  1. I'm in! Its will be the first and last time i am getting the car dynoed :) Just crossing my fingers i don't get shabby results or something unexpectedly low! Judging from the CES dyno day anything can happen
  2. TRD knob which came with trd Short Shifter, very light ← So what does that say about the TRD quickshifter? Its supposed to be quicker right but with a lighter gear knob?
  3. Isn't this the same vid as the one in the track day post?
  4. I was going to say Wakefield Park had nothing except tyre barriers and concrete walls :P Plus it has a lower top speed of about 160km/h for the Stivo, a little more if you are daring or have 6 pot brake calipers
  5. There were trees?? Didn't notice in the vid clip but they should do somethng about it, its too dangerous at those speeds to have trees near that corner. They should chop those trees down or redesign the track or something.. scary stuff :o
  6. Thought of the Racer too but they are not on sale and black on black is not really my cup of tea ;) I think cicuit is alright, tarmac is too much alike the Stivo rim and only in 17inch.
  7. Whats wrong with pulling the handbrake I would think its to prevent the car from sliding down further into the fishpond? :D But MAP81 did you even try to catch te oversteer? Just curious or you just let it go?
  8. As far as i know, Craig's car had around 105kw (+- few kw) atw stock. After he had his Unichip fitted he had abt 120kw atw with CAI, TRD headers and CES exhaust. That is quite a good gain from such a a highly strung NA engine. The 115kw at CES could be down to too many things. A closer comparo would be every Stivo using the same fuel, same engine oil, same wheels and tyres and tyre pressure, dynoed at the same time/day etc etc. A car's performance changes daily don't yous realise so it can be more powerful one day and less the other. There were also a few stock stivos there and they put out between 103kw to 118 kw atw. That is a great margin and you will wonder how/why, and its anybody's guess. Also these figures are PEAK power figures, it says nothing about part throttle power figure, or torque or power and torque at 2k, 3k, 4k, 5k, 6k revs. Performance has to be measured on the road. The 180SX that only made 88kw might still be quicker to 100km/h than a 118kw stock Stivo, who knows? Chassis dynos are best left to measure gains from modifications. I think the Unichip is good but not great for producing power. You will have less driveability issues like cold starts and stuff hence its so popular. The greatest will have to be a full replacement ECU like the APEXi POWER FC or HKS F-CONV. But if you really want bang for buck gains, go turbo or supercharge the car or get some higher compression pistons, bigger cams or something like that. Bolt-ons are fine but don't expect too much, especially highly tuned NA engines like the 2ZZ-GE ;) Better to focus on suspension or ricing it up :P p.s. dyno days are great, it brings people together and everyone can have a good time not to mention bragging rights! Plus CES exhausts are great sounding good quality items that can improve performance so buy them! :D Z
  9. Suggestions of a good reputable dyno place in Sydney/Illawarra? It'll definitely help with the workshop's publicity by getting a dozen Stivos to rock up! I might check out this place called Southern Motor Works to see if he's interested and have a look at his dyno. The owner of that place drives a Lotus Exige so should be fun having his 2ZZ-GE Lotus running on the dyno too for comparison :D What abt Sydney? I'm sure there's plenty of big workshops there! MRT performance? Croydon Autosports? Too bad CES hasn't got a mobile dyno :P Z
  10. That's the 2.0L mazda tho.. the 2.3 has a different valve system as far as i know. Nothing compares to the VTEC or BMW's system tho... By the way, what does the Sportivo rev up to? And does the normal corolla have this system? I looked at the sportivo but couldn't understand where the power goes when stepped on.. i read it has 141kw or close to 200hp and yet is still in the 8 second bracket for 0-100km/h according to magazines.. :| Is it the gear ratio that's done for high speed / fuel economy or something? ← Hi there, next time at the track have a ride in the Sportivo as a passenger and you will know whats under the Sportivo's bonnet. That's what we Sydney people did when we were at Wakefield Park Goulburn NSW, i sat in a PugGti180 for 10 hot laps and the owner of the Pug sat in Dave's (aka Screaminrolla) Stivo while filming footage of me and Dave. I was chasing Dave's Stivo down in my stock 4x4 ride height Stivo :D . The Sportivo's vvtl-i is different to the vvti system in other corollas. Notice we have an "L" which is the LIFT we talk about. Its got 1800cc peak power of 141kw at 7800rpm. Peak torque of 180nm at 6800rpm. It feels like a DOHC VTEC in B16A Civic Vti-R and B18C engined DC2 TypeR when you rev it past 6000rpm there is a very strong surge in power plus a loud induction roar. Rev cuts at 8200rpm. 0-100km/h in 8 secs is understated, most people here can do it in the 7sec bracket easy and 1/4 mile in mid to low 15s with timeslips to prove ;) Z
  11. Any gains by doing that? Except from the racecar noise :D
  12. Your Stivo will still get you pass speed limit pretty quick Dave
  13. Had to watch F1 last night after i found out BAR was on pole but what a disappointment it was.. anyway good to hear you guys had fun cruising! Did Dave go in the Stivo or the boosted Celica? ← So did I, I grabbed 4 hours before, caught the end of the 250s and all the 125 race then stayed on for the F1 (best race all season for drama, leading the race was a Jinx) and slept at 5ish and up and 9:15 and at Homebush at 11:05 ...so what's your real excuse Zee :P ← My alarm clock didn't work till 12pm :P
  14. Had to watch F1 last night after i found out BAR was on pole but what a disappointment it was.. anyway good to hear you guys had fun cruising! Did Dave go in the Stivo or the boosted Celica?
  15. i'll be up all night downloasing these vids!! Broadband finally coming but have to put up with dialup in the meantime! Comeon Sydney people we should also organise something similar.. maybe the next ToyMods dyno day?
  16. OOpss, posted in wrong topic :P But Shao your car is LOUD!!
  17. Noticed with the RunX in GT4 if you fit the supercharger you will lose up to 60hp if you also have the free flowing racing exhaust!!! If you get the semi-racing exhaust you will gain 60hp!! Something to think about? I always thought force induction goes well with the fee-est flowing exhaust systems. Also when going with NA tuning the racing exhaust only picks up another 3 hp over the semi-racing exhaust system. That goes to show highly tuned NA cars don't benefit too greatly from exhaust mods, but a little here and there adds up i suppose.
  18. Plus its sooo hard to get them P1s now.. i tried :( ← so did i....so did i :( but u CAN still get em ....just gotta wait bout 6 to 8 weeks for em ← Where u getting them, i checked with CRed and they are expensive plus not sure when i will recieve it.
  19. But white is a real pain to clean. I am going Bronze for my Black, probably look ok on silver too?
  20. Buddy Clubs will be very hard to get now. Check the whels and tyres section, this has been mentioned in a post there. But Silver will go well with white, black or gunmetal/titanium/grey/shadow.
  21. Is the TRD gear knob lighter or heavier, anyone knows?
  22. I may or may not turn up depending on how late the Canadian F1 race ends or how interesting the first corner is (If BAR and Toyota both crashes out i'll have an early night :P ). But i'll like to drive to Palms Beach as i have never been there, was told its a beautiful place.
  23. Is that due to the additive Shell puts in their Optimax? Which fuel here actually has NO additives. Does Vortex 98 have octane boosting additives? I know BP's Ultimate hasn't as i was told and they guarantee their fuel quality :P . I find the wagon runs best on Ultimate, uses less fuel and just feels a bit smoother, but fuel prices often dictate standard ULP. My father had a problem with pinging in his Mazda6 at around 27,000kms, having used Optimax exclusively. Mazda told him that Optimax is "a dirty fuel" and his pinging due to excessive carbon build-up. They did a carbo-clean on it and told him to use Ultimate in future, which he has done and he's very happy with it. ← i noticed that on my last car. it used to run exclusively on optimax and the exhaust tip would be covered in soot every week. then i swapped to ultimate and i only got a couple of spots now and again. ←
