  1. wow there's a light in there? haha guess thats how much i use that compartment.. think it has my thingymijig for the touch screen in there and that's it haha
  2. Eaton/Harrop can also supply you with a 4 Lobe TVS charger but won't be red or have the badge and is around the same price. OR you could speak with the guys at Bullett cars who have extensive knowledge of supercharging the Toyota product who have looked at the Aurion. I spoke to them some time ago and they suggested could if they had the car they could supply a bolt on system comprising of a Rotrex charger ( A C30 from memory) and XEDE ecu system. Unsure of that they planned to do with the pulley set up and intake manifold. Fabricate their own ill assume.
  3. Thing you have to remember is after market ones are made to fit quite a few different cars all with different needs and characteristics they make sacrifices in there design to suit more models Genuine is tailored made to that specific engine. But if you must go aftermarket Ryco are mostly considered the best of a bad bunch lol
  4. AHAHAHA oh dude that made me laugh so much, damn i needed that tonight haha awesome i rate lol
  5. Cut them both open and have a look at them put the under a microscope, have a closer look at the seals and o ring. Sure some are as good as a Holden genuine filter but Toyota filters are regarded as the best genuine filters in the world. Few a bucks why bother? And with all the issues we see of cars coming in running like dogs with non genuine filters must hold some weight that they are still inferior to the genuine article. If you have a new or used car warranty the manufacturer or warranty provided will just laugh if you have ANY engine issue and it has a non genuine filter.
  6. Yeah guys, unless you can be sure your goign to get the genuine thing id suggest just going to your local Phillips rep so you can be sure your getting what your paying for.
  7. If you’re on here asking about the correct oil and filters to use (or even the fact your on an owners club to begin with) shows you care about your car and want to look after it so i can't see why anybody wouldn’t spend the couple extra bucks and get a Genuine product.
  8. I think it's best to buy Phillips from a Phillips rep there are too many fake and patented ones out there. But things to look out for it of course the security tag which can be tracked on the Phillips site, make sure there marked Phillips Germany and should have a red centre section.
  9. Just the big old two for me. But Family have had them for decades. 1992 SV21 Camry CSI Wagon - Mine 1996 Hilux Dual Cab 3L Diesel - Dad 1997 Starlet 5 Door Hatch - Mums 1999 LN167 Hilux Dual Cab 3LE Diesel - Dad 2001 Corolla "Ascent Sport" Hatch - Mum 2004 LC100 Sahara TD - Dad 2008 LC79 GXL V8 TD - Dad 2008 GSV40R Aurion Sportivo ZR6 - Mine 2010 ZRE152 Corolla Levin ZR Hatch - Mum Further to that, most of my grandparents, cousins and aunties/uncles also drive them :P Mother did stray for a while between the Corollas’s with a purple VE SSV Sedan and now Dad has a Navara STX550 - i know poor form!
  10. Lol if you have seen the testing and the difference between a cut open ryco and a genuine Toyota filter you'd cough up the extra few bucks every time. Also we have from time to time seen vehicles coming in running like a dog, taken the non-genuine filter off put a genuine one and there back running how they should. Even just having a quick look you can feel the differences between the two, the weight the quality of the paper and seals and o-rings.

    Auto or Manual

Im pretty sure its an F-Sport gearbox from IS.

Have you driven an IS-F? If not, you won't know how this transmission is tuned ... and how fun it will be. Even the tranny in the F Sports are tuned really well. Hell in the new Atara's in performance mode using the paddles are a handy bit of gear. Gives you the gear you select with out delay, blips the throttle on the down shifts.

uhuh but remember the gearbox's are modified Lexus Sourced units not ones out of corolla or thankfully Subaru haha
  14. lol certain level of fixing? lol so the best they could do then or be bothered doing lol? well it's good to see your now enjoying the 6T these days and not cursing it :)
  15. Washed the old girl and hit the leather up with some conditioner. Next will be a full detail - Clay bar , polish and wax ready for the Motorshow! look forward to doing that NOT!
  16. Just be sure the total GVM of both loaded Prado and Van does not exceed the Prado's GVM. This is something insurance companies are starting to really crack down on claims after every clown with a D40 Navara seems to think they can pull 3 tonne and have a tonne in the back and 5 blokes on board just because the brochure says it can haul 3 tonnes! lol
  17. Congrats on your 1000th post! lol SAY whattttt lol? profile says 998 haha? lol
  18. Hey mate, hope your well! Did you end up sorting out all the issues you ahd with the XR6T. Ford could never work out (and never really gave a flying ....) about sorting out the issues i had with mine.
  19. Nope that's not quite true bud, the kelvin rating has nothing at all to do with penetration it is SIMPLY and ONLY the colour temprture of the light output. here's how i explained it to Tash last year. The K (kelvin) rating of any lamp be it Xenon or halogen is of the light temperature and not it's "brightness", throw or power. The Kelvin rating starts at 1000k which is a dirty yellow colour them moves through to around 3000k which is whats referred to as Tungsten then on 5000-5400k which is regarded as the most pure white light (we in the music industy refer to this as "open white"), 6000k which tends to be the most common is white with a blue tinge and then after that you get bluer until you get to around 10000-12000k where it will go purple and then it it’s pretty much useless light and really only good as a party piece. Now lumens is a bit of a tricky one as there is also the little thing of "lux" to be taken in consideration.. but to keep things simple essential Lumens is the base measure of a lamp/fixtures power or "brightness output" as at the end of the day watts isn’t the be all end all much in the same way as a car engine capacity isn’t the definitive limiting factor in which engine can make more power.. to compare to apples with apples roughly a 55w halogen globe like what’s in Camry produces around 1200-1400 lumens in a set controlled environment and a 35w HID would produce something like 3200 -3400 lumens(Lm) and lux takes in account the total area that the luminous flux (spread of lumens) is spread, basically more lumens can be spread over a larger longer wider area. A larger area needs more lumens to be lit properly but throwing watts of power at it isn’t necessarily the answer. It's also incorrect to consider lux as a measure of lamp brightness as not all of the luminous flux is received by the human eye, and brightness is a perception of light and should only be used for non quantitative references to physiological sensations of light i hope that makes half sense, not something I’ve had to try and explain to anybody who’s not within the professional lighting side of things of the music industry and working with these kind of things so it's a little tricky, so let me know if you can’t quite follow and ill have another crack at it for you But essentially the two brands that make the best discharge lamps are Phillips and Osram, why? Because no other brand has the R&D or real world experiences and expertise of these two. Between them they supply all the lighting manufacture for the music and entertainment industry many of which make fixtures that produce in excess of 31000 lumens! In some pretty harsh environments

    Auto or Manual

i guess it really depends what you plan on using the car for. as an everyday car the auto would be a better bet as let’s be honest this thing is going to be somewhat rotary like to drive in the way it has **** all torque and way up where you can’t even use it on your way to work. if you just want it for a weekend car to have a bit of a fang by yourself on a back road or track hen the manual is by far the way to go. Although if you was getting serious with your tracking then you'd go for the faster weapon even if that happens to be a paddle shift auto otherwise what’s the point again? & like everything in life its different strokes for different blokes, changing gears for me is just something you do to keep you going or to get you to that next corner whilst i can heel/toe and do it quite often every time i drive a V8 commie it just isn’t something that gets me off beastly carless for it. i much prefer the thrill of picking your braking limit and finding the right line and powering out of it picking the gar to match the speed is just something that comes naturally and not something i give a second thought too. However i know for other people it’s the other way around so each to their own really. If there was a DSG tranny available i feel it would be a no brainer which tranny would be the most popular.
  21. Yep... Going to be interesting lol. Yeah so i'm told owning a new current gen VW DSG will just be the same as a normal locked torque converter automatic in terms of matience?? lol
  22. There is a clear and distinct difference between a car enthusiast and a hoon and these are hoons. Also what is all that B.S about how sneaky and the lengths people go to hide noisy exhausts from the cops by getting varex style mufflers... Some people just like to choose when they want to hear their 6.2 LS3 HSV like when there going for the Sunday blast down there favourite back road or race track and then when the don’t such as on the way to work or with the mother in the car. i don't the vast majority do it to hide loud exhausts... it's so they can have the choice.. As per usual what a load of crook from these wastes of space 2 buck fifty shows...
  23. Ouch this will hurt, the DSG6 gearbox has dry clutch set up so there is no extra servicing.. say good bye to the 60k service lol
  24. Well i got a Wheel Alignment and balance done on the ZR6 and sorted the rear camber and toe in/out. All is good again back to how it was pre coil over’s :)
  25. Basically it was the gearbox, my car while it was serviced and maintained regularly. It was driven pretty hard, pretty much every day it would get a full run on a mountain road near my place on the way home from work. Suspension, Steering, Drive-train, Gearbox all got a workout. While the dealership I always got the car serviced at said it was in great condition for what it did (a mate worked at this dealership so he knew the cars history), it was just bad luck for the gearbox to go when it did. Another member on TOCAU had a similar issue where he was quoted an exuberant amount of money to have his gearbox pretty much replaced. It's the same case with this car, while it was changing gears okay, it would slip often from 3rd to 4th, or 2nd to 3rd, depending on what the engine was doing at the time. So I can't say it won't happen to anyone else, but I can say the cars history may of had something to do with it. I think you read wrong, or I wrote it wrong. It's almost due for said service, silly me didn't pick up on it at the time. It's not an issue as I expected high servicing costs. (I know the 60k is especially high due to the DSG service) So that will be all good and get done soon, then tax time will come and we'll be looking at some stuff I reckon. :) I do have some photos. I'll put one up here now just to show since I don't have much time right now. So here's one. Yeah nah it was my bad, i read it wrong haha. AHH well you can't win them all mate. Just suck it up and pay the bill not much else you can do and then go for a blast through the mountains and you will of forgotton about it in no time haha
