  1. You could also look at the C-ONE shortened gear-ratios while you're at it too :D When in Rome... ← Any idea Dylan what the gear ratio's will be once the C-One is installed ? i could go and find it myself but maybe u know off the top of ur head ;) ;) ← Sorry Bill, no idea, I stole the idea from Zee anyway ;) :P ← :o :P :D
  2. whats the phanton ???? ← Isn't the "phantom" Shao's Stivo? Or what is it?
  3. ahhhh, welcome to the world of low profiles, stiff springs and lighter wheels :D :P
  4. Any lap times and how did the Clio Sports go up against the Hondas?
  5. I wonder why they didn't do 1st to 3rd instead.
  6. Hi Pirate, follow the manufacturer's recommendation and check your manual. I think yours would be closer to 75W85 or 75W90. Castrol makes gearbox oil in that viscosity full synthetic, or redline. Serch redline in this forum and you will find where you can get them (from their website). Z
  7. Was comparing betwen Dave's chart and Dylan's and you can see where Dave's car excels, it has much more power right through the rev range and a steeper curve plus the Unichip's control over the AFR is also very interesting compared to the stock Toyota ECU which looks to be all over the place. Also something interesting i noted was although i had a lower Max Power figure, my chart with the TRD CAI showed that the engine made slightly more power at 80km/h, 100km/h and noticeably 140km/h. The chart also showed that with the TRD CAI the torque hole disappeared whereas in Dylan's chart it is noticeable that there is a "dead zone" at the LIFT changeover point. Don't know if this makes any sense or if the chart can be looked at it this way.. ;)
  8. don't tell 'em my secrets Zee... And yes before there are any flamers, this was 100% Caltex Vortex 98 pump fuel, absolutely no Octane boosters. I believe my result is a direct result of the way I drive the car, the roads I take (I can be selective towards mountains and hills as I don't drive every day). I had commented to a few member in the last few months how much better the car felt since going to Caltex from BP but they chose to ignore me... Oh well... :P Ultimate is now 2nd best I believe. Vortex also has an injector cleaner additive in it which would have helped and the reason why the car felt progressively better over 3 tanks (filling from 1/4 full) as well as diluting out the evil BP poision. :P ← Oh and i forgot to add a very important point! :o Dylan and Luke mentioned this :P and that is the "Mine's" sticker on my bonnet made me lose 3-5kw atw since they don't tune Toyotas :P :P :P Time for a C-One or TRD sticker, that should give me 118-120kw atw next time
  9. Love your car Mike! and your HKS BOV
  10. 115kw stock and 113kw & 114.1 kw for TRD CAI modded Stivos! :o "Justin looks stunned!" :P Come up with your own conclusions guys but here is my own biased interpretation: 1)Dylan used Vortex 98 for the past 2months while the other two used BP Ultimate :P 2)I also turned my car off after my pre-dyno warmup run whereas everyone else left theirs running, now that's worth 20kw.. 3)AND i used stock tyre pressures Just stating my arguments :P
  11. I suggest we ban the "freak stock dyno club members" from participating in future dyno days :P :P
  12. Hey there Mike! Its Zee :D Love your car man and welcome back to the forum! For anyone interested on my input regarding the dyno day click here: ToyMods Dyno Day 11 It was a blast and so much fun! Will definitely go back for the next one!
  13. Wow, what a day! :D I am sooo buggered.. where should i start, ok maybe with the Stivos. It was a controversial day yet again :P when it comes to dyno figures especially when Dylan's 03' Stivo produced 115kw stock! Now 2 other 04' Stivos with TRD CAI produced 113kw and 114.1kw respectively, and Dave's 03' Stivo needless to say remains unchallenged with his Unichip tuned, CES exhaust and TRD CAI modded Stivo producing 128kw!! These dyno runs were all performed on a DynoDynamics Dynanometer in shootout mode using 4th gear. 2 runs were performed consecutively and the best run was chosen. So its all up to yous to interpret the results but i had fun and knowing the 2ZZGE Stivo produces such good results stock or close to stock is very satisfying :D Other cars in our class include a stock standard 99' model 2ZZGE Celica ZR that ran a 103kw, a Toyota Sprinter with a modded 4AGE that pulled 122kw which was an eye opener for me and came close to rivaling Dave's Stivo in the 1800cc and under N/A class. There were also plenty of turbocharged cars from a 317kw atw Supra to a few Cressidas producing over 200kw atw! The 1JZ is sure a very popular motor B) There was a late 80s early 90s Corolla with rego "FLYNSX" that produced over 160kw atw! Turbo'd with HUGE intercooler of course but what a car! There were also MR2s, a Bathurst edition N/A 3S-GE MR2 produced 102kw atw and a Jap import MR2 GT turbo 3S-GTE produced 138kw atw (Mike's MR2). There was also a RAV 4 with an untuned 3SGTE motor producing 140kw at all 4 wheels! It was a great day and will definitely be there for the next one! Cheers to everyone and ToyMods for making it such a fun day! :D Z
  14. By 8.30am, poor Dylan and myslef have to drive up from the gong.. :(
  15. EVO EVO EVO!!!! Too many skylines around although the GTR is a beast. The EVO6 can be modded to be quicker than a Skyline and is much more nimble on the track, plus a lot of people will think you have a EVO wannabe Lancer which isn't always a bad thing :P What Eddy said is true, maybe you can look at WRX/ STIs/ and the EVO9 (didn't know its coming :o !)
  16. See you there Dave! B) btw can Justin (evl_50a) put his cousin's Holden on the dyno tomorrow or is it just strictly for Toyotas?
  17. Don't worry Justin, we will keep the results to ourselves :P
  18. I still don't know about the 50psi in my tyres though since its new and i don't want to breach the manufacturer's safety warning of no more than 40psi :( Can i just dyno it with my stock tyre pressure or max of 40psi?
  19. Forgot to add driving technique too.. did you bounce on the limiter for more than 0.5sec each gear? :P
  20. Evl_50a: Not a problem see you there! So Dave and Dylan, we all meeting at Campbelltown? Maccas? Anymore Corollas or Stivos coming? Only 2 days away! :D Watch me get 130kw!!! At the fly! :P
  21. I got it installed at my local Toyota Dealer and they had to replace a few parts that they said often get broken when installing the LSD. They then replaced the parts under warranty.... Long job, pulling apart the transmission, etc I love my toyota dealer! ← They probably included the cost of the broken parts in your quote :P
  22. 1) 15inch wheels will always make the car slightly quicker than one equipped with 17inch wheels in a straight line. 2) What engine oil and petrol are you using? 3) How old is your car? His car could be in a "better" condition (eg. clutch, gearbox, engine, tyres). 4) He might not be telling you the truth about the car being "bone stock" 5) NA cars are hard to yield results from simple bolt-on modifications. I got the TRD CAI for the sound and better throttle response but straight line speed i don't know ;) Z
  23. The Evo VI TM is the real deal Still the benchmark for raw blistering road and track speed... B) Lots of car reviewers regard it as the quintesential Evo All the Evos after it have put on weight and lost the race track harshness, no compromises balls out driving experience that the Evo VI is They'll keep their value as long as their looked after just make sure the car hasent been raced in motokhana, rallies etc as a lot of them where kitted up with a cage and rodgered senseless by weekend warriors...like me i wish :P ← If you planning to mod the car then the EVO8 is a better car with a better turbocharger and more efficient intercooler. The brakes and suspension are also better in the EVO8. The engine is also more durable and produces more torque. Quality is also improved over the EVO6, PLUS its got a 6 SPEED GEARBOX!! Highway and city driving will be more comfortable. Now that is worth every penny ;) But you get penalised with weight, i think it weighs in at 1400+kg. If you are going stock or mildly modded, the EVO6 TM edition is the fastest road car you can get weighing in at 1280kg and has the full 206kw of power instead of the EVO8's 195kw. Plus its very rare, only 100 ever made it to dealerships here. EVO6 GSR is also rare but weigh in at 1360kg so might not be as quick. The turbocharger is also different to the TM edition EVO6 which is a big factor. Try to get a better deal for the EVO6 GSR if you really want the EVO6 over the EVO8, if not try walking off the deal B) . Otherwise i think it would be better to get the BRAND NEW EVO8. No worries, no hassles plus 3 year warranty cover, and all the plusses mentioned above which the EVO8 has over the EVO6. Otherwise get an STI ;) Z
