  1. Basically it was the gearbox, my car while it was serviced and maintained regularly. It was driven pretty hard, pretty much every day it would get a full run on a mountain road near my place on the way home from work. Suspension, Steering, Drive-train, Gearbox all got a workout. While the dealership I always got the car serviced at said it was in great condition for what it did (a mate worked at this dealership so he knew the cars history), it was just bad luck for the gearbox to go when it did. Another member on TOCAU had a similar issue where he was quoted an exuberant amount of money to have his gearbox pretty much replaced. It's the same case with this car, while it was changing gears okay, it would slip often from 3rd to 4th, or 2nd to 3rd, depending on what the engine was doing at the time. So I can't say it won't happen to anyone else, but I can say the cars history may of had something to do with it. This was the very reason i fitted a Davies Craig (PWR) Transmission cooler to my car. Thought i better do something about looking after the Box on some of our brutal road trips lol
  2. Yeah Trent it's a bit of a sad story in regards to that. I think that was a real common ground to how Tash and I became mates too haha. :P (Not only that but yeah, they were called the Gold Cousins after all. heh.) Don't worry Daryl, I ain't going anywhere. I'll be sticking around for the most part, then again I haven't been hanging around much anyway. Too much life stuff getting in the way haha. Haha thanks mate. I ain't going anywhere anyway so all good. :) Yeah when I took it in for the trade. The VW Dealership also owns the Toyota Dealership down the road. (Frankston VIC) and they were quite surprised to see an Aurora Gold come in for a valuation. The Mk5 is quite awesome I must say. I am really enjoying it. Yeah it was a sad day as I've said earlier. Toyota did see the car and they are aware of what needs doing to it as it was traded to a Toyota Dealership actually, they rang me back a few days after I took delivery of the GTI and told me while it had done quite a few kms, they couldn't immediately find any issues. Kinda surprised actually that they'd let me know but I guess they just thought i'd like to know haha. I'll admit I have looked at APR's site and took note of the cost of the ECU tune haha. Tax time possibly. :P To be honest in terms of performance i'd say the GTI on a sub 30 degree day is on par with the Aurion. But if it's a cooler day, the GTI would start to pick up over it. :) Turbos don't like that heat. Also I got the DSG, just in time for the uber expensive 60,000km service too! Hooray. <_< >_> Hoo boy. :P All good though, I got that sorted. ------------- Thanks for the words of support though guys, there was a couple of people who weren't particularly pleased about my purchase but I won't name names. But it seems the general consensus is good. :D You never know, it may go to the Annual. :P HAHA yes get the ECU remap and tax time. I had a half seriously looked at Golf R last year and they was doing the remap cheaper around tax time and that was for the 240kw upgrade. Yeah good effort DSG is the way to go especially since you have that pesky 60k service out of the way. Enjoy mate.
  3. Correct bud, Warranty remains at 3 year/100,000kms BUT Capped Price Service Advantage is now 4 years/75,000kms whichever comes first.
  4. That's correct this is the SERVICE ADVANTAGE PROGRAM not the warranty that remains at 3 year 100,000kms. hmmm that's not true at all.. How do you figure you only save $10.00? Dealers claim the total cost of the service to Toyota who then rebate the difference between the TSA program amount and the cost of the service and it's a lot more than $10.00. Check out your service invoice..... Also compare this to every other car in its class. a Honda accord Euro or mazda6 is a lot more than $130.00 to service. in fact before Agfest last year we looked at the servicing costs for the first 100,000kms on Hilux in comparison to its rivals and in some cases it was between 1430 and 1700 $$ cheaper..... And with TSA it's not just a quick service it's a pull one with full syn oils and in some cars plugs, air and cabin filters also get replaced and all your oils in the case of commercial vehicles. How you can TSA isn’t a good deal for manufacturer servicing is beyond me...
  5. No there was an update model in 2009. Although they are always making subtle running changes to vehicles. The "firmness" of the foot brake like all parking brakes comes down to how well they are adjusted. May just be that dad's car needs adjusting at the next service.
  6. mm well to be fair, light output, Lumens, Kelvin ratings and most importantly Lux is sort of what i do lol
  7. Hey Guys, Just a good to know fact for all November onward Camry, Camry Hybrid and Aurion owners in regards to the service advantage program. I’m sure many of you are aware the new ASV50 Camry and Atara range has a 4 year/75,000kms (whichever occurs first) $130, 00 capped price service program. Up from 3 year 60,000kms on the 40 series. However all Nov 11 onward build HSD's and Aurion's also are running this program. Nothing huge but i thought was worth mentioning anyway. :)

  9. From what I know, there were early plans for Aurion to be AWD, but Japan said no, so it didn't eventuate. IIRC, early protos may have been, so may not be that difficult to accommodate the RWD running gear after all. Fracken expensive exercise though. Cough Kluger Running gear...
  10. mmm what brand are your 6000k's?? there really should not be an issue with Quality 6000k HID's. Sure it's not just poor aiming, Might of buggered it up when doing the install??
  11. All the information you need about caring for your Aurion including servicing needs can be found here in this link. - FAQ is your Best friend http://au.toyotaowne...cau-aurion-faq/
  12. Fixed price for our standard and premium warranties provided by "Harrier Warranty Company" is $179.00 fixed for Passenger & $204.00 from memory for Commercial. That covers vehicles for 3 years and up too 175,000kms with the premium coverage also giving you road side assist. Most Dealers also have another warranty plan for higher kilometre and or older vehicles. We use National Warranty Company for this and you can choose from 1-5 years of protection with varying levels of protection and of course you get Roadside Assist as well.
  13. True TRD parts in the past have come with a quite a price surely Toyota isnt so silly to overprice the parts to the point that nobody bothers to buy genuine and just goes to the aftermarket crowd. or are they???.... lol
  14. Sad to see another Aurion leaving but all for understanding reasons. Has Toyota seen the car by any chance? They actually love to see cars like yours to see why things have failed and why at once, if they don’t know then they can’t fix and amend for the next generation or update :) However, a quick visit to your local APR dealer and a remus exhaust will soon have that GTi on hell of a weapon. were also a VW dealer and the GTi's, R and Sirocco just make me laugh an bring a smile every time I drive one so i know your going to love it in no time. Be sure to keep us up to speed with updates! Did you get the manual or DSG?
  15. See I’m from the other side of the fence, My car from day dot has always being looked after by Toyota, granted i work for them so my car receives extra special attention and i can decide who works on it etc dealerships also now to look out for things that are sent out in bulletins that 3rd party mechanics wouldn’t have a hope in hell of knowing or looking out for. real simply example of this is on the Aurion the engine mount and braces on the left hand side of the engine now get checked and tightened during a service this isn’t a thing normal to check or do but in Toyota world it's a known fact that it's possible for them to slightly untighten ever so slightly, not major but they get torque’d up at every service. Anyway you get the point. it also looks a lot better in your service books to see its been serviced by Toyota it also makes warranty claims a lot easier especially if the dealer is familiar with the vehicle. Can also help resale as well. but all this has to be weight up by the fact yes a third party place will be cheaper just make sure they are using quality oils and genuine filters not cheap Sh!t gulf western oil and RAF filters but yeah if you have a good mechanic who your happy with and trust is doing the right things by you then go for it.
  16. Wow the old 86 is starting to happen now! & yeah you would think it would be more than possible to bolt certain STI parts onto an 86. looking at the parts they seem to have the stiff chassis and masssive stopping power sorted just need more goooooooooooooooooooooo now haha
  17. Wow that really sucks to hear hat so many people are unhappy with the service and car they receive from the closest Dealer. However it is nice if you return to the dealership from which you purchased your vehicle from unless you had a real bad experience or is simply too far away.
  18. HID's would be a little over kill wouldn’t it lol? My mate has got some hard core mother trucker LED ones for his Liberty and if there not bright enough for you then nothing short of a Vari*-lite VL3500 Spot if going to cut it! I’ll see if i can get some pictures of them for you. I’ve been looking at them for my car as well but the first set he got was a little dodgy but we’ve made a slight mod and they seem to be a good thing now.

    2012 Camry

i guess they just wanted people to think about the care in a different light and one way to do this it with a whole new line up. in time these names will be familiar too to us. There pretty straight forward. S is the entry level Atara, SX (a badge that’s familiar in the Toyota sports line up) is the sporty model and SL is the sports luxury model. With the research and workshops done by Toyota showed people thought the names like ultima and Grande were nothing short of naff and poxy.

    2012 Camry

Tash the SX is the "Sportivo" model, they have just dropped the name because they have finally listen that most find that name nothing short of poxy! it also would not go with the premium upmarket direction Toyota is taking with the Atara. The SX still has the different sports tuned suspesnion, revised steering, tinted head and tale lights, sports seats the extra bracing it's still a Sportivo it's just not called that anymore. Chances are the Aurion will be badged just SX6 and ZR6
  22. That would be a tad silly wouldn't it? I have legitimate access to the info ... and much more (well well beyond Saris). I'm just annoyed that dealers are accepting these 'orders' when I can't place my own actual order (with VIN & batch No) :( LOL @ SARIS

    2012 Camry

The moon roof is the only factory option available for the Atara SX and SL, Leather accented seats and or the moon roof is the only factory options available on Atara S. & to be honest when they design new cars to a price something’s get left out in favour of others. id sooner have blind spot monitors on the SL than vanity lights that id use once a year.
  24. I have seen the model launch schedule, showing production start, embargo end, advertising campaign, wholesale and retail dates ... Can i ask how you know this lol? That sort of information is provided to the dealer network under the pretence that it’s confidential and only really for internal use and to give customers an approx of when new models will launch.

    New FT-86

Unfortunately not. The boxer sits too low and far back in the 86's chassis for even the factory turbo set up too fit up let alone the transplant form an STI, sure with some cutting and shutting anything will fit but as a simple engine out engine in mod it's not quite that easy.
