  1. Plus women and there were quite a few autos. In the US Celica owners have experienced similar issues. Put a better clutch in and half the problem will be solved but the 6 speed as mentioned before is just not the smoothest or slickest around but 6 gears will always be better than 5 imho :D It feels great around town and at half pace, but put it through full race pace and it can sometimes feel real baulky, mis-shifts crop up when you rush it (which i have done a lot :( - obviously its all the driver's fault :P ) but at half pace it feels great, the shifter is pretty stiff and doesn't move around much like some other manufacturers.
  2. Hi Zav, I paid $450 and got it from TRDsales.com (Bruce) :)
  3. Hi Darren, the issues occur in some Stivos and absent in the others and i will be honest with you about the gearbox, it isn't the smoothest/slickest shifting out of Japan. If you have driven a Honda you will know why i said that and for highly strung fwd cars like the Stivo, TypeR etc you need super-smooth/quick shifting to stay in the power-band (in the Stivo the gear ratios in 1st/2nd/3rd could also be closer), but compared to Nissans and Mazdas this 6 speed box is not bad. Renault's Clio Sport has good go and grunt for a little car that weighs 150kg less than the Stivo. The Pug Gti180 also goes good down the straight and whips the stock Stivo around the bends but i would recommend the Clio over the Gti180 (personal preference) as it handles as well as the Gti180 if not better and has more grunt (some say its the TypeR killer!). But the Stivo is good for its price, space, comfort and Jap quality, not to mention its banzai engine te french cars lack and if you like to rev (which was what i was after), this car will suit you perfect B) Mazda's SP23 is ok for looks but driving is more comfortable than thrilling. It is a great day to day runabout, not something i would classify under the "sports/hi-performance" category. My few cents worth.. :D oh btw i paid close to 33K for my car so don't feel bad if you are paying 31-32K.. i got over 2grand worth of extras with the car though.. Z
  4. Same here, nothing against the Indians as i have a few Indian friends but this cracked me up
  5. Bring it on :P :P :P :P :P More than happy to have a crack at one ;) ;) ;) ← Don't think you can rent one of those but i'll check my mate's garage to see if he has one handy :P :P :P
  6. Sure Dylan, i will also most probably be having a sedate track day if there's such a thing :P Hoping to see a few Hondas or Clio Sports there but since its a Thursday i won't bet oon it ;)
  7. TRD CAI rocks hey! All my mates say they can hear the 2ZZGE's scream even with their windows up and their cars at full throttle! :D
  8. Yep that Maccas is a good spot to meetup. What about Dylan, Influx and Heatseca? Anyone else coming along?
  9. Its only got 132kw and 235Nm torque from its 1800cc Turbo with the new Tiptronic 6 speed box. Apparently this new tranny cannot handle the 165kw and 280NM output But this car still feels real punchy from 3000rpm to 6000rpm and its super-smooth. The $95,000 3.2 Quattro will have a 3200cc V6 and AWD with 184kw and 320NM with DSG transmission and launch control and will sprint from 0-100 in 6.6secs :o I think a standing start with the base model TT will be close but the Stivo will still prevail by the time it hits 4th gear Maybe the manual coupe version TT that is quicker (0-100km/h in 8.4 auto, 7.8 manual) and is $10,000 cheaper than the Roadster will prove to be a tougher challenge for the Stivo.
  10. Its a base model TT with FWD 1800cc Turbo, 132kw and 235NM, 6speed Tiptronic and only has 6000kms on it and a 3 month old car. I had a 30min drive with the top down :D and it had a lot of go in the midrange and felt more like a super smooth V6 than a Turbo and handled beautifully over the bumps and little potholes but the steering is much heavier than the Stivos and feels "numb" with not much feedback but i wasn't pushing it through corners that hard, especially when it was drizzling. The car felt so comfortable and the quality and layout was definitely Audi. Now to the comparison B) *STIVO VS AUDI TT* Audi quotes 8.5sec 0-100km/h for this roadster TT. -We tested rollin start with the TT behind my Stivo and i was 3 cars ahead by 4th gear. -In-gear acceleration from 100km/h, reeling the TT in slowly with 3rd gear and by 4th i was ahead convincingly. My mates still cannot believe how good the Stivo is but i will take $80,000 TT anyday if i was offered the opportunity to swap :P Its beautiful inside and out and such a great car to drive! :D

  13. My mom will KILLLLLLLLL me if she saw me do that! :P :D But the Ferrari! Come on everyone's got to have a go at that!! :D
  14. Toyota mechs reckon its one of the strongest gearboxes in the world but definitely not the smoothest shifting.. the reverse in that position feels ok imo.
  15. I am sure a lot of 03 and 04 Stivo owners will be real interested with your result! :D We shall all cheer you on.. and your target is 14.8!
  16. Funny stuff :D But my English is no better sometimes :P

  18. Hey Z, do u know something we dont as the apexi would probably work on our stivo but there to date has not been 100% proof that it will wire in unless of course u have found a way to wire it in successfully and havent shared with the rest of us :P :P :P :P :P ← :P :P :P
  19. So who wants to meetup somewhere before we head down to Wakefield? Lets say the Maccas on the Hume at 8am? We can have a cuppa before we go. btw, can someone post a very late but friendly invite with the ozhonda boys? i can't seem to post anything there..
  20. Can Captain Upsidedown give us a discount if more Stivos go? I will most probably go Dave, say we meet somewhere and head down together? Dylan you going? Any other Sportivos in the Sydney area want to join in?

yeh like me! about to join the "ELITE" i'm posting like crazy right now :P
  22. You won't need the clutch and flywheel to maximize the full potential of your mods. The stock clutch and flywheel is capable unless you have a few kms on it already. This is only my opinion on how i would mod my Sportivo to get maximum FUN and BANG FOR YOUR BUCKS ;) 1) Suspension (Coilovers if you can afford) if not go with -Springs and Shocks combo -Swaybars front and rear -Strutbars -Camber/Castor adjustment -Polyurethane bushes 2) Better tyres, go for 205 (6.5inch) width at least. 3) Apexi PowerFC 4) A set of close-ratio gears (1st to 3rd gear) 5) Full exhaust & CAI 6) Lightweight flywheel (TOMs flywheel rock!) and HD clutch kit 7) Slotted brake rotors and better pads 8) Good quality fluids for the car and regular servicing :D Then you will have a sleeper of a Corolla Sportivo that will win most street drags and attack tracks with great results! Bt note that modifying a car is a very expensive venture and don't expect big gains with bolt-on mods on NA cars. If that is not enough mumbo for you and you want to spend more money and remain NA, look into some serious engine internal components from Japan, or find a reputable workshop and Turbo/Supercharge the sucker Just my $0.16cents worth.. Z
  23. There was a N15 SSS with big chromies and exhaust. There was also a MR2 SW20(not MR-S). Everyone floored it and obviously by the time i hit LIFT i was ahead but i went on to mis-shift into 2nd :( , gave it another nudge and i was in 2nd but by then the MR2 was beside me and i was amazed we were side by side even when i got up to 3rd gear 7000rpm. I guess the mis-shift slowed me down a lot. I couldn't see the SSS. But anyway i remember when i was driving the WRX in-gear acceleration with a MR2 that had exhaust (not sure if it was turbo but don't think so) and i only managed to pull away slowly in 3rd gear. So i think they are pretty quick, has anyone had experience with them? What are their specs, from memory around 130kw 2000cc motor?
  24. I ran a 6.45s 0-100 yesterday night in 8degree ambient temp :P :P
  25. Sorry to hear that :( Take care man ;)
