  1. I would absolutely shiet myself if I seen your car. Whats with them though, what do you use it for?
  2. Very nice, I love seeing black Aurions on the road. They look very classy.
  3. Needs moar photos. That's disputable :P Yeah, I've been lazy. I was going to do it straight after cleaning the car but I had to go airport straight after. Should have taken the camera actually, awesome shots there. Also, are you challenging me who has the cleanest car :P. I detail mine literally once a week and if I'm really busy with work and stuff at least two weeks.
  4. I wasn't pointing to the oil around the cap. I know that issue was resolved. I was just using that picture because you can clearly see that the one spot that was remaining which you have indicated in this post is the exact same shape as the previous one. Anyways, that leak would appear to be more likely originating from the Bank 2 Intake Side VVT Sensor which is the thing directly above the leak. The rocker cover gasket is way lower than that so I wouldn't imagine that being the issue. I'm not sure though if the underside of that VVT sensor is exposed to oil however. Yeah I was wondering too if that sensor is exposed to oil. Will have to see, if Toyota said its the gasket I wonder if they know this is a problem? But hey, won't kill to get my gasket repaired/changed. The cars has done 60,000KM and a fresh parts would add much more life and I won't have to change it or fix it any time in the future for a long time. :D
  5. will be very interested in where it is coming from. Just had a look at mine, there is a spot in the base of that switch where the oil may be seeping, it may just need a new gasket or sealant whatever they use to fix it. Yours too? Hmmmmmmm, I wonder if I uncovered another fault in Aurions.
  6. thanks. what problems? there wasn't a link above. I'll do my best, since it is 2008 it at least has 1 year left. This: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=22775 And this: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=23623
  7. And compared with previous photo that he took, you can see it wasn't cleaned thoroughly therefore allowing dirt the chance to stick: When I took my Aurion in to get the VVT-i oil line changed they replaced my cap. As you can see in the new pictures no more leaking oil from around the cap.
  8. No no, I actually cleaned it very well about 3 days ago. I used degreaser and window cleaner and a micro fibre cloth to clean it off, I've cleaned that spot about 5 times until I eventually came to the conclusion oil is coming from somewhere which is when I told Toyota. So it has been wiped off plenty of times and the last time I did was 3 days ago and its the same again.
  9. As you can see the part I circled in red, my rocker cover is getting repaired by Toyota because of this oil leak. Where is it coming from though? I forgot to ask them when I was there few days ago.
  10. Congratz! If you still have warranty, make sure to look through this thread to get the problems fixed.
  11. I gave it a clean top to bottom inside out. Started detailing the inside with sprays and vacuum. Then went onto the outside and gave it an awesome detail, which I also got to use Meguiars Deep Crystal "Wet look" polish. It made the paint look stunning, then things like tyre shine etc, check for imperfections then give it a cruise around. It sounds so easy when writing it but after spending several back breaking hours detailing a car inside and out is tiring. I love the looks I get having the cleanest car on the roads. The new slimlines I put on give it that extra subliminal umph of extra classy detail to the car. B)
  12. I listened again. I'm thinking it was probably in connection with his statement when he said "... got a 14 from memory last time. See what he does this time." Easier said than done unfortunately. On the overall topic of things, it's not really that impressive. You trap speed (the speed you were going at the end of the 1/4 mile) is a good indication of your cars power (more specifically power to weight). I would really love to get at least a 100MPH trap speed while maintaining the car in its stock trim. Basically as a daily driver that can manage a 100mph trap speed. Problem is, I think I have run out of things to do to lighten the car whilst retaining it's interior etc. 170km/h isn't so bad with the Aurion. It glides quite smoothly at that speed. Even 245km/h is good... but stability is very twitchy as you would expect. Now that is one speed I will promise myself never to go again. 245Km/h thats impressive :D. We would have hit higher then 170KM/h until we got stopped by errm.. But yeah, 170Km/h in the Aurion feels excellent. I think some engine mods on your car would be good to get it faster. ;)
  13. Why was CC a no no when towing? Edit: I see with CC on you had worse fuel consumption. Why?
  14. Maybe its a she driving? Lol, wtf indeed. Nice driving there. Disappointing that you couldn't beat your old time. Love the in car cam. I would love it if you were to be able to organise a race between a fully stock Aurion and Yours. Your top speed of 160KM/h is impressive. I hit 170KM/h on mine the first day I got it, never again.
  15. How is this possible? Are the overseas ones modified in someway?
  16. On top of that, if he fails to win, even with cheating, then he will make the Aurion look even worse, more so if his workmates were to find out. Yikes, we would all become a laughing stock.
  17. Wow, mine has gone really really bad, its a thud thud thud as I turn the steering wheel turning corners slowly and I can actually FEEL it slightly in the steering when it thuds. Hope I get this fix soon. Two weeks is going to feel like two years to get the part in. Then I have to book it in which always they are booked out so need to book about a week later. Damn it. More then 3 weeks.
  18. Don't cheat. Its giving a bad name for us Aurion owners. Where is the principal! But damn I would love it for you to beat the Ford.
  19. I'll put it this way... try asking Toyota to replace a part* for free that is currently still in working order. I think everyone can figure out the answer to that. Are we forgetting my car has a limited warrany because it was flood damaged? Because it is on the outside of the car, they tend to shift the blame pretty easily without looking into it. For the effort involved, I'm not going to go from dealer to dealer once I get the same answer a couple of times. * That is not involved in a recall. Hmm alright. I didn't forget I did not know you had limited warranty.
  20. What are waiting for then. Will you be getting your shaft replaced?
  21. It's not the shaft that's clunking on mine. That part is still fine on my Aurion. As I have mentioned a few times, mine is the steering rack mounts. The only real way to fix this is to change the entire rack because the mounts cannot be obtained on their own. It doesn't affect performance or safety, so it's just an annoying noise that I can put up with until I can figure out a solution that doesn't involve changing the rack. Hmm alright, but I guess it won't kill to get it done. Its free and something that might become a problem later on. Your close to hitting 100,000k so might be a good idea to get it done. Who knows they might even change your rack. Just ask around different dealers.
  22. No. Only time you need to change it in most cases is when you remove the rocker cover, or if it wasn't sealed 100% in the first place. As I said, these things can happen, even for something off an assembly line. Sorryy, my bad. I meant your shaft to stop the clunking.
  23. Correction; rocker cover gasket. These things can happen though. Not every engine is made perfect unfortunately. Could have been a slight defect with the gasket as well rather than the way it was assembled. Alright rocker cover gasket! :P . Edit: Did you get your one fixed yet?
  24. Dude , over $10 Grand in fuel in less than two years :o I calculated my fuel bill for the whole of 2009 to be $1435.86 ( for a 96 Camry ) How many klms have you done ? I think he is on about 90,000k
  25. Nah, I certainly wasn't an A grade student. I'm just good with something if I can get my hands around it. Since I've pretty much taken my Aurion apart, I've got a decent idea of how everything ties together. I was the type of kid that would take a screwdriver to toys and take them apart to see what makes them tick. I'm just a hands on learner. Im like that too, only I can never put things back together again. Hi Everyone. I had it in to Penrith Toyota last week. After hearing nothing from them I decided to call them up and spoke to the mechanic in the workshop. He said he had taken it out for a test drive and couldn;t hear anything, it must be intermittent! I told him to go out again as it was a constant noise, meaning all the bloody time! I then go to pick my car up and am told the steering shaft needs replacing, it is going to cost $560 but Toyota Australia will kick in 50%. I am totally confused about what is happening. I called Toyota Customer Experience and after numerous conversations I was told the issue was NOT a known fault and that I still had to pay my 50% of the cost = $280. Bunch of bull****. Show my work order as proof mate.
