  1. Because of the design of the standard system and the mounts it does allow the exhaust to move around a lot. From the spring loaded composite gasket at the base of the headers right through all the rubber mounts to the back they are very soft and designed to absorb all vibration and allow movement. Going to the CES system with the bigger diameter pipe as well as the larger resonator it does cause clearance to be reduced. It takes a little bit of adjustment to get the system to sit right but once that's done it's all good. Before you start get the system centralised on all mounts Firstly the figure 8 style rubber mounts need something packed into the 2 holes between the mount and the system. I have cut pieces of conveyor belt to fit into mine to stop movement in the mount itself. You could use whatever you want so long as it's not affected by heat. After you have done that get some large zip ties that are wide and place them around the rubber mount. If you are looking at the mount place the zip tie around the mount from the mount on the body to the system. Pull the zip tie up tightly to reduce the movement in the rubber and it also locks the spacers you place in the mounts up tight as well. This will reduce the movement in the system a lot. The hitting of the heat shield you will need to clearance the heat shield from the system using a flat punch and hammer(one of Northy's favourite weapons of choice!!) Once you have done that you then need to ensure that the system cannot move or slide on the rear mounts(front and back of the rear muffler) this is done by placing a zip tie on the mount itslef to stop the rubber from sliding on the mount. Once you have done all this all your problems should be solved unless whoever fitted your system hasn't welded the system on straight. (that could cause you another headache!!) Hope this helps!! If not PM me or Northy and we'll see what we can do:)
  2. Should be out. Rob you and your sidekick coming out??? we meet up not far from Indro.. Pm us fro directions if you want. :D
  3. If someone wants to give me a set then I might be able to get some copies done.

  7. How bout keeping your post clean please or it will be removed. Last warning.
  8. Totally different and will not bolt onto 1zz head. Guys keep it clean and on topic please. :D
  9. I was going to get some but now that every one on here has them the appeal of being different is no longer there so I'm going to be different and not get them
  10. Headers yes Exhaust yes CAI yes Works on both old and new models. :D
  11. what car do you have more info on? the celica or the corolla? If you dont really care then go with the Celica as with PFC tuning should be a lil easier and you don't have to start from scratch. Mate this thing should fly!!
  12. sorry to correct you Marcus but the sedan and hacth are on the same wheelbase and are almost the same length. How do I know?? Because I do!! :P The stock Sportivo cat back would be the best alternative for your car mate as it does give nice gains and nice but not loud note. Yes it does fit on a sedan because Rolla Racer up here in Brissy has one on his sedan and it fits perfectly.
  13. second to last qualifier...there was a dub according to the seeding chart (not sure if it was one of your lot) that went slower than me, but not sure if he hung around for the racing (assuming he broke something or was just out there for sh!ts and giggles) none of the cut off times are being enforced this season - appart from the front mod cut off, which if you go over you get bumped to street front and have to pull off your slicks....combined class tho so it doesn't really matter, hence why i entered in the first place. Jamboree saw 40 odd cars in street rear, the slowest being some volvo at over 20 seconds, and it was allowed to race.....its all well and good to have cut offs, but until ray gets a decent following, he's not gunna turn entrants away. I wouldn't have put it in if i wasn't going to be allowed to race it. Was a good day out... i was taken out in the quarters because i redlit against that insane alcorn red rocket (if that thing doesn't end up with the national record in the near future i'll eat my hat...they havn't even really begun to touch that K20A - still on standard cams, with a head that'll flow happilly with far more lift and duration - still standard compression, still standard redline...in a car that when wringing wet is only 25kg short of the weight break with driver....that thing will move) I'm hunting anyone who happened to video my car at all...apparently the insane pipe was blowing blue fireballs while i rattled it off the rev limited on a burnout. was a great day out... big thanks to the vee dub boys for loaning me an air compressor and being good fellas all day, cheers to Brenndan for the chat, cheers to ray for a good event, and to the willowbank guys for a brilliant track.... Mate only one of the VW's went slower than you in one practice run. All others he was quicker and in the 2 rounds of racing he competed in he ran 14.89 and 14.95. not bad for a 1585 cc engine made of 2nd and 3rd hand bits!! Morgan Smith dropped a rod in qualifying so he didn't compete at all. didn't get any pics of you or video as I was busy pushing cars and staging them at the same time you ran. Poor ol twiggy got sand bagged by Dave Homer!!! Bit Cheeky I thought.....
  14. Some good footage of quite a few of the same cars but none of all motor cars bar 1 Honda and one very quick clip of a VW. Bit of shame really.... There were a lot of other fast nice cars there that weren't rotaries or Jap Taxi's(Skylines)
  15. Wei.... 85ish civic with K20 ran 11.67@116mph!! Bit quicker than some of the boys from POV?? what do they run??
  16. From what I can remember from the day was that Lordworm qualified last in all motor and didn't make the 14.99 cut off but was still allowed to run due to not too many competitors. He came and had a chat with me and said that he set a new pb for MPH and ET(something like 15.2@89) with the crazy loud as exhaust and some more weight reductions. (should be on the biggest loser!!) So now he should be able to amost give a Stock Sportivo a good run for it's money!! Had another mate up there with a beetle with 1585cc motor with webers, cam, light flywheel and any other part he could scab 2nd or 3rd hand from some other mates and put this engine together(all up motor cost him a few hundred $$). Took all the crap out of his car and had trouble launching it due to major axle tramp causing it to jump out of 1st gear. So he drove it slowly off the line then into it and managed to run a respectable 14.89@89.?mph. Pretty darn good effort for a small motor. On the other hand one of my other mates won All Motor with his VW and reset the national record with 11.40 @118.2mph. Congrats Dave and well done!!
  17. yeah true but hopefully this one is not poor quality...he said its good quality.good thing he is in adelaide though...i can come back to him if sumthin happen.^_^...but thx for the advice silvabullit No probs mate. Hopefully it'll all fit as it should. :D
  18. Remember cheap price = cheap quality and poor fit. :(
  19. Mate there is surgery for that kind of thing. A bit of a nip and tuck should rectify it ;)
  20. The stock mats will get heel marks in them and will eventually wear right through. If you have your wife/girlfriend/partner/ boyfriend(one for you ROB!!!) who wears heels dirve your car this will happen even quicker. I have placed rubber mats over the top of the factory ones to help keep them clean and reduce heel wear as my wife drives the car more than i do. Mine is over 3 years old and with the rubber mats on top do not have any holes in my mats. Cheap rubber mats cost stuff all and I'd rather replace them than the factory ones. ;)
  21. Firstly the CES CAI for the 2zz is mild steel and HPC coated inside and out. The CES CAI for the 1zz is stainless steel. TRD is aluminium. The pipe on a CAI gets pretty hot as I have compared the difference between the TRD and the CES tmperature wise. After a short hard drive the TRD pipe is very hot and holding it for any length of time will burn your hand. The HPC coated CES pipe on the other hand is lukewarm. So obviously the coating does reduce the amount of heatsoak into the pipe from the intake manifold/throttle body etc etc. So consequently the HPC coated pipe will deliver cooler air to the intake. As for the flat spot low in the rev range firstly check that the maf is mounted correctly and isn't leaking. You have said that you made a copy of the CES CAI now have you got he maf mounted exactly in the middle of the pipe?? And is it mounted the right distance from the throttle body?? Have you got all the pipes etc connected to the VSV Valve and have the other vacuum lines blocked off?? These are things that will affect operation and performance. Also when you go to a bigger diameter pipe it takes the maf a little longer to read the airflow through the pipe which does affect throttle response. There is a way around this and it is the way you apply the throttle. All CAI's will do it to some degree if you just put your foot flat at very low revs it will lag in response but if you progressively apply the throttle it will respond quite nicely. JC has CES CAI on his Sportivo with no other mods and he was trying to drive it like it had the airbox on it. Just pushing his foot flat at no rpm and consequently little or no acceleration to be had. I then drove the car and showed him how to progressively apply the throttle and he couldn't believe the difference to how the car picks up it's revs. Car goes great and really pulls hard right hrough the rev range. Hope this helps you out a bit. Cheers SB :D
  22. powder coating the pipe won't make a rats difference to the way the car goes nor will it change the heat resistance.... Most of the CAI's that are used on this forum require you to warm the car up first before you drive away. As for the flat spot do an ECU reset.
