  1. A TRD CAI is the combination of piping and pod filter to replace ur standard air box (the big black thing on the right hand side of ur engine bay behind ur battery) What the CAI (cold air induction) does for u is allow for more cold air to get to your engine. The standard airbox is very restrictive and is shocking for performance.... Results in putting this on ur car have varied from gaining 6kw at the wheel to 9 kw at the wheels. The CES system is a customer exhaust which was custom built for the stivo by a company called CES in QLD. It is larger than the standard exhaust and has a sports muffler which allows for better flow. Again results from this have varied with one member only gaining 1kw at the wheel and another gaining 9kw at the wheels. On average the gain has been around 6kw at the wheels from this system. Hope that helps ← I won't comment on the hp gain from the TRD CAI since someone in a Blue Stivo with stock intake recently pipped me Stivo by 0.9kw on the Dyno plus i never dynoed my car before the fitment of the TRD CAI Dyno results are too lengthy and controversial to go through in detail but the CAI mod will give your car an excellent induction note and that is worth every penny already not to mention the added performance gain. The CES exhaust system is a very nice sounding exhaust system imo and is not the usual loud crappy exahaust systems you hear attached to other 4cylinder cars. It has a deep note and when you give it full throttle sounds beautiful! When i had the CAI on i thought my car sounded great already but after hearing a few Stivos with the CES cat back exhaust on, it defintelyis something i would get if its higher up on my priority list :D Just something i would mention too is that with the CAI, Exhaust and UNICHIP the Stivo has produced some pretty good results. For about $2500-3000 you can expect close to 130kw atw (approx. 15kw gain atw from stock), so about 160kw at the flywheel (up from 141kw stock). Now again there are too many variables that affect dyno results so these figures are based on a 20% loss of power from the drivetrain and assuming the car has 115kw atw stock and 141 kw at the flywheel to start with. I will stress that the UNICHIP is the most crucial mod among them as it fine tunes what the CAI and Exhaust has done to your air/fuel ratio and ignition timing etc. Z
  2. The steering in the Stivo is something i hate.. way too light and you pick up every vibration and irregularities on the road. The Mazda is a good car imo, only the engine lets it down.. i would love a 2ZZGE in a Mazda SP23 package :P
  3. Can get a TRD enhanced 2ZZGE engine for 1,000,000 YEN. It comes with high compression piston, stronger valves and springs, crank etc etc.. and i would expect it to be tuned and and a straight bolt in and ready to drive. So for AD$15,000 - $20,000 would be a good option if you EVER blow up your current 2ZZGE
  4. Its normal mate to lose around 2000-2500rpm for 1-2, 2000rpm for 2-3 but 3-4 you loose only 1500-1700rpm. Its the gear ratios and road speed that determines your revs. Lowering your car, having larger overall diameter wheels etc all affect your revs and road speed. My advice is don't worry too much, if you put your mates 15inch wheels on your car it will drive more like his. ;) Z
  5. hi welcome to the forum! I have heard of another 05' Sportivo owner having the same oil light come on but his comes on after he warms his car up for 5 minutes. I am not sure what causes this things but they seem more elctrical then mechanical. I am not 100% happy with the 04 Stivo's electrics either. The aircon seems to play up in mine sometimes. Z
  6. Now now justin stop punching above ur weight y dont u be like the rest of us and atleast race something in our class .... u knw Ferrari, porsche etc etc the lancer is just to far above our performance division so im gona have to say sorry i dont believe u :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P ← LOL yeah sorry what was i thinking i must have been dreaming to beat that full sick 92kw lancer well with the zorts and stuff make it about 105kw and thats not at the wheels lol sorry i wont tell fibs again and yeah ZEE i did a LIFT change from 2-3 today wich was pretty cool but 1-2 i dropped to about 5 wich is dissapointing and i think i have a problem recing it out i think im changing too earl ← Justin a good 1-2 change should see you at 5800rpm at least and if you nail it right you will get 6200rpm and a big hearty chirp or even multiple chirps!! Like Dave's Stivo :D 2-3rd is not as hard as 1-2 and when you get a chance at a racetrack try out 3-4 its the best gear landing you at 6500rpm and above! yeh, but for 1-2 you have to be spot on and once you get the hang of it its almost bread and butter.. i guess as you clock more kms having slightly worn tyres also help, less traction hence more wheelspin and higher revs :P
  7. Gear cables, mine has returned to haunt me.. easy fix with 3 cable ties. Stupid gear cable recall did sh&t before the recall the cable ties fixed all rattles. I had mine done at Stewart Toyota Sutherland, will post a pic when its done.
  8. I think try to not let out the accelarator fully when you shift and make full use of the full 8200rpm. It take a bit of practice and some hard driving. I only started nailing LIFT 1-2 (9/10 times) after nearly a year of ownership and around 10,000kms.. Now i'm back to square one again bcuz i lack the confidence to drive it hard after fitting the new clutch and flywheel :( but i'm getting there..
  9. I'm putting more blame on the tradesmen Craig :P he will get it right soon enough ;)
  10. Don't know the specs of the TRD one but OEM is good enough, even for the odd track use.
  11. WTF has he done to the 4AGE to get 122 kw N/A ??? Maybe it has a 7A crank ? And bored out ??? Quad Throttle Bodies perhaps ? Cheers T. ← Possibly 7A. I was there at time get an idea of how it ran. I left ealier. Quads are stock the on the 20v :P Most tuned 20v's with ecu's make around 90-100KW mark. Could be diff rations. It could also be an Forumla Atlantic spec 4AGE that revs to 11 Grand.. LOL ← Didn't know quad throttle bodies were stock on 20v but sure didn't sound like it during the dyno run.. But these 4AGE 20v are bloody grunty N/A motors for their age. Are the Formula Atlantic Spec 4AGE a 20v motor and anybody knows if they were sold on any mass produced Toyota cars?
  12. Last time i was at wakefield, i had a go with a sw20 and he would pull a couple of car lengths down the straight, but id make it up in the braking area of turn one and be glued to the back of him for the rest of the track :D ← Dave's car is quick! I learned the hard way ;) my 1-2 shift wasn't 100% though :P ← yeah and you seem to have a problem handling a stock 115kW too :P sorry Zee, had to add that :P ← So many losses in one day.. got to blame the driver though :P Wait till i master my shifting with the new clutch and flywheel <_< and with new sticky rubber doesn't help the 1-2 shift either :(
  13. 14. I'm in too Justin, cruise route doesn't worry me :) btw a quote from Best Motoring, men and true racers race downhills :P But of course this is a cruise not a togue battle :D
  15. My opinion is get the oil changed but maybe still keep using Toyota's VVT-i 10W30 mineral based oil till 5000kms then go to full synthetic. NEVER NEVER SKIP OIL CHANGES!
  16. In comparison, a few 4AGE (100kw) equipped Corollas and Sprinters produced between 75-80kw atw on the recent dyno day in Sydney so i would assume the 1ZZFE would produce about the same. Except a modified 4AGE equipped Sprinter that produced a whooping 122kw atw, puts our hi-tech 2ZZGE to shame.. :(
  17. Or a 317kw atw Supra sounds pretty good doesn't it and you can get it all under $40grand i suppose.. but seriously i would still prefer an EVO6, its got bags of potential as a full on race car (heck it already is a fantastic track car!), has AWD for rain and snow and can seat up to 4 adults comfortably. EVO has my vote ;)
  18. :D Ahhh, i see! Thanks guys! What a relief
  19. I noticed 2 "chips" off the circled areas of the inlet manifold. It looks like a file has been used to file the edge of it, feels smooth and concaved slightly. The only people that have touched my car have been Toyota and my local mechanic. But was it there in the first place when i bought it? I don't recall seeing it, so can anyone shed more light on this? Will post a clsoe up of my own manifold soon. Cheers, Z
  20. It is terrible even with the stockers on it was bad :(
  21. Yeah, the Phantom will one day be known as Phantom-Northy I think Corey has already booked it in for heaps of things....like CES... ← :o So what's the "New Phantom"!? Shao's been rather quiet recently huh?
  22. In development so does that mean the one on my car is a fake :P :P :P :P :P :P ← I think its talking abt a full kit Bill :P :D
