  2. I currently have my Corolla on Novated Lease and yes they can work out quite a good deal. However they are not for everyone, it depends on two significant factors 1) how many km you will do per year 2) your income level (and therefore your tax bracket) and it is important to get independent financial advice on this a further downside is that they usually only apply for late model cars (such that by the end of the lease period (1 to 5 years) the vehicle must be no older than 7 years (or up to 10 with some companies), this was disappointing for me as it ruled out a late 90's Twin Turbo Supra or even the 2.0L MR2 By the way what model Toyota did you get (your piece sounds suspiciously like a plug)?
  3. That's a fairly steep wing with serious downforce (or maybe it acts as an air brake) for a FWD PS - Lambo doors look so wrong on a four door
  4. Quite a few people have them on Novated Leases with a three year turnover so there is nothing wrong per say with the car the person has just updated because often the leasing arrangements do not give much encouragement to hold onto a car no matter how good it is. We have a V6 MY06 (05 build) Altise Limited and we love it, I would have bought a V6 Sportivo or V6 Altise Sports as my work car except garage size dictated a Corolla or smaller. Have a good look around the V6 Altise Ltd was a good buy over the V6 Altise or the I4 Altise Ltd
  5. Not standard on 4cyl Altise or Altise Ltd and Not standard on V6 Altise
  6. It really varies it can be as late as March April for the previous year model clearance. For the lets get the numbers up before the end of the year sale it depends on how the year has gone I seem to recall that some years it didnet happen at all
  7. You know this from an interview on Drive.com.au Toyota Australia’s senior executive director of sales and marketing, David Buttner, says plans for a TRD Corolla have been hindered by the lack of a suitable performance engine. “If you look at that hot-hatch segment from an engine performance point of view, we asked what [engine] output could we get from the existing Corolla,” says Buttner. “And there was nothing we could do to get sufficient [power] output to make us compettitve against what are some very good offerings in that [hot-hatch] segment. “If you can’t match [rivals] in terms of kilowatts [it’s a problem], and we couldn’t even get close. Buttner says Toyota’s best efforts to extract more power from the Corolla’s 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine (currently 100kW) were still “20 to 25kW off” matching hot-hatches such as the 147kW VW Golf GTI. Toyota Australia has also ruled out two overseas Corollas because of homologation issues and re-engineering costs. Japan has a Corolla model called the Blade Master that’s powered by the same 200kW V6 in the Aurion, Kluger and RAV4, and Europe has a 132kW 2.2-litre turbo diesel Corolla.
  8. you reckon it would look good colour coded Keep in mind though if you are thinking of side skirts you will have to lose the front guards. If you want colour coded check out if the front and back are the same and if they are order 2 pair of Levin rears in the appropriate colour
  9. What a wonderful read, I like it when a thread gets passionate, just a shame it got personal So let me get this right you are criticising a guy for spending $20 on a sticker, when you spent $50 or $60k (if you bought it new) on a badge. For the record why are you no longer driving the BMW? That's nice dear, when I was 24 my grammar (and spelling) was significantly better than yours and although I had not completed my first degree I already had a 6 figure salary package and an overseas posting in a senior role with a major international company. So it would be advisable to forget about one's social standing and concentrate on why we are all here, a love of Toyotas Ascendant justice Spend the extra money and buy genuine stickers they will last longer and actually do look better (plus you are guaranteed the spelling will be correct - seriously) For the spoiler (and any other bodykit items) take a look at http://www.trc-tuning.com/index_shop.htm and select Auris (the name everyone else calls the current Corolla hatch). They are expensive but it will give you ideas as to what is available Jaaassseeee Full marks for the picture, way cool
  10. I read an article a few weeks ago (I will see if I can find it) stating that Craig Lowndes' team was in discussion with Toyota re. a V8 Supercar entry for 2010 and that there was some possibility within the current rules (but please don't ask how)
  11. If it did, do you think they'd still put it in the car? Or not put a warning about it in the manual? When you use the L>2 etc shift points you aren't actually changing gears, just limiting which gears the gearbox can select. L means the box stays in first, 2 allows first and second gear etc etc. It's the same as overdrive, which just locks out/allows top gear to be selected. yay this is awsome news i can now have more fun while driving. auto gets boring lol... This is why people buy manuals :P
  12. I've had mine for just over 5months now and done 32,000 on it and I love it. It runs like a dream could do with some more power (though can't every car), I have put in a TRD air filter and am looking at doing something with the exhaust, but aside from the Bluetooth issues I am very happy with the car as an overall package
  13. What about all the TRD parts for the Corolla (suspension, exhaust and front wing among others) or the TRD exhaust system for the V6 Tarago or the rest of the TRD catalogue? It is available just no one appears to want to sell it
  14. Unless other dealers are very slow the wait at Castle Hill ranges between 10 days and 4 weeks for TRD parts and as most new Corolla owners know this is nothing compared with the 2-4 month wait for a Corolla and if you want a particular colour for other models it can be a 10 week wait so the dealer should have the parts in by the time your vehicle arrives
  15. There is always TRD http://trdparts.jp/english/parts_aero-auris.html and it comes prepainted depending on your colour (black, silver, white or red)
  16. Has anyone been able to order their new Toyota with TRD components fitted (apart from an Aurion or a Hilux)? When I got my Corolla I could not find anyone (even though their spare parts dept. sold TRD) that would sell TRD parts with the car (to make funding easier) let alone fitted to the car, just wondering if this has changed.
  17. With the exception of Mazda's series 3(or 4) RX7 looking remarkably like the Porsche 944 of the day (even allegedly down to badge positions), but then Porsche supposedly took legal action against Mazda on that one and how many people thought the MRS2 looked like a Boxster (not that Toyota would do replicas (Sorry no pics to illustrate as I haven't got around to reading how to do them yet - yes I know where the article is I just haven't read it)
  18. I have seen them available in Europe just cannot remember the website, though I do remember they were quite expensive.
  19. Were scuff plates ever an option for the 36 series camry. I am after Genuine items but the spare parts dept I spoke to said they were not available andd ebay and the like only appear to have aftermarket ones. Many thanks
  20. same goes for tyres to make sure they get rotated I had heard with the oil filter that it is an idea to put your initials other wise "we put that mark on it when we were doing stocktake, of course it was changed over" I can vouch for this one my brother in-law was shocked to find the passenger side scuff plate missing from his HSV after he dropped it off for a service, they had used it on some one else car
  21. Has anyone heard anything of an 09 upgrade? The rumors I had heard some time back were stability control and that it would be released in Aug-Sept 08. Anyone heard anything else re dates and/or changes
  22. I was talking with a couple of the lads at work the other day and we were going over the various names people have for cars and I thought surely the good people on the forum could come up with a few more. Here are some of the ones I could remember TRD - All that's missing is U (think about it .............TURD) MrsBitchy for Mitsubishi Commonwhore for Commodore Hold on for Holden Wrecks for overly riced WRX's and for a bit of old skool (in the early 90's we were struggling students and had cars from the 70's) Found On Rubbish Dump - FORD (prior to the mid 70's Fords had FORD spelt out on the bonnet and boot and occasionally the words were written in with Artlines)
  23. After my 20,000 service I have an update on this. Their are apparently 3 issues: 1. 3G Network - There are apparently problems with 3G phones (I don't have one so I don't know any details) 2. Non-Nokia phones (I have a Nokia so again no details) 3. Where you place the phone in the car - Placing the phone in the compartment directly below the gear lever (in a hatchback), which would appear to be the obvious place to put your phone, will result in intereference (possibly due to the wires that run underneath there). Where as other points such as your shirt pocket or the cupholder (we were testing another theory) will not give interference. When you try to claim warranty and the Toyota persopn checks it they will probably have their phone in their hand and so not get the interference and therefore think there is no problem. The dealer I had the service at is going to contact Toyota about a fix as I had them witness the problem.
  24. You can get them from your Toyota Dealer (but take the part number with you - from TRD website) Castle Hill quoted me $640 (supply only, but it comes painted)
