  1. Were you accelerating from 2nd and going to 3rd gear, to accidentally shift into 1st gear? If so, just clutch in and shift it to 3rd. Don't wait to drop your speed by riding the clutch as you will cause unnecessary wear and tear. On the other hand, if you were slowing down and shifted from 2nd to 1st, because your mind was drifting off into space, it's better to just shift the stick into neutral and release the clutch.
  2. So effing muggy outside X__X

  3. Unless you go white or red and then respray your brake calipers bronze/gold, then that would be sweet. Green looks more better if its for track only. Leave the center caps off duy, the rims will look a tad bit bigger without them. as for legality purposes, i don't think it is illegal. There heaps of rice boys out there running around with 18" chuncky plated chromies that can be blinding at different angles on a sunny day. If it was illegal, I would assume they would be the first to go.
  4. Show & Shine 170 McIntyre Road, Sunshine North - 03 93118888 They don't mold to make the spoiler and wingtips look one piece. OR DT panels 11 Lightwood Road, Springvale - 03 9562 3633 They mold the wingtips so it looks one piece. Ask for Vu and say Row sent ya. However, I think your got yourself in a pickle, because in order to mold them on the spoiler, the wingtips need to be unpainted. So waste of money there already. After molding, they respray the entire spoiler to your factory colour code. Just make sure they colour match the paint while your car is there, as you will need to leave the spoiler with them for a few days depending on how busy they are.
  5. Running stiffer rears will make a fwd car more prone to understeer. Also, the stiffer you have the rears, will result in the rear sliding out when cornering. I keep a 15mm rake position in regards to the lowered ride height and set the front dampers stiffer than the rears. This allows me to negate some understeer by reducing the downward load on the front tyres, at the same time keeping a positive roll resistance. If a driver has an understanding/experience of weight transfer and knows how to use it to his/her advantage, then basically variances on suspension setup will work for him/or her.
  6. Change the colour before you wrap the tires on them. Red on black, will look aggressive on track what about white?
  7. Do I see red sb & pc circuit rims? =) nice score duy!
  8. Does the piping follow the stock piping position? Is the CES exhaust piping hitting the undercarriage or your torsion beam? Maybe try using a shorter or longer hanger arm respectively to see if that fixes the clearance problem.
  9. Hey Des, Try F4:R2 or F5:R3. My opinion is to run the rears less stiff than the fronts to minimise bunny hops over lumpy roads and also help induce cornering at higher speeds on the circuit. Maybe try running with the rear tower brace off to reduce understeer, then set rear dampers one lower to the fronts. I can't recall if you had a front strut brace, if not, it would be a good investment too. I suggest lowering your car another 15-20ml, making sure you keep a rake position of about 10-15mls. Effective ride height will reduce unnecessary weight transfer due to the decrease of center of gravity. It will also positively affect the aerodynamics of your car. I personally have noticed an indirect positive impact on the tyres. They seem to stick to the bitumen a whole lot better as both tyres are pretty firmly planted on the ground. It will also compliment your -3.00 camber. In addition, I found that the more I increased the front dampers, the better steering response was attained. I suspect the reasoning behind this, is because when the front dampers are stiffer, it puts less strain on the stock rubber control arm bushes (It also increases the longevity control arm bushes). I noticed that you apply the brakes abruptly, which negatively affects balance and momentum of the car. Just as there is a race line to take, there is also a braking line which you need to consider in braking progressively fast and smoothly, not suddenly. In addition, try 3rd gear instead of 2nd, where I mentioned it whilst sitting in your car on the circuit, with better throttle control you will be able to have sufficient high cam power to pull out of corners. Refer to attached diagram. There is no best line to take. The best line is what you are comfortable with in executing. Develop a time attack race line that is appropriate for your driving technique, skill level and your car. Every car behaves differently even the same model cars, because it's either been tuned to the driver's specs or not tuned at all. Adapt to the car, because the car will not adapt to you with exception to the ECU. Knowing the course is one of the most important things to consider. Knowing which gears to be in, prior to entering a corner/s bend is a must. Try to refine one hand steering technique, because this you enable you to develop the skill to to maximise entry and exit speeds with less turn in on your steering wheel. You can induce more oversteer if required with the brakes progressively fast not abruptly, prior to entering a corner with the front end pointing slightly to the corner you are attacking. Also, another technique is to lightly tap the brakes with your left foot whilst your right foot is on the accelerator whilst cornering. This will also induce a bit more oversteer to compliment the one hand steering technique. Just remember to keep the car in high cams, or you will have no torque upon exiting the corner, thus being as efficient as a push bike on track. Good luck on your next sessions... hopefully 1:50 will be acheieved. Go the RED ROCKET! ;)
  10. There should be headlight adjustment dials behind the headlight enclosure. They are usually grey and the size of a 10 cent coin. One adjusts the light beam horizontally and the other vertically. You can do it by hand or using a socket wrench to turn the dials. A good way to adjust the aim, is to park your car on level ground about 5 metres away from a wall, which you then make a marker that is just above knee level. Keep the engine running and headlights on and start adjusting the dials. The reason why some people running around with HIDs blind others on the road, is because they have not bothered to do the above after having them installed in their car. Vertical adjustment dial = adjust the light beam up and down to avoid lighting up a motorists rear window and cabin when your behind them. Adjust it, so that the beams only light up their rear bumper. Horizontal adjusment dial = adjust so that your right headlight beam does not light up the opposite side of the road on to on-coming traffic. With the left headlight, make sure you adjust it so that the light beam side cut off lights up a bit of your left hand side, but not too much. The light beam side cut off should be approx 50cm - 1 metre from your left front side fender. This will allow your left headlight to light up the left part of the lane like the gutter so that you can see kids, animals, drunk ppl, etc that might suddenly go on to the road from the footpath.
  11. Have the following inspected before a mechanic starts quoting you prices on master cylinder: 1. Brake pad - how much meat is left? 2. Have the brake fluid tested with a digital moisture detecting device. Literally takes several seconds. If the moisture content is below 2%, it's considered normal. If it's nearing 3%, then this will explain the spongy brake pedal feel. It's time to replace the brake fluid oil. 3. Have the brake lines inspected for any abnormal wear and tear. If it needs to be replaced, you can go OEM or upgrade to braided brake lines which are ADR approved. 4. Have a brake specialist to bleed the brakes to release trapped air pockets from inner walls of calipers and wheel cylinders. 5. Adjustment of the rear drum/shoe or disc brake assembly may be required. In addition, if you want a sensitive brake pedal, then you have the option of adjusting the brake pedal push rod.
  12. The Red/Green wire could possibly only apply to a Sportivo model.
  13. Do you have a corolla sedan or hatch? If you have a sedan, a member posted the info below on the same link (post #141): Hope this helps.
  14. thought it was still a thunderstorm forecast tonight?
  15. If they are worn, try calling around to source second hand rails from Toyota wreckers.
  16. Firstly, how heavy was your dad and you? :P Secondly, have you inspected the teeth on the rails which allows the you to adjust it forward and backwards?

  18. Guy at dicksmith said that the entire unit - bulb in the grey casing (12v ciggie light) has to be replaced as a whole. Centre console has already been replaced from green globes to red leds by BKS. Thanks for the info/website link, much appreciated.
  19. duy, u do know if they don't have your permission to release the photos of you or your property, then it would be dismissable in court. They won't be able to use it as evidence in a civil action against you. If they do, it only leaves them prone to being sued by you. But if you are robbing a bank and using the car as a getaway car, and a witness takes a pic of you/your car, then thats a different story, because it will fall under the criminal legislation.
