  1. You can also check here for more info on Whiteline products and send enquiries (strictly no discussion on pricing) Suspension parts info Just need to double check to make sure the part numbers are correct and u don't have to get everything. I have Whiteline front strutbar, rear swaybar 22mm (measured it and stock is 20mm but heavier), control springs that lower 40mm and retained stock shocks and front swaybar. It improved chassis stiffness and turn-in but body roll still can be reduced. Don't go expecting go-kart handling, probably need coil-overs for that or Yellow adjustable Konis dialled up to Max. Whiteline doesn't recommend that for street cars and hence makes their springs as soft as possible so as to retain street comfort and balance with the rest of the suspension components. Can also get polyurethane bushes to complement the whole package. You can also try the TRD suspension brace, made with steel but will add on weight to the car though. Cheers, Zee
  2. it's also worthwhile thinking of RE-SALE VALUE!!! MX-5 has much better resale value, have you thought about the MX-6, a great shape and hard-top for better security, plus very stable on the track??? ← Yeh i saw a 1990 MX5 with 150,000kms going for $12,000!!! Rather spend that on Silvias with half that amount of kms. I also thought MX6s are FWD? The more i look at it now the more i am leaning towards Silvias because they fit into my budget and i get plenty to pick from. Heavily modded ones are actually cheaper than stock ones.. i saw a Rigolly full modded S14 with 600hp garret Turbo and all the works going for around $20K. The mods itself are probably worth close to that.
  3. The MR2s are nice but are mid-engined arn't they so can get a bit nervous i think.. i always have nightmares of the MR2 spining out of control at 200pluskm/h at Bathurst :( I would prefer a front engined rwd, easier to control at the limit.. The only MR car i wouldn't mind drining is the NSX :P MX5s are good imo bcos they are really well balanced car and have many tune up parts available (eg. the turbo kits from AVO). But for the same money i can get S13/S14 Silvias with SR20DET engine which i think is a far better engine than the MX5's 1.8 but then again an MX5 will probably be better taken care of than the Silvias..
  4. Sorry to infiltrate this topic but since everyone here is talking about cars they have driven and the best cars, can they share some light on my other topic "Which RWD cars they would recommend i get for some fun on the track". Has to be very affordable, reliable and modifiable. My preference with Jap cars and i am very swayed towards Silvias/180sx. Please post in my topic and not in this one please! Cheers, Z
  5. Yeh, the doctor advised me to go on a light diet :P .. but all nice cars pointed out.. i think with Toyotas i am really keen on either an AE86 (initial D influence), or Supra. Nissans will have to be S13/S14 Silvias or 180sx.. Then an MX5 as they are pretty well balanced.. will be taking my time on this one while do more research on parts and mods etc..
  6. Fastest was a modded twin turbo Supra, and i used to drive a MY97rex with some bolt-ons and that was ok.. other than that nothing feels quicker than a bike!
  7. V8s and Supras are too heavy though.. i would rather get a 180/200sx to play with although most of them do get a thrashing but hey that's what they are made for and it wouldn't be too hard or expensive to find replacement parts for the car. I am even considering purchasing an auto and do a manual conversion. There is a 96' S14 going for $12grand automatic, non modified! Bloody good value and a manual coversion won't cost more than 2grand incl. the gearbox, might even get a spare engine or full front cut with the gearbox. If lucky i can even get the 6 speed from S15. If not for cheaper options and lower kms i have to go grey with a 180sx or S13. I just want one to thrash around a bit on the track and something light and nimble and easy to fix. RX7s are great cars but the rotary engine's not known for reliability and there are fewer of them around compared to Silvias. SR20DETs are more reliable i think but as with all turbo cars, oil temp rises quickly and got to look out for old turbos.. they leak. Boost controllers are also a definite NO NO! Hmm.. any other cars or recommendations guys? Maybe an AE86 or MX5??
  8. Hey guys, just wondering which car would you get as your first RWD car.. to get to know what RWD is all about n stuff.. I was thinking Nissan's 200SX is the best option since its cheap, and many 2nd hand ones around. I have been thinking of maybe selling up the Stivo one day and getting a stock S14 200sx for around $15grand and playing with it for a while. What other RWDs would yous recommend for around $15grand? Can't get the Supra for that money, and its too heavy.. I want something rather light and nimble and not a grey import.
  9. Hmm, sounds like a convincing argument but Shuey's pace in the last 10-20 laps was just unbelievable, lapping 2-3secs quicker than everyone else and catching Button then Alonso was incredible... i couldn't believe my eyes after i came back from a brief toilet break! But they also had great strategy and Schuey's pit-stop allowed him to leap frog 10 cars! Maybe the 2 of yous just work for Ferrari :P Anyhow 2 race ban for BAR Honda is a bummer but whoever breaks the rules should get penalised. Well, will be cheering for Toyota tomorrow then! They seem really confident and wouldn't it be great to see them get on the podium. Go Toyota!!
  10. This topic has also been covered before in GREEEEEAAAAAAT Length. The 03, 04 models also have same problem, to do with the clutch. I still have the stock clutch hence the same problem as i started with when i purchased the car last Feb. I have clocked 25,000kms now and it seems to be getting slightly better. The "sticking" of gearshift is not my main concern although it is when i try to drag someone but its the crunching of gears that got me oh so worried. On occassions with clutch fully depressed and shifting normally the gear box crunches and refuses to go into gear. I am just worried the cog teeth will break which means a gearbox overhaul - weeks without the car. So to whoever said Toyota did a gearbox overhaul report them to their Manager. I had a MY97 WRX gearbox o'hauled before when i broke 2nd gear. Took 3 weeks and set me back $1500. I have to point out though that the car was never abused, had over 130,000kms on the gearbox and it produces over 200kw @ flywheel. I did do a dozen or more 5500rpm launches when racing people, and i don't classify that as abuse :P Z
  11. BP Ultimate for me. Not worth the 4cent supermarket saving, i did my own calculations, i just buy less at the supermarket and i end up saving the same :D Z
  12. I don't think its a problem mate, you will know when you have engine trouble... Does it still go in LIFT? :D Z
  13. I got the TRD CAI for its look and sound and also didn't want to go backwards with power.. Want BIG Diff get the supercharger :D
  14. Renault's Fernando Alonso commented openly that Ferrari is the only team that has been "secretly" doing much more testing than other F1 Teams even though there are strict restrictions on the amount of testing they are allowed to do. He also commented that everyone knows about it and its a disgrace and against the spirit of the sport. That explains why they are so dominant. Always knew there was something fishy about Ferrari and Schuey cockiness, how they always have far quicker cars than the other teams.. Cannot believe there is beaucratic crap in F1 too!? And poor BAR Honda have been banned for 2 races and lose their 10points after their great result at San Marino even when FIA have no significant evidence against them. BAR team handed 2 race ban "BAR Honda is appaled by the decision of the FIA International Court of Appeal and asserts that the judgement is contrary to all of the evidence heard yesterday. The team proved that it complied with current regualtions and the FIA now acknowledges that the regulations are unclear. We repeat that at no time did BAR Honda run underweight at the San Marino Grand Prix and this was also unchallenged by the FIA. While the International court of appeal rejected the FIA's original accussations of fraud and deception, BAR Honda says that this penalty is wholly and grossly disproportionate. The team is advised by its legal council that the judgement is plainly wrong based on the evidence presented and it is currently examining its options." I personally feel that some stakeholders are trying to minimise competition for Ferrari and BAR Honda has been made the first scapegoat. My scenical 2cents worth :D BAR abandon hope of racing Far out, my favourite team is now out for 2 or more races!! That is it for BAR Honda's season hopes. This is horse *****, i think i will give F1 a rest this year.. very disappointed and angry with the decisions. WHY DON"T THEY BLOODY INVESTIGATE FERRARI FOR HAVING A CAR THAT LAPPED 3 SECOND A LAP QUICKER AT SAN MARINO WHILE ALL OTHER TEAMS LAPPED TIMES MUCH CLOSER TO EACH OTHER??? Anyway that is just my opinion since i am a BAR Honda fan :P I will react the same if Toyota gets penalised! Good news is Mark Webber has now been moved into the points after Jenson Button and Takuma Sato have been removed.
  15. I also think the steering feel has become more realistic.. countersteering can be real tricky in GT4 its very easy to get wrong.
  16. Sure man i would probably organise one in the coming months when it is freezing cold.. :)
  17. Looks bloody awesome on the street/track, very mean and alien.. a much cheaper alternative to a Ferrari 360 Modena or Porsche GT3 if you are after that Supercar look.. lets not compare whats under the bonnets..
  18. Don't think Toyota will cover it under warranty will they, maybe Lotus will :P Toyota might even be using this ECU as a TRD unit..
  19. Hehehe.. the only car i have tried launching with more than 5000rpm on the dial is a WRX. But launching in LIFT sounds real tempting :P
  20. 176kw and 320nm in the Astra will be nice but not in a FWD :( .. even if it has a really good LSD and traction control, the turbo doesn't do it any favours except burn those precious 18/19inch rubber.. Same with Stivo, its already struggling with 180nm of torque on the track coming out of tight bends, the Supercharger will only make the wheels spin up more? I'm having nightmares already..
  21. Gear ratios are probably different too? But i'm up for the ECU if there is one for sale :D
  22. Also the different track surfaces make for a difference too but i agree atmospheric pressure plays a BIG role in the car's performance, u can always feel it. but always remember guys highly strung NA cars like ours and VTEC engines are always going to be harder to extract power and torque from bolt-on mods (some go backwards mind yous :o ). We get improvements but it is very limited compared to turbocharged cars.. So we shouldn't be expecting too much.. I reckon with Craig and Dave's times its already a good improvement and on the track i'm sure it equates to a second or more quicker lap times. To really get CONSISTENT low 14s and under i think its bigger cams, better tyres, weight reduction etc like what most Honda B16A and B18C equipped cars do. So i guess in Poland the 1/4mile is just a fraction shorter than ours here :P Zee
  23. What cars will be there? Time and which maccas in livo cos i think there is more than 1?
  24. Right on Craig, there were heartaches for sure.. and thanks to all the guys that fought hard with TMC to get this thing "resolved", it has also left some of us with a lighter wallet.. :D
