  1. $55 a rotor seems a lot considering the difference between Blank and Slotted RDAs is around $60-80
  2. Are any of you in a clan? I was thinking of starting a social clan. No one played Tribes or Tribes 2? Check out Tribes Ascend. The closed beta is out in a few weeks. Only a few hours? Actually, I only had a chance to play it for about 8 hours. I never played BF2 but I did play BC2 so everything I saw was expected except for the perks and scope. Same. metro got old quick.
  3. Let's not forget the laws of conservation of mass/energy here. Electric cars only real limitation are range and recharge times, both of which are set by the current level of technology of batteries. If you do a bit of research though you would see there are some really interesting batteries being researched at the moment which promises to revolutionize these factors significantly. For example there are different types of Lithium batteries which will last longer, but the most promising in my opinion are capacitive batteries. Imagine a solid state battery, with no chemicals, that charges almost instantly and can hold an immense capacity which will never decrease with age. The lack of chemicals also means super lightweight as well. The real limitations are Governments and Oil companies who don't want to lose the income boon that is petroleum offers. If you see oil companies buying up big into power plants that's when you know electric cars are on the way. The most likely future involves Hydrogen fuels, as the current infrastructure of petrol stations and logistics of transport and tanker companies can adapt to this technology without too much hassle. Refineries would likely need a ground up rebuild to obtain Hydrogen from water but being purpose built they are doomed regardless. If anything Hydrogen offers greater profits for fuel companies as the raw material (water) is in abundance, won't ever run out (as it all returns to water vapor in the end anyway), won't ***** the greens and is far simpler to process. It's just for the time being we haven't reached the stage where people have given up on petrol due to price, so it remains a greater market to continue selling fuel. The change will be slow, maybe along the lines of a major car company starting to release limited hydrogen cars but also building hydrogen refilling stations. It would likely be a partnership will petroleum companies who would use it as a PR exercise to demonstrate greater environmental awareness whilst keeping their hold on the "fuel" industry at the same time. None of this bothers me in the slightest, as Hydrogen cars can also be "supercharged" etc just in a variety of different methods. I agree with everything Steve has said. so in short... Yes, there will be a point when we don't need petrol anymore.
  4. Just out of curiosity, Are there any Tribes or Battlefield players around here?
  5. Just purchased new rotors for her online. I opted not to waste money on slotted and went for blank, but I am regretting the choice because I've never owned slotted and I wanted to feel special. Also, a few days ago I installed a K&N Panel Filter. The tone is noticeably different. The sound is largely the same but there is a more grunty tone that is louder. At a glance while watching the Air to Fuel ratio on the Torque ODB software for Android I noticed that the ratio seems higher but I doubt this will last and the ECU will adjust.. I'll log the data and see if there actually was a difference. I'm not kidding my self with expecting a performance increase but I'm just curious as to if it does make any air flow difference. I needed a new filter and this was the best bang for buck because it is resuable.
  6. Are you running the same tires? Are his tires bold? Are you running the same wheels? Who's wheels are heavier? What surface are you doing it on? There are so many factors in play that it is hard to tell you why it is happening. I used to own a manual Barina and even that had Axel Tramp when the wheels were straight. My point is, Alex Tramp is a fact of life when you own a FWD.
  7. What exactly do you mean? Wheel hop as in losing traction and it seems like the front of the car is jumping? Are you already rolling when you drop the gear in 1st? If yes, they I don't recommend you ever put your car into first while rolling. 1st is for take off only.
  8. Very nice! Well done. The puddle lights are not what I expected, they are better then I expected.
  9. I had considered the CAI but I didn't want to spend that much on something that did basically nothing but provide more noise. Its hard to justify wasting money on a family car especially when I am in the process of selling my house and buying another. The K&N filter has a noticeably different tone but it isn't enough to arouse suspicion/whinges from the wife. Plus it is only twice the cost of an OEM filter and it is reusable. I've heard a few Aurions and Corollas with CAIs that sound awesome on start and idle but absolutely horrible under load but that is probably the exhaust.
  10. The Taco still lives. I use that alias when playing games online. :P
  11. My K&N Air Filter just arrived at the office! I'm not sure if there will be any noise difference but we will soon know. Picture attached (Yes, I bought more than one and yeah I do know they are reusable).
  12. Thanks for confirming that for me. How much were the bolts? Yeah, that's my parents house but I don't live there any more.
  13. Congrats on the purchase. p.s. my wooden go kart had mad handling as well, one of the perks of having a slow moving vehicle.
  14. FAQ submission suggestion: What are the part numbers and names of parts commonly needed when DIY servicing? Oil Filter Kit Part No.: 04152‑31090 Also Called: ELEMENT KIT, OIL FILTER Air Intake Filter Part No.: 17801-31120 Also Called: ELEMENT SUB-ASSY, AIR CLEANER FILTER Cabin Air Filter Part No.: 87139-06050 Also Called: FILTER, CLEAN AIR End Cap Oil Filter Wrench - 65mm Part No.: 09228-06501 and 09228-06500-02 Also Called: OIL FILTER WRENCH
  15. That is pretty impressive. I love the lightning and the nightlights.
  16. Thanks SuperDave for helping confirm my thoughts. Lets do it Steven!!!
  17. Thanks ToyotaFreak for the pictures. I hope the rear looks better than that in real life or it seems Toyota is heading the way of Suburu in that their whole range looks stupid.
  18. Thanks, yeah I talked to a mate and he said they should be easy to install. $80 a pair, as in, you need 2 pairs? So if I can actually get them for $95 for the complete set of 2 pairs then I'm doing well?
  19. From my understanding it is usually recommended to have Camber Pins/Bolts installed at the same time as installing lowered springs but I for one never installed them and have been running my King Springs for over a year. I will be installing new bump stops soon and thought it might be a good idea to inquire about Camber Bolts. I have some questions for the better educated: 1. Are they easy to install DIY? (I have all the tools a DIY mechanic would ever need) 2. Has anyone used Eibach Bolts (or anything) before and are they recommended? 3. What price would you expect to pay for them? 4. I read that "Camber doesn't effect tire wear", is that true?If true, should I slightly Negative Camber my rear wheels? Obviously I will need a wheel alignment after installation. I have contacted Eibach Australia and they are very vague as to their product numbers. I'm confident I have found the right ones but does anyone know if the following items are correct/incorrect? Eibach PRO-ALIGNMENT Camber Bolts (17mm) for the Front ( Part# 5.81290K ) Eibach PRO-ALIGNMENT Camber Bolts (15mm) for the Rear ( Part# 5.81270K ) FYI Ebiach Australia quoted me $160 + shipping for a complete set. But I can get them for Approx $95 for a complete set (potential group buy maybe). Any help is appreciated.
