  1. We should all go one day, make it a Sportivo track day and we can organise some prizes for participants.. but its more fun running against our rivals and other cult cars.
  2. At Wakefield today i ran against many cars from V8s to 4 cylinders to turbos rwd and awd and the Stivo held its own on the straight against most of fwd main rivals like Ford Focus ST170 and Clio Sport. Handling wise the Stivo will stand no chance if it was stock suspension setup. With my added suspension bits i was able to keep up with the Clio Sport for a couple of laps but i soon buckled :( The tyres and brakes became jello :( Didn't get a chance to run the Mini Cooper S and Pug Gti180 much today, as i ran low on fuel . A VY SV8 was surprised by the straight line speed of the stivo when he tried to chase me down and said he only barely reeled in on the straight. ANd when corners arrive bye bye! There was also a Toyota Celica SX 2ZZ-GE, WRX and STi (I ran this WRX with exhaust mod for 5-6 laps and i stuck with him except the straight where his torque and awd gave him an edge.) There were heaps more cars around like a Type R DC2 with rollcage and big brakes that ran a 1min13 timed by me. That is the same lap time as a Porsche GT3 out there today. There was also a Mirage cup car that ran 1min12, 1min13. As a comparison, i ran a best of 1min18 (sloppy time but Wakefield is a tough track for the Stivo wheelspinning and understeering too much slowing lap time, plus the Bates only manged to get 1min17 from the Stivo so i am not far off :P ) The Bates got 1min14s for the Clio and Pug Gti180! So you all know at Wakefield its tough to run against our rivals ;) There were also Maseratis, Ferrarris F355, 360, Audi RS4, Lotus Elise, Big V8s etc. Very fun day all up!
  3. Wowee, that's hell of a lot more power at the wheels! Great job with the Unichip, want to baseline? Maybe this SUnday? Too bad you can't come to Wakefield today, alot of cars were present and it would have been fun!
  4. Thanks for the video Qui! It was a good day, a great variety of cars turned up and it was good to see where my Stivo stood among these cars but too bad i couldn't head out for the last session due to low fuel! I had a good shot at a better lap time and then all of a sudden the car seiged when i entered the last corner before the straight. :( Anyway learnt my lesson. I seriously need better tyres, can't outrun the other guys with 195 width street tyres!
  5. I love the look of the new Echo or Vitz or Yaris... The hi-performance version will only be released 2006 and not sure if it will be a Europe only edition. By then i think many other manufacturers would have come up with better cars. Maybe if they make it RWD with LSD? :P Drift Vitz!! I doubt the kerb weight will stay below 1000kg with the new body shell. Although the 2ZZ-GE ain't very heavy but add airbags, upgraded brakes, wheels, interior etc. will probably lift weight well over 1000kg. That is still a cool 100plus kg lighter than the Corolla ;)
  6. Yeah you can help represent Toyota on the day Got the bike for a good price $8500 with a Yoshi and the thing is mint ( couldnt find a scratch/mark/leak anywhere on her) Havent ridden a 600RR Yet but there whouldnt be much between them...top end i think the R6 has more......eg i have trouble keeping the nose down after 11000rpm in 1st, 2nd and 3rd It will rev to 15000rpm :P Ive packed the remote yesterday :D dont want a repeat of last time...ive havent got myself a firewire yet so ill try and put the footage onto a Video for you for now.... Once i get my act together i'll put it onto cd so you can post for the other stivo guys to view ← Thanks man, can't wait and hopefully the weather stays good. 15,000rpm! That's the good thing about 600cc bikes compared to 1000cc, it revs hard! If only our Stivos can rev to that speed with LIFT at 11,000rpm! :P $8500 is a bloody good deal man :o I would have bought that bike first and got my licence later!! My brother in law paid $5000 for a Kawasaki 1991' ZXR750 few years back! It was in great condition too and was very well maintained with pipe. I had a ride as a pillion once and was so close to kissing the tarmac when he squeezed it without warning :D Sounded fantastic with an aftermarket pipe, i can hear him 10 blocks away i think
  7. Yeh the clutch gives me the sh*t sometimes so i push the pedal to the metal pretty hard to make sure but i still crunch the crap out of the gearbox. Now Toyota cannot say i stuffed my gearbox from not using the clutch can they :P Adjusting C can be very tricky, too much play and you can get clutch drag (which is what i have now, hence the jammed shifter), and too little play can result in clutch slip.
  8. Wow that's quite a few Pugs, good to hear a Celica will be coming so i am not the odd one out.. Should be a good day! Is your friend with the Celica on this forum? I think i will meet you all at the track, should still remember how to get there. No i don't have a bike, but i love them! And the only reason why i use the Yamaha R1 as my avatar is obvious, because our 2ZZ-GE engine is tuned by Yamaha B) Great bike you got there, how much did you pay for it? Is the R6 quicker and handles better than the CBR600RR? Oh, would you also be bringing your camera and video cam mate? Remember to bring your remote this time, also if you still have the vid from last time would you be able to burn me copy? Thanks! Zee
  9. I also just noticed the sig change, an R6 is still a beast of a bike and yous got good taste Brionny and Dylan ;) But my favourite is actually the Honda SP1 or CBR600RR, wierd because i much prefer the looks of the newer Yamaha bikes, and their unique chassis but if i've got the cash and a bike licence i might get an R1 and CBR600RR :D
  10. Thanks Ken, anybody else had the clutch adjusted either DIY or by Toyota and knows where abouts they adjusted?
  11. Cool, thanks for that IZZ-FE, and sorry to you and Zeerolla for mixing the two of you up! ←
  12. RADIO, CDs are a waste of money :P
  13. In the latest edition of MOTOR it said Toyota is killing off its current sports car line-up, the mid-engined RWD MR-S, FF Celica and RWD Supra. They are coming out with a V8 Mid-engine RWD sports car priced around the 350Z range to take over the sports car line-up. It looks very alike the MR-S under black cover but Toyota said it is not based on the MR-S or Supra. This is due to poor sales around the globe unfortunately and even the 2ZZ-Ge will go soon i guess since it powers the Celica and our Corolla Sportivo. That could be good for us then as the Corolla Sportivo will be a very limited edition Corolla :D Resale will probably be good!
  14. I was watching the V8s the other day and on Ingall's car it had 98 beside the spnsorship Vortex logo. Then when i went to Caltex Stations they also have 98 beside the Vortex fuel logo. Is it 98 Octane?
  15. I've got the same setup but using Whiteline Control Springs ($320) (lowered 35mm), Strutbrace ($179), Rear swaybar ($190) and front camber bolt ($80). Total cost approx. $770 not incl. labour.
  16. Clutch Pedal 1 Clutch Pedal 2 Guys with the clutch pedal adjusted, can you tell me which part they actually adjusted? From what i know they would have adjusted either A or/and C. I am also looking at B (also the circled area in Pic 2) which determines how far your clutch pedal can be depressed. What do you guys think? Do you know what A and C does, B is non-adjustable.
  17. Hey Qui, how is the car going? Clocked a few more kays now? I will most probably be going, not working that day. My car still ain't 100% with the sh*t clutch but i have lowered it so would be interesting to see how much better it handles. So what cars would be turning up at this stage? Zee
  18. Good to hear that its sorted out and enjoy your Honda!
  19. I am going to try and get the clutch looked at again and have them adjust it further. The first time they did it it didn't work. I am getting vibrations that can be felt through the gear shifter when trying to downshift into 2nd. It only happens in 2nd gear and it is when you have the clutch fully depressed, heeled-toed and trying to engage the shifter into 2nd gear when you can feel the vibration in the gear shifter. Are my 2nd gear synchros showing signs of weakness already? I only have 16,000kms on the clock but this sh*tty clutch made me crunch 2nd on quite a number of occassions so it could be that.. I am now thinking of getting that looked at too. Those guys with the synchros replaced, what were your other symptoms except constant crunching of gears? My gears don't crunch as much ever since i used synthetic lube and additives.
  20. How come it didn't work for me? The techs rang Shane at Nunawayding Toyota for consultation and it still didn't work? One thing is if i bang the limiter i usually have no worries shifting and can land LIFT always. Its when i don't touch the limiter that the shifter gets stuck.
  21. Yeh, the minority without the issues should meet up and be ashamed of yourselves :P :P
  22. Silvabullit, you want to give some advice to this chap with the "Good" Stivo before he gets shot down? No offence afyfe but read what we have covered in other posts regarding our issues before making comments about those people with problems. Zee
  23. Hi, 1) Might b the Air Flow Meter wiring, you will need that. Ask Toyota if in doubt. 2)Shield the pod filter with aluminium or direct some cold air from the front of the car to the pod filter with some 3 inch flexi pipe/hose you can get from hardware stores or auto shops. 3) Many, K&N is the easiest to source and can get them cheap atm with clearance sales. 4) An aftermarket panel filter in the stock airbox will do okay too, and you can redirect piping to suck cool air. Pod filters give a nicer induction note and more air flow that's all. Hope that helps. Maybe someone can post pics? Zee
