  1. Not trying to burst your bubble nor imply you would encounter the same situation, but the exact same thing happened to me with the 04' Stivo after i test drove this "demo" everything was smooth as silk, rushed in and signed above the dotted line. But i never expected my Stivo to be one of the many that has the niggly gear shifting problem.
  2. 126KW@ the wheels! Very nice Craig, i guess the UNICHIP has proved its worth :D Dave from NSW got over 120KW @ wheels and now Craig from Brisbane. Anyone from Vic?
  3. Damn it, should have gone down around 2pm after i woke up :( Missed my chance to stun some V8 Monaros.. Now i just got to make up for it on the streets i guess :P Sorry Dave and Dylan for the very late notice.. picked up a night shift and thought i would be okay since i finish at 7am but i was so buggered after that shift i thought i might drive off the cliff while crusing up Macquarie pass if i went.. Really should have gone though bcos i felt like sh&t after my morning nap.. Anyway.. the next track day shouldn't be too far away since the weather is getting cooler and this time my car will be ready and we will make it 3 Stivos next time. Dave and i have yet to see more than 2 Stivos turn up at Wakefield so next time we better make it happen! :D btw any pics? Zee
  4. Congrats man! Awesome, now we have two 14s Stivos to brag about :D
  5. Great vid Craig, the Stivo looks quick especially the response pre-lift.. i'm surprised by how quick it took off from the line. I once saw an Acura RSX-S at drags in the US and it was slow as hell to take off from the line but once it hit hi-cam it went on to beat a 350Z with a mid 13s pass. That car was worked with bigger cams and stuff which might explain the sluggish low rev performance. I reckon on your 2nd run you would have beat the times in your first run but no proof so no bragging rights just yet :P
  6. It is a high possibility with the new rule.. Toyota is doing very well with the 05 car and they have good drivers. Renault has fast cars and i really like their drivers, they go for broke every time they race which makes it very entertaining to watch, and they are fast. Very dissapointed with Ferrari and BARHonda this year, thought they would be the 2 teams fighting out with Renault like last year. BARHonda seemed to have taken a step back and Ferrari is still a little mysterious to me.. but i think reliability is definitely an issue for the manufacturers this year. Will be an interesting season.
  7. Cool!! Is it a stocker gts-t? I will try to see if i can at least get fresh fluids into the car tomorrow morning.. a little paranoid about turning up at the track without fresh fluids.. the tyres are going for sure and the shock absorbers will make way soon (watch out for me in the corners, might go cross country a bit more!). And of course the way overdue clutch and flywheel WILL get done during my next service.
  8. Absolutely agree on this one, that is one awesome machine... :D ← Just realised its Rwd.. :P
  9. Should be able to meet u guys there between 8-8.30am. Hope the weather holds up though.. and my car ain't prepped for the track yet so might be taking it a little easy this time round. Haven't got time to take the car in for service so i have old engine oil, old transmission oil, old brake fluid and half worn tyres. Plus i think my shock absorbers have had it, making a lot of noises recently. :( Hmm..
  10. A few people with Stivos have the TRD clutch and pressure plate plus TRD or TOM's flywheel and they all say the shifting feel/quality improved. But how serious their gear shifting problem was prior to getting the clutch and flywheel installed is unknown and very subjective. I personally am getting Exedy clutch and TOM's flywheel fitted. Don't know if that will solve the problem hence i am waiting till my clutch drops before proceeding. Zee
  11. Link to download clip of Pulsar VZR N1 revving 175ps @ 7800rpm, peak torque @ 7200rpm. This is version 1, not race prepped like version 2. Thinking of it now the engines nowadays aren't producing the amount of power we are used to seeing in these old pocket rockets like the EK Civic Type R, Pulsar VZR N1, Mirage Cyborg R all producing around 180-200bhp with only 1600cc. I think engine manufacturers now are restricted in a sense and are focussing more on cleaner emissions hence the less peaky engines and having to increase engine capacity to make up for it with more torque.
  12. Did yous see the latest comparo in Wheels between the Clio Sport 182, Mini Cooper S and Integra TypeS. The TypeS came 3rd and the Clio came 1st. I would still go TypeS cos when it comes to FWD sports Honda is still on the ball with the Integra and its bigger and i believe has better reliability and quality. But a new Nissan sports hatch would be great! I still remember the JDM limited edition 2 door N15 Pulsar VZR-N1 version 2 with NEO VVL engine producing 200bhp (8500rpm redline) from only 1.6litre which left the EK 185bhp Civic Type R for dead. It was an unfair comparo though since the VZR-N1 was race prepped with closer gearing and everything and it costs more than the Civic TypeR. With that cash they ran a Spoon tuned Civic Type R and won back the "King of 1.6litre" title and also a Civic Type R with B18C :D Best Motoring Race Civic Type R vs Pulsar VZR-N1
  13. I know a guy that also drives a TypeR before and swapped it for a WRX. He worked for a Honda dealership in Wollongong, maybe its the same guy? I nearly bought his TypeR but bcos it was modded and i wanted a new car. You should be able to land LIFT with very quick shifting, provided your shifter is okay and not stuck in gear for a split second like some of our Stivos do. My trick is always the same, brush the rev-limiter and it usually frees up the shifter and i can land LIFT 9 out of 10 times, every gear. I am certain this problem is not gearbox related, its most likely clutch and flywheel related. A problem called clutch drag also exibits this symptom - "Reluctant gear shifter". I think Toyota either used different clutch facing material or flywheel in the Stivos hence this problem. But a good thing is my clutch is still pretty good even after the abuse it has been given for the past 25,000kms.
  14. Depends bcos there are so many great cars but i go for the lighter cars. Stock FR - M3 CSL / M3 GTR Tuned FR - Amuse S2000 R1 /Opera Performance S2000 / HKS Genki S15 Silvia / Mazda BP Falken RX7 etc... Stock FF - Civic TypeR (EP series) Tuned FF - DC5 Integra TypeR Stock MR - NSX-R Tuned MR - Castrol Mugen NSX.. Stock 4WD - STI Spec C / Tommy Kaira ZZ2 Tuned 4WD - Amuse Carbon R GTR (Check out that Titanium exhaust!!)
  15. I actually thought the filter would pick it up... it was a bit of a joke really, I'll edit accordingly, but good point Zee... ← I was kidding too mate.. with all the stuff on tv nowadays i don't think we have to worry about the kids :P What do parents think?
  16. Its a Thursday so there shouldn't be too much people.. maybe we can get some people from the froggy forums to join us.. How about those from circuit club, anyone interested? As for myself, i will try to take the day off. My roster has yet to be released so can't confirm :(
  17. Hehe.. as you can see Dylan i didn't get to watch the race but i am a bit of a Honda nut so i just presumed they loss because of their crap strategy :P But i think they have gone backwards in F1 this year.. however like you said its still anyone's game. Williams, Toyota and Renault definitely looks like they got the goods.
  18. Yeh, great effort! I am very disappointed by BAR Honda's performance though :( I blame their strategy, not their cars.. Still, 3 cheers for Toyota!! :D
  19. Any updates from you, Blue_Stivo or ZEEROLLA?? :P ← Not yet mate, i'm still waiting for a Service Manager to contact me.. its been a while and i might not wait. I'm also thinking of getting a new clutch and TOM's flywheel fitted soon bcos i can't be bothered lobbying around with Toyota anymore, plus i've already got a TOM's flywheel lying around. Anyway if anything comes up soon i will probably still consider letting Toyota have another look. Will kep this thread updated. Zee
  20. Thanks Dylan, i'm working 6am Monday morning!!! Might have to tape the thing.. :(
