  1. I wonder if this will mean Toyota as a whole might legitimise TRD components in Australia? Only Toyota Oz is dumb enough to not do that yonks ago considering how long TRD has been around and in overseas markets <_< Maybe all the TRD bits we all bought for the Stivo caught a few Toyota numbskull's eyeballs here..
  2. Do you mean downshifting from, for example, 5th?. B/c I tried it once when I was doing 80km in 5th and downshifted to 2nd. My friend in the passenger seat literally got chuckled bad. The revs jumped from like 3000 to like 8000 and back to 7000. All together, an amazing feeling. :D SUGE!!!!. btw, i own a 05' stivo. I suggest everyone should try it. lol. 8000rpm in 2nd gear you would be close to 100km/h ;) pretty brave to try that though or did you just miss the 4th gear slot?
  3. I think the oil they will use should be the same as whats in your car right now but gearbox oil gets dirty too with metal shavings etc and gearboxes have no oil filters to catch this stuff so i just think its good practice to change it regularly (i do mine evry 20,000kms but some "experts" actually recommend to do it every time with the engine oil especially for FWD cars. I had Toyota do the oil change using their unknown gearbox oil (most probably Castrol) and universal lubricant, and i have since travelled 2000kms so i will give you a review. The gearshift mini-shudder when i down shift from 3rd to 2nd has disappeared It feels more rubbery and much better when the car is cold in the morning, but i still crunched when i tried to super-shift 1-2 (which is just very fast shifting like when you try to drag someone, and NO its NOT my driving ;)). I think the gearbox can only take so much of that before the synchros protest. I was told it is a known problem especially for FWDs and most 6 speed boxes over time get issues like that? Nothing wrong with gearbox so long as i slow down my shifts a bit, just can't super-chirpy my 1-2 anymore which is frustrating :(. Redline oil will go in when i get my next service done and will give it another review. and $117/- for oil is a bit of a rip-off to be honest but i had to give it a try since everyone says its good ;) Other brands of Full synthetic gearbox oil like Castrol will also set you back around the $75 mark for 3 litres. I had Castrol Syntrax in my gearbox prior to using Toyota's oil.
  4. I still get a pretty big kick when LIFT kicks in at 6200rpm and i have had the recall done a while ago. So what actually was fixed on your mates car, just the oil pressure pump?
  5. Where is that very old Honda Integra TypeR (DC5) vid of the dude shifting into 2nd instead of 4th... revved waaayyy off the tacho but nothing really happened to his car, like it didn't go bang or loose control. I do have experience in a car with a piston that sh!t itself though, it goes like this... you take off from a standtsill, into 2nd gear, revv and all of sudden its like someone jammed on your brakes or like you hit an invisible brick wall and the bloody car jerks forward aggressively not fun.. That's my expeirence, the car took 8 weeks to fix, overhauled engine and cost the dealership $6000 B)
  6. I don't think the facelift "fixed" anything, the only fix was the recall we had for the 03'-04' models. try and get Toyota to change your transmission fluid, gearshift should feel immediately better. You can also try Redline transmission fluids like the MT90 which cliams to fix gearshifting issues and is one of the best you can put into your gearbox. I recetly got some, you will need 2.3litres so get 3 x 1litre bottles, cost me around $117/- delivered to my door.
  7. DRIVERS: Jenson Button Fernando Alonso TEAM: Honda FASTEST LAP: Fernando Alonso POLE: M Schumacher.
  8. Nice pics guys, kinda regret not making this meet but was seriously busy. So when are we all heading down to Wakefield or WSID? i am keen!! :D btw.. where are the vegies guys :P :P
  9. I have had this problem ever since i purchased my laptop 3 years ago, after formatting the comp its ok but as soon as i come onto this website it comes back!!! p.i.s.s. off you sick son of b.i.t.c.h.e.s. making lives inconvenient for people.. get a life!!! DO SOMETHING STEVE!!!
  10. Can't go to this one guys, got something on in the afternoon. maybe will come out to the next meet and cruise ;)
  11. The XR5 looks the goods but i don't think i am going to buy another "high performance" FWD car. It has to be RWD or AWD for me. :)
  12. I don't think we all should be that p.i.ss.ed off abt petrol prices bcos as far as i know at the rate the world is consuming it we will be out of it pretty soon along with many other things ten times more important than petrol. I anticipate a greater worry, and that is WAR over land with sea levels rising, natural resources like oil (which already started with Bush snr more than a decade ago), clean water, food, diseases, or who knows we might even have to fight for fresh air one day!! Rapidly developing nations like China and India probably make up 25% of the WORLD's population, imagine the extra strain on the Earth's resources when everyone can afford automobiles, bigger housing hence more energy consumption, too scary to think about really and we cannot deny their opportunity to progress. Bottom line is we as humans since our fore-fathers have brought all these problems on ourselves throughout our evolution, and in the process we take things for granted, destroy the Earth we live in and everything else that goes with it. We have been too greedy and too selfish to share and recycle to make things sustainable, and this is what we get for it. I am not telling everyone to be pessimistic here, maybe there is still hope?? but we just got to face up to the consequences of our actions and not blame others for it. It's a fact we should all keep at the back of our minds and educate our next generatioin so they don't make the same mistakes, and vote the Greens! :P :P :P
  13. i think the only problem with used engines is that some might be in better condition than others depending on the previous driver and maintenance record. Do these used engines come with warranty at all?
  14. Sorry man i'm out coz can't spend that sort of $$ on it anymore :( hope you guys still have enough people.
  15. i can rev past 7000rpm even before the temp gauge is at midway (needle was about 1/4 way up), did it by accident one cold night :P Get Toyota to check the car out man and demand for a courtesy car FREE of charge bcus they stuffed up your car.
  16. Honda choked indeed (considering only 1 driver is performing so far) but Button had decent pace would have made the podium if not for the 2 x pitstop screw ups. Mclaren didn't do too well either, Raikonen was disappointing with Montoya being lucky coming in 3rd reeling in others misfortunes. Bad luck for Toyota too, they had alright pace from Ralph but not good enough to catch the front runners. Schuey's Ferrari was quick, had a bit more straight line speed with their B-spec engine it seems. Alonso was consistently quick as usual with a very fine package, just bad luck its Imola and he couldn't pass at all for like 30laps.. and i think if the other teams don't buck up Renault is gonna run away with it like last year. Interesting to see that there will always be one driver from each team performing poorly.. Barichello, Raikonen, Fisichella, Trulli, Massa... Trulli didnt perform poorly, his car had steering column problems, he even overtook kimi off the line :D . Im still puzzled on why they kept Ralf on a 3 stopper <_< everyone else was 2 stopping and sud have changed wen they realise that it wasnt goin to work. Well toyota was never good at Imola so i guess its not a big lost in a way Personally its good to see Schu win again, theres been alot of trash talk on the champ, so this will shut them up B) and wot a place to do it :D disappointing day for Honda and McLaren... honda just had a mess of a race (and jenson coped a shot in the head ) and barrichello wasnt even fast.. and to rub it in more, this was supposed to be their best chance in winning . At least Montoya got 3rd. Glad this GP was out of the way.. found it a bit boring due to the lack of overtaking.. and wots with the tv director?! didnt show anyone else apart from schuey and alonso lol the TEN ppl got all ****** off cause they didnt show Webber the whole time Yeh the race broadcast sucks.. was a bit boring like you said and i find Imola not an exciting track cos its so narrow. Jenson Button must be jinxed, can't win in Australia qualifying Pole, and now can't win at Imola qualifying 2nd. And he also qualified well at Bahrain, actually he has been very consistent with his performance and having scored a podium already i still think he has a good chance in the championship. But that requires Honda to step up a gear in getting the car and pit stops right! Oh well, i guess now is the time to see what the teams can come up with their B-Spec engines and new aero packages etc.. i hope all teams can have some good improvement to make the season more competitive.
  17. yeh ive been missing out :( really busy schedule lately so hopefully can make a meet soon.. considering going to the drags though.

  19. Welcome to the bestest Corolla forum on the planet :)
  20. :o Didn't know they were TRD rims Bill, awesome looking wheel, how much they weigh??
  21. I've seen 4WDs, Camrys, Magnas, WRXs, Bikes (Yamaha R1 - undercover).. all these were unmarked, and officers looked off duty. They cant pull you over if they off duty!!! Can't they!? I saw one that did! or maybe they were just plain clothed and still on duty..?
  22. Damn it.. i initially had Schuey as my pole choice then thought Fisi with his new B-Spec engine might be a surprise but we will see how quick he really is during the race. And Honda surprised me, they were very low key in the lead up to Imola, trying to sort out their tyre temp issues and i don't think they are running very light either for race day.. as Button says: Button admitted he was surprised to see Fernando Alonso back in fifth and the McLarens on the fourth row: “We’ll have to see how the race pans out, but either they must be stopping very, very late or they made mistakes, I don’t know.” But then again it could be Button trying to get back at Alonso making a comment that Honda seems to be out of contention this year. I picked the Renault boys this race but i hope Honda wins! :D And Toyota looks good too, they have bounced back well with Ralph and Trulli doing pretty well. :)
  23. I just filled up with BP Ultimate today :D Actually i have always used BP Ultimate but then when Vortex98 was more available i used that with 4cents discount and "felt" that it was better than Ultimate but i have now gone back to BP bcus its 2cents cheaper than Vortex98.
