  1. DJKOR is correct,as there is numerous settings available.Just by chance if you are using a dashmat is the hole for the sensor clear and not partially covered,just a long shot
  2. How can you say its cheap on Toyotas behalf .Get behind the wheel of a Commodore and you not only hear the servos doing the check but you can definately feel it through the wheel also. The check in the Aurion is very mild in comparison.
  3. Mate go back and ask the name of the oil.The only dark green oil I am aware of is 2 stroke oil
  4. There two new Petrols that i havent heard of in that article. Premium 100 and E85... E85 = 85% Ethernol. That would make the car fly :P Premium 100 would be good if it didnt have ethernol Bloody oath mate that 100 octane sounds good ,pity its only avail @ blacktown and down on the border,Article on the V8 Supercars;; CSR Ethanol CSR Ethanol has become the official fuel supplier of the V8 Supercar Championship Series in a deal set to reduce greenhouse emissions from V8 Supercars racing in Australia and overseas in 2009 and beyond. CSR Ethanol joined the V8 Supercars Championship Series at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 for the announcement of its role as the official fuel sponsor of the sport and of the CSR V8 Racing Green carbon offset program for the next three years. The fuel to be used by the high performance V8 Supercars from the start of the 2009 season is E85, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% unleaded petrol. E85's high concentrate of ethanol is great news for the environment. Ian Glasson CEO of CSR Sugar, said "We are excited to support the V8 Supercar series. Every litre of E85 made from CSR Ethanol produces less than half the CO2 emissions as one litre of petrol so this move will help them reduce the racing CO2 emissions of the V8 Supercars by over 50%." The deal marks another milestone for V8 Supercars Australia in improving the environmentally friendliness of its sport while sending a strong message to millions of followers that ethanol is a fully viable petrol alternative for road cars. "We are in the business of motorsport which will always rely on fuel as its main source of energy but it is time for us to set an example to the wider community to strongly consider ethanol as an alternative fuel," V8 Supercars Australia Chairman Tony Cochrane said. "If a fully engineered V8 Supercar can be powered by a majority ethanol fuel blend, we encourage all Australians to make the switch to an ethanol blend to help sustain the environment. "Over time we believe that ethanol will become the fuel of choice and will be available at more retail outlets so we encourage everybody to start using ethanol in their everyday lives."
  5. Evening Anarcher 217, click on this site mate, price varies according to what type of bar you want,they also have one to suit the Sportivo varient .They in Sydney www.shop1auto.com.au/New%20towbar%20pages/Towbars_Toyota_Aurion.html
  6. No Worries at all mate, Always happy to help out :) Hi Adamsy,I did pass your info on to my friend and he does use 98 in it,he had to use 95 in it a couple of times due to the servo in which he gets it from out of 98 and he informed me its only then that he puts it in, other wise its 98 all the way. Mate I enclosed that article relating to normal unleaded being discontinued (NSW NRMA open road July Aug 2010 edition ) hope my attacment works,, take care mate
  7. I don't think you you followed my reply correctly. I'm referring to putting an auto tilt kit on mirrors that weren't designed to that feature. Those Aurions that have the auto tilt have different mirrors to those without. For the auto tilt and position memory, the mirrors require sensors that tell the control ECU what position the mirrors are in. Without these, the aftermarket controller will most likely make its adjustments based on timing. This in turn can lead to innacuracies in its adjustment. Sorry dude my mistake
  8. Thanks for your info Adamsy,I will pass this on to him much appreciated mate,once again thanks
  9. Hi seifer,SuperDave answered everything you needed to know in three lines mate,and take note of his last paragraph,regardless of what people say about using 98 in a car designed to run on 91 and achieve maximum efficiency (204kw on 95 octane). Unless you own a ferrari or something similar you are just wasting your money.Its all mind over matter mate.I dont know why you dont use E10 as very soon thats all thats going to be available as of the 1st July 2011 the Government is putting a ban on the sale of regular unleaded.We personally use United 95 E10, and both the Aurion and our hilux 4.0 V6 thrive on it. In the Aurion we average 8.9lt/100 on a trip to Coffs Harbour.A mate owns a TRD Aurion and he swears by it.By the way next time you see a tanker driver pulled over for a rest just ask him who makes what fuel,regardless of wether its got shell,mobile ,bp whatever on the side,you need to hear it first hand,then you will change you views on where you go and what you use,
  10. Just my 2 cents worth if it helps.We have a 2010 ZR6 with reverse camera,front and rear parking sensors and the auto drop on both driver and passenger external mirrors.And to be honest all the electronic Gizmo,s in the world cant beat turning and using your rear vision mirrors to help reverse I do know that with the camera once the subject that you are reversing up to is almost at the bottom of the camera screen eg(kerb) you have around 1/2 metre clearance before touching it,also you can turn the auto drop mirrors off by having the electric mirror switch in the centre position,which is where we leave ours, but the moment you put it on Left or Right and put the car in reverse it activates the auto drop function.We also have the heated external rear view mirrors and they work when the rear demister is switched on,and I must say they are one aspect I would recomend on any car,takes less than 30seconds to completely demist mirrors.I read an article some where that the same ECU is used for the seats as well as the mirrors,maybe someone can clarify that;And as for the mirror loosing its adjustment over time, it works in conjunction with our smart start to give the primary position in relation to whatever remote was used to gain entry into the vehicle so I cant really see how it is going to loose adjustment,not like you are reversing every where all day every day, hope that helps you out lulchul,
  11. Thats a good question hanofee,I,d be inclined to make a few enquiries regarding that because if that belt breaks and those pistons do smack the ars* of those valves (leave the rest up to your imagination).One thing I do know is that when my brother replaced the timing belt on his RAV4 it wasnt much more to get the whole kit which like you said contains a new waterpump.155kms thats almost 100,000 miles in the old money,for peace of mind put a new pump and belt on, as its sure to let you down at the worst possible time
  12. That's so True.......... I for one totally agree with you there Ronny boy,being in my mid 40s (ol bas*ard) its good to be able to give out help and offer advise with out being ridiculed and to also recieve advise which has helped me out and no doubt many others, thanks fellow TOCAU members
  13. Mate, you should of took it to a sparky (auto electrician),not to bloody Toyota;;No offence toyota,but then again what in gods name are you cutting and hacking ya wireing.Ive always said if ya not gunna do a proper and professional job give it to someone who will,looks like your new wireless just might of cost you $5000--ouch :o Are you sure you have checked all your fuses even the ones BEHIND the glovebox
  14. Warner,from what I can gather you think that your wheels need aligning as when you are turning into a parking place or anywhere else for that matter your wheels give the impression of leaning out at the top,well what you see is exactly what they are doing.Even though they are doing this at full lock,your cars alignment is o.k mate.You think the Aurion is bad have a look at a VT-VZ Commodore when it is on full lock.Honestly mate if it puts your mind at rest go and have it checked.There is a tyre joint up the road from Charlestown Toyota who would check it out for you for a small fee or they do a (four wheel) alignment for around $30. And I can vouch for their work,but honestly mate unless you hit gutters or have a liking for diving into huge potholes,all is O.K with yours, take care mate
  15. Oh well have I got some news for all of you today. :P The most amazing thing happened... </sarcasm> I started to hear that knocking sound again today, was all too familiar. But I noticed it was for ALL the wrong reasons this time. Got under the car and noticed to my suprise, the bar had snapped. Clean in two on the left hand side. I can't get a photo right now but I was absolutely dumbfounded as to how it happened. The knocking started when I was driving in a straight line not even applying pressure to the unit. Anyhow I've had to spend another $340 ordering another as the stock one I had has been turfed thanks to the old man. :S Mate you do realise (Ultra racing bars are made and owned in Malaysia) they are only sold in Australia by distributers under the Ultra Racing name tag. They might look the part but their durability/quality control leaves alot to be desired as you found out first hand,By the way mate dont hand over any more money for a new bar as apparently they have the following; [bBuy Genuine Ultra Racing products to enjoy life time warranty This an extract from their website
  16. Hi GSV40R, so mate what is the cause of the knocking within the Aurion rack (in the inner tie rod end ).We had our whole new steering rack installed/replaced under warranty MY10 (only 15000kms).Is it insufficient preload or is it a bush inside the rack housing that wears.In regards to FMAN he is on his 2nd rack, so what happens now, rather than fix the problem Toyota just puts a new rack in each year.If you can find out exactly what the fault is would be much appreciated
  17. Mate all cars running catalytic converters/unleaded fuel do it. Its called hydrogen sulphide (that is the foul smell). Next time you are boring up a hill and a car goes past giving it a boot full, thats when you smell it most.When we bring our cars into the garage it absolutely wreaks like theres no tomorrow. My hilux 4.0 V6 is worse than the Aurion.Honestly you are worrying over nothing.If you try shoving a hose into your tank to drain the fuel theres a risk of damaging your fuel sender/fuel pump. :o LEAVE IT ALONE;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
  18. Also power is cut to the fuel pump if the airbags are deployed or the engine is stalled.
  19. Mate I hope this answers a few of you queries;Extract from Toyota pre-release B) Buyers of Australian-made cars will get their first glimpse today of the latest upgrades to Toyota’s locally built Aurion V6. Styling changes for the Aurion include a new front mask, faster-acting LED stop and tail lamps, and new wheel designs across the range. Aurion's new front mask includes new bumpers, grilles, headlamps and fog-lamp surrounds. In addition to the revised styling, Toyota has upgraded its Australian-built Aurion V6 range with improved comfort, convenience and safety features as well as more equipment. There are five model grades: AT-X, Prodigy, Sportivo SX6, Sportivo ZR6 and top-of-the-range Presara. Styling changes give Aurion a stronger, more distinctive look that advances the original design's premium character. The lower grille is now a trapezoid shape, which improves the look of the car on the road.. The design is said to increase the feeling of prestige with more subtle, flowing surfaces between the basic elements, blending rather than intersecting. The rear lamps have also evolved to a parallelogram design with striking diffused LED illumination. The side of the car is now cleaner and more modern with the removal of body-side mouldings. Sportivo variants are more aggressive with a grille that has more technical "edgy" feel and the development of new 17-inch split five-spoke alloy wheels. New interior colour combinations freshen the premium interior. In the case of Prodigy and Presara, they create a prestige, sports-luxury appearance, enhanced by the new linear satin woodgrain finish. Toyota has also upgraded Aurion's instruments, audio systems, lighting and in-cabin storage. Safety improvements include improved light distribution from Aurion's low-beam headlamps – both halogen and high-intensity discharge types. In addition, Aurion Prodigy and ZR6 Sportivo gains an electro-chromatic interior mirror, power rear sunshade and rain-sensing wipers. Sportivo ZR6 has the added safety and convenience of heated exterior mirrors and auto-tilt exterior mirror on reverse. Interior comfort improvements include adopting dual-zone climate controlled air-conditioning on Sportivo SX6. Aurion's audio systems have been upgraded across the board. All models now have a Bluetooth™ hands-free telephone kit and 3.5mm auxiliary audio input in the front centre-console box. Most models have a Bluetooth™ audio system. Prodigy and the two Sportivo grades have a new "display" audio system with 4.3-inch colour LCD display, reverse camera capability, six-CD multi-changer, USB/iPod™ auxiliary audio input, and Bluetooth™ telephone hands-free kit with microphone integrated into the facia. This audio system is optionally available on AT-X grade. Presara's AVN satellite navigation audio has been refined with an additional two speakers (for a total of eight speakers including two dual-cone rear speakers) and auxiliary 3.5mm input. The AVN satellite navigation audio system is optionally available on Sportivo ZR6. Facelift Aurion's new instruments look better and provide improved indicator and warning-signal clarity. Driver's seat and exterior mirror memory has been adopted on Sportivo ZR6. Front-door scuff plates are branded "Aurion" on top-of-the-line Presara and "Sportivo" on the two Sportivo models. Toyota Aurion has a 3.5-litre Dual VVT-i engine that delivers maximum power of 200kW to the road through a six-speed transmission with sequential-like shifting. At the same time, Aurion delivers excellent fuel economy of just 9.9 litres/100km
  20. Thats great news mate that you were not left out of pocket for their inability to do what they were paid to do,afterall it costs no more to do the job required correctly.So mate I know you dont want to name them but to put our minds at rest can you at least let us know what state and also what town or at least what area you had it in at;;;It leaves a sour note in your mouth and what they dont think about is the fact that you are going to tell your mates and they are going to tell someone and on and on it goes. Its just pure incompetence and being totally slack, but anyway good to hear
  21. :o Mate I would be taking those samples together with the new oil sample and I would be asking to speak to the service manager and the dealer principle both at the same time with customers in the service department listening on as you sit all the evidence together with the removal tool in which you want a full refund on by the way,and ask the question;;How on earth can this be the new oil when this here is a sample of the new oil and this **** here is what came out of it.But on another note I personally would of took the car back and pulled the dipstick out and shown them prior to dropping the oil as really now its only your word against them.What I do is when our car is ready to go from being serviced I pop the bonnet and visually check that the oil on the dipstick is almost transparent,but pursue the matter,remain calm and polite,take a witness,do it in front of waiting customers,DONT SWEAR,and demand a full refund on all oil supplied or 2 x 5 litre containers of Genuine toyota 10w30 VVTI oil, best of luck mate keep us all posted.If they become smart****s,let them,then in a nice calm voice tell them (I am going public with this)then say no more but remain in the waiting room have a cuppa and start to talk to the other waiting customers and show & tell them your situation;;;;;;;;;;;
  22. Davewarby, on 22 July 2010 - 11:54 AM, said: Hi, new to the forum and I am after some advise. My 2009 aurion is burning massive amounts of oil. I have had the cAr serviced and the dealer told me i had damaged the valve seals by using 5w-30 oil and the engine is now damaged and will need replacing. The car has done 49k in 15months. They then told me it cannot be fixed under warranty and would cost me 18000dollars to replace the engine. If anybody can give advice it would be greatly appreciated as I am a complete numbskull when it comes to cars Mate from what you have stated I would have to agree and think along the same line as Steven,I cant understand people wanting to supply their own engine oil whether it be some flash fandango mineral or synthetic oil, for what ever reason its got me stuffed,as you have found out first hand that $50 you saved on your sevice for suppling your own oil could well cost you close to 20 grand,The first service at 5000km is the most crucial oil change as it is the one when all the swarf and rubbish from the fresh engine is drained out of it.If it is valve stem seals you should have a large amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust going down hill on a trailing throttle when engine manifold vacuum is at its most and oil is being drawn past the stem seals and through the valve guides,if you havent well its definately not valve stem seals.How long have you noticed the smoke if its a sudden occurance it could well be a broken oil ring.Go and have it diagnosed by a reputable mechanic and get a written quote stating what the findings are but dont mention what Toyota reckons is the problem
  23. Hi just after some information in regards to the footwell lights available for the aurion.Do they come standard in the Presara or Prodigy.I had alook under the dash and seen where they fit into, what I want to know is,are the wiring plugs already there taped up ready to be plugged into the lights and where abouts do the rear ones fit.I thought I would ask here first (someone might already have done the install ) before giving Toyota a buzz
  24. Good question Unique,when a vehicle is driven by the front wheels rather than having a Diff as such it has what is commonly known as a Trans Axle (Differential and Transmission COMBINED )Going by the hand book for the Aurion it holds a total of 6.5 litres of WS (world standard) Automatic Transmission fluid,with only a mention of replacement at 90,000km (Additional service)otherwise its only an inspection at every 45000km unless its used for towing etc then the inspection periods are almost halved.They are a sealed unit and have no dipstick,but then again unless its leaking the fluid is not going to dissappear or drop in level. If anyone else can shine more information on this matter I too would be interested. you are correct about the transaxle incorporating the one oil level. some earlier camry autos did have a separate oil level for the diff side and a lot of mechanics did not know this. Hence the old sv21 autos were bullet proof , until the pinion seal leaked and the diff lost oil. so if the mech/tech was not aware of this , goodbye complete transaxle (auto's dont fair well with floating metal particles) so if you have your auto oil replaced it will also include the diff in the case of the u660e transaxle. The way to check the auto oil level is complicated and really can only be done with an IT2 , the trans oil is at a specific temp and after running thru a feqw nominated shift positions and holding your mouth right you can remove the overflow plug to see if the level is correct. Thanks GSV40R,It sounds like a bit of experience on your behalf dealing with the above,cheers
