  1. If you do go for Super charging don't forget the badge (Badge from Corolla Compressor - A supercharged ZZE-123 offered in European market) Seriously though if you do go for it best of luck and listen to the wise like Xoom, who have actually done this sort of thing, and yes you are right to start planning and looking around now so come two years time you know what to get and where to get it
  2. Check the service requirements too. The extended warranty we have requires that we go back to that dealer for servicing a bit of a pain in the backside as we have 3 dealers closer
  3. I'll have to dig out my notes for the full pricing. My reason for saying no was that at the time the price difference with TRD or TTE was not huge (I think K-Mac Springs were $560 installed and TRD and TTE were at the time, April 08, around $550 supply only and I already have a set of spring compressors) and as I may be selling the car in 2 years (at the end of it's lease due to high mileage - 40k in 6months so far) I thought I would get a better return on the TRD / TTE either sold with the car or separately. How did you go with the guys at K-Mac when you spoke to them? Spring set from them is $350 supply only,40mm or any height you want really. Iwas looking at TRD and TTE as well but they are both 25mm and i wanted lower so went King lows 35mm but rear is too high as as most corollas sit. Iam going Sat to reset the rear another 10 - 15mm.Measure it first and decide cos i just want it to sit level. Also Lovells do 40mm front and 48mm rear but were too expensive from where i got the quote so i'll stick with what i know and have been good to me before. Id like lower but not practical and front bar has heaps of overhang and scrapes sometimes as it is.Plus i want a TTE lip :D Make sure you check your insurance NRMA (in NSW) said they would only cover 30mm lowering, though they were happy previously to cover my Falcon lowered by 50mm alround. My preference is for the TRD lip over the TTE but I don't want to become Mr Plow, the Modellista lip (a factory option in Japan) to me looks like the best option, not too much plow but plenty of style

  5. I spoke to them about a kit for my ZRE Corolla, but decided against it they were offering installation of a rear sway bar (including mods to make it fit) as well the usual suspension. I used them on my 95 Falcon in about 97 and I was very very impressed with the ride quality and handling. I was always led to believe that K-Mac was more for the larger cars (Commodore / Falcon)
  6. Another item for those who want to dress up their corolla is the chrome trim offered as an option on the Japanese market This picture is from the Japanese catalogue I'll upload a photo of it installed on mine (stands out a bit better on Wildfire) once I have given the car a good clean. Cost was just under $220 landed (but again very dependent on exchange rate)
  7. the disc cant be copied - ive tried . youre looking about $395 for a replacement I have heard unofficially of course that one disc can be used over several vehicles just borrow disc from mate, insert disc, system upgrades itself then hand disc back to mate. However I am yet to try this as I am still trying to justify the price of Sat Nav in my cars
  8. Of course one other option is that it may just be one of the Toyota guys personal car (lets face it if one had use of the Toyota parts bin one would go for the Euro rear wing and Japanese front skirt and the Euro wheels are another option for 18's) and he thought he would get a bit of lap time in while they were doing more tests on the Aurion????
  9. Had a look at the article. Wheels and Spoiler are TTE Is it perhaps an SR180 with optional wheels?
  10. From what I have read you are correct the 2zz was dropped due to not meeting Euro IV emissions (the same reason for the down grade of the 1zz I had heard through the grape vine that TRD were testing the Toyota Motorsport (the old TTE) dual exhaust Does anyone have any pictures?? I have Googled "TRD Corolla" and it just comes up with the articles TRD will not be releasing a Corolla and this thread (and of course the rally news(
  11. It's completely lacking in power - no TRD badges or stickers anywhere
  12. Anyone know what the wheels on the Rally Corolla are (Size and make/model)?
  13. Saw the add on Tv and don't get the cat heads thing, unless of course this all results in the release of a turbo or super (or both - re. VW) charged model with a cat name it doesn't make any sense
  14. Has anyone had a look at the Japanese site for the accessories they get there, the range is huge it is just a shame that the Dollar has gone south against the Yen. http://toyota.jp/service/option/dc/webitem...&kind_cd=01 before you order it the stuby antenna apparently does not work with our Corollas and the Modellista range is not bad http://toyota.jp/customize/auris/modellista/index.html http://toyota.jp/customize/auris/m_selection/index.html I have the rain repellent mirrors and the chrome grille on order. I am keeping an eye on the yen before buying any more gear Mood Lighting is a personal favorite a shame it only comes in blue
  15. yeh, you're right. i like the fielder! looks good. would be good to see it hit our shores, but at the same time it would suck too. its great driving the 9th gen corolla wagon knowing that theres no current rolla wagon. makes it more rare, exclusive, prestigue. i know its still just a wagon, and a great one at that (and an upgraded version is probably inevitable). .. but for now, its like driving something thats limited edition, and having it hotted up just adds to the pride ;) Wagon is available in NZ (and it's the cheapest Corolla) Edit Maybe I should have read the full thread to see this was already mentioned
  16. Quite right every one will hire a ute but no one seems to get the idea of hiring the 4WD or large sedan for the holidays and just use a small to mid size as the daily car. Similarly one sees all those couples he has the SS / XR8 for to and from work and she as a Barina / Fiesta for getting the kids around and doing the shopping where the extra space (and possible extra safety for the kids) is actually needed.
  17. Yes and it is unfortunate that the US is such a large consumer of cars that has kept the likes of GM and Ford producing cars that are inefficient and oversized. Maybe it's all got something to do with fuel prices or maybe we need a sales tax systme like some of the Asian countries have which is based on capacity. In Indonesia (this is going back a few years so things may have changed) for example one is hit with 400% sales tax for anything over 3L, hence a lot of luxury European cars were only 2.8L, though tax above 1.8 was still quite hefty, they also sold 2WD LandCruisers Motorcycles are a prime example, everyone loves a Harley but how efficient are they, one of the Japanese manufacturers (Yamaha I think) actually had to severly detune their engine (25-33% power drop) to get the Harley sound (or similar to avoid infringing the patent)
  18. But it's all about the price tag isn't it? Talking with the neighbors after I got my Corolla I showed them through it and explained some of the features. When I was asked about the price the response was that's a lot for a small car a couple of k more and you could have a Falcon/Commodore. When people shop for a car how many look at reliability vs. ticket price? My primary reason for buying the Corolla over something from Korea was reliability (the fact I wouldn't be seen dead purchasing a new Korean was another factor but not the driving one) Would people pay 5k more for a car that was more reliable? the answer unfortunately is no. Most people look at what they get on paper (feautures, size, performance) and not the aftersales side of things (reliability servicing costs).
  19. 7 if you add a TRD sticker as well
  20. Congratulations, They look fantastic I am currently going through the process of changing rims from stock 15's to either 17 or 18 and still have not yet decided (obviously will need a quick call to the insurers to check no issues - have been caught out before)
  21. I think the exhaust is beautiful and unique, definitely gives it a subtle standout from a standard IS from behind. Now a Lexus to aim for, for me.
  22. Would the one for the current model camry suit?
  23. It is probably an internal marketing issue within Toyota World and Toyota Aust In Europe the performance Corolla is a Diesel with 400Nm of torque (and I think 130kW) and yes it performs but here in Aust the ever cautious Toyota was not confident the Aust market would accept a performance Diesel (mst people stillbuy the Golf TDi for it's fuel economy not it's performance over the comparative petrol model
  24. Just to elaborate further:- Novated Lease is paid each pay period out of pre tax income and the lease fee has three components 1) Finance of vehicle dependent on value of vehicle, the interest rate charged by the financier and term chosen (1-5 years, though 2-4 years is more likely) 2) Operating cost At the start of each FBT year (1st April to 31st March) one forecasts how many kilometers they will do in the year and therefore likely costs of fuel, registration, insurance, servicing and tyres this is then divided by 12 and that amount is charged each month. As well as coming out of pre tax income the benefit can be discounts on fuel, tyres and servicing 3) FBT as stated by a few others above the % charged is dependent on kilometers traveled in the year up to 15,000km =26% 15,000 to 25,000 = 20% 25,000 to 40,000 = 11% Over 40,000 =7% Assume you have a $30,000 car (ex on roads) and you only do 20,000km your FBT charge would be approximately $6,000 (NB the formula is a bit more complicated and will give a marginaly differnt result but this approximation is sufficient for a preliminary can I afford). As rollamods mentioned there are numerous calculators out there (it is important to check there assumptions given the current price of fuel), they will give you a better indicator The above is intended as a guide only and does not constitute financial advice, individual situations will lead to different results.
