-Honda 42 15:02:13 207.150 1:20.411 22 23 Franck Montagny Super Aguri-Honda 9 14:16:08 202.177 1:22.389
  11. Congrats guys! What great news!! :D Time to practice changing diapers in record time rather than quarter mile times! :P :D
  12. Just wondering, woouldn't a 3SGE engine be better in a MR platform like an MRS since its 2000cc with slightly more torque and power. Is it the cost factor or is the 3SGE unsuitable? Love the 2zzge though, the 3SGE doesn't seem to rev as hard :P
  13. i have noticed that too that sometimes the revcut seems to hold off a bit longer like maybe 8250?? but nowhere near 8500rpm though.. got to admit i would love it to rev that high. and Shao is right, i also noticed when u have gas pedal slightly off when u r right on redline you will notice the revs climbing a bit higher without really hitting the rev-limiter or maybe it was smack on the rev limit but not enough gas to get it to bounce back and forth.
  14. Its interesting to notice how far Ferrari has climbed ahead of teams like honda, Mclaren and maybe even Renault now since the 1st race. If yous remember Honda's Anthony Davidson and William's Alexander Wurtz consistently topped the times for the first 2-3 races in practice. Since race 4, don't know what Ferrari did their speed improved dramatically, i believe down to some "illegal" aero mods again. They are almost 10km/h up on other teams in terms of top speed down the straight. This has been the case for the past 2 races. I am starting to think the FIA are closing an eye on Ferrai's mods since they have been multiple world champs.. the FIA are always so quick to clamp down and punish severely other teams that breach the rules slightly. So it will be interesting to see when other bigger budget teams like Honda, Mclaren, Toyota will start catching up to Ferrari and Renault.
  15. you sure you weren't a little high on intoxicants that day :P :P maybe you have a PFC but you don't know it :P but seriously the engine is only meant to rev up to 8200rpm stock. to remove the rev cut you need somethng like a full replacement ECU or some piggybacks (the new Unichip?) Celicas are the same although there were rumours of 7800rpm cutouts which sucks.
  16. im in melbourne btw, oh and ZAV you said u went to nunwading to get it done..howd it go? has the problem been fixed at all? Apparently they "fixed" a few Stivos but these people at Nunawading Toyota have since suffered from "Sudden Onset Dementia" can't remember s.h.i.t.!! hence the very typical responses. In fact i think this epidemic only attacks people workng at car dealerships, poor buggers. If they don't want to do it or say they will charge you for it tell them to get stuffed and get your own mechanic to do it because i have been through the same and it didn't do anything, THREE TIMES, THREE DEALERSHIPS. They even said to me they rang Nunawading Toyota for instructions! BS! You can do the clutch adjustment yourself with some simple tools actually, perform a search and see if you can find more info.
  17. Wollongong or Shellharbour people might see me around sometimes too, mines is a pre-facelift Black Stivo with bronze 16s, lowered, has eyelid, Stivo front grille and rear skirt. Wave or honk when u guys see me :D Today a Lime Green superceeded model Corolla Seca with plates WRC18L, had exhaust, aftermarket wheels and we had a bit of a run around Shellharbour. He would be quite even with a 1zz i believe. He had a good jump on me, i couldn't get into 2nd (damn 2nd gear!) and i still beat him by 1/2-1 car length :D that's only just into 3rd before i backed off bcos that area has too many you know whos around. ;) If you visit this forum give me a PM and we can catch up sometimes with the other boys :)

  19. I believe its a common problem with this gearbox. Actually the problem is already well known since the Celica debuted in 1999!! Few ways to solve individual issues though.. For sticky shfter, u need a "clutch adjustment" (good luck with Toyota) or a new clutch kit. For crunching, could be clutch as well but try gearbox oil change. I recommend a change of gearbox oil to see if it gets better. 2500kms after i had mine changed, i can say TOYOTA'S GEARBOX OIL SUCKS!! i crunch reverse more than ever, with my old oil (Castrol Syntrax reverse is great) btw Reverse gear has no synchros so it will be easy to crunch. Now to oils, Castrol Syntrax is a GL5 extreme pressure 75W90 gearoil so it is fantastic for gear protetction and is very good for track work. For street i found it quite good for about 30,000kms and landed LIFT 1-2-3-4 no problems at all.. but then all of a sudden i can't land 1-2LIFT anymore and crunches every time i shift super fast. I am going to get Redline MT90 GL4 75W90 put in in a month or so when my next service is due. It is reputable for solving shifting problems and synchro problems so i shall see. ;) if nothing helps and crunching is getting worse even on downshifts your synchros are most likely stuffed.. speak to Toyota then. btw guys, it is not just our gearbox that suffers.. a lot of Hondas (reknowned for super slick gearshifts) suffer from gearbox issues too, like Civics, Integras (even with tripple cone synchros) and S2000s and even the lengendary NSX!! But FWDs are usually worse off and onset earlier, don't really know why.
  20. no problem mate.. i can be a little long winded at times but yeh just thought i should share my experience.. enjoy 1-2LIFT while it lasts! :P I sure did when i was able to do it and was constantly a V8 menace in my neighbourhood :D (actually i still am.. but just picking on autos only) :D
  21. HEY REDLINER!! WHERE ARE MY 4 TEAM POINTS!!?? Cry!!!
  22. At the moment looks like Toyota and Honda are in a bit of trouble, but we will wait till the BSpec engines and aero goes on. Williams look fast too so long as they remain reliable and Ferrari is bloody quick.. i noticed how much quicker they were down the straight in the last race and this race, Renault has no chance catching them down the straight.
