  1. I also forgot to mention that I have quite the cassette collection too. I'm also into vintage HiFi and have collected some prime pieces from the 70s, some from the 80s including stereo receivers,Turntables, cassette decks and reel to reel machines. The golden era of HiFi. You'll be amazed how good a cassette tape can sound on the right equipment.. Reel to reel is even better for sound reproduction. Another hobby of mine besides everything else. Staying indoors has had me pulling a few out, giving them a check over and clean, then carefully putting away. I love my vintage gear.
  2. I can concur with that. Been there too mate.. Age is a good cure for that I think. I look back at you my younger days and there is plenty I wish I could change but can't, so trying to be deliberately polite and considerate is a great start. I have also distanced myself from certain types of people who are kinda still stuck in a time warp of bad habits. I've long since moved on being a family man now and trying to lead by example for my little guy and also a young apprentice I have under my supervision where I work.
  3. Oh yes, of course. I forgot about her. Memory isn't as it was.. Whitney was such a gifted talent and she succumbed to the drugs and alcohol. Same fate her daughter suffered too. Very tragic indeed. I still have an Original copy of her 2nd album release "Whitney", I purchased when I was around 16. It's still in mint condition. I also have several other copies of her other releases including her debut album ( one of my favourites) on Japanese Vinyl with OBI strips. Highly collectable and sought after. I must admit here that I am a collector of rare and other 1st press vinyl, and have many copies of Whitney's releases. It was a bug I caught when I was pretty young. Purchased my 1st Record in '82 with pocket money saved over many months. How times have changed. Still buying vinyl to this day. One of my favourite hobbies actually.
  4. For sure Ash. I'm always happy to help with what knowledge I've gained over the years. It does bother me too when someone knocks on the door here asking for help, then when we go off to have a think about a solution and come back, they're gone.. It is a little disrespectful actually, but who knows what circumstances OPs like this find themselves in, but for the least part, acknowledge the time someone has taken to assist. Not much to ask eh ?
  5. I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to say that it's been a stark reality how most of our favourite artist have gone too early. Prince was another shocking loss in recent times. He never left a will, thinking he'd get around to it in his twilight years, and now all his so called relatives (vultures) are coming out of the woodwork to try and scam a bit of his estate. Shameful. George Michael, Michael Jackson, Prince, and yes David Bowie (Robert) just to name a few in recent years. He did a great job with his duet with Freddie Mercury with the song "Under Pressure", from the album "Hot Space". I'll never get sick of hearing that song. Freddie Mercury's loss was a huge one not only for the band, but for music too. Too sad.
  6. I wonder if the OP is aware it has a cabin filter ?? It's most likely blocked to buggery, hence his poor airflow and It is also possible that the drain point could be gunked up. It's hard communicating with one hit wonders who drop in for one question then you never hear back from them again...
  7. Yes Bigmike, That's seems fair and reasonable. If you trust the guy then why not. $200 for labour isn't much. I'd happily pay that if I couldn't do the job myself, but as I am still willing and able I still like to do all the servicing myself. It's a good feeling having fresh pads and rotors. The car will drive even nicer.
  8. I thought I'd give these two pieces of rubbish a proper send off 😁😁 May you rest in Pieces....
  9. I hear you man. That would've had me going like the clappers too lol. I didn't know you could put teeth back in though. Good to hear your boy was ok mate. Shocking stuff. I can't stand those types of truckers. It's bad enough they hog the fast lanes to overtake at a snail's pace and then have the gaul to keep you locked in behind for many kays before the "entitled" one finally decides to move over. Must be a trucker control thing, I don't know.. I'm glad your wife gave the correct dose of medicine. I'm sure his attitude sharpened up quick smart afterwards lol...Good for her. 👍
  10. This is funny. I did this once to an impatient driver who just wanted to pass everyone on the freeway. I was watching him in my rear view doing the old zig zag in and out of traffic manouvre.. out of my way...Mr important is coming through... I am entitled ....bla bla bla.. He comes right up to my tail hoping I'd speed up, then quickly goes for the overtake and as he's screaming by slowly I gently push my right foot and glide away, then pause as he starts pushing forward knowing he either has to floor it and hope to get by or just swallow his big ego and fall back in line. He chose the latter. I get these gronks all the time lol.. That was funny to watch. Lesson to all those. Don't underestimate an Aurion hahahahaha !!
  11. Yes. I had a chance to do a quick online search and it seems that the DOT4 is the way to go. DOT 3 is pretty antiquated by modern standards. That's the way I like to drive too. I don't want to scrub the edges of the tyres unnecessarily either. That's 200KW of V6 power mate !! 4 CYL cars scream and protest and don't fill me with as much confidence as a V6 car does.
  12. I'm also like you in the driving dept. I drive my Aurion smoothly and am also gentle on brakes and cornering. It's not a hoon car and I actually enjoy driving it the way I do. If I need to over take on the freeway I have every confidence it will destroy most cars. It's a real Jekyll and Hyde car. Love it !
  13. That thread was partly hilarious. Those boys don't play nice 😁😁 So basically Dot 3 and Dot 4 are the same except the DOT 4 has a higher boiling point. (big deal, I don't race or abuse my cars either). So I can probably say that DOT4 can be used as the two will mix albeit after I do a flush it will all be pretty much DOT 4 in there anyway. It also stated that the DOT 3 and DOT 4 are made up of the same substances so I don't think the seals will be affected. just not sure which is more hygroscopic, which also begs the question how often to flush the fluid to reduce the long term effects of moisture ingress. I would think annually would be easy to achieve rather than the typical 2 years for what it's worth hey Ash ? I might just go ahead and use the DOT 4. I have 10 Brembo DOT 4 x 500ml bottles
  14. I'd never heard of Remsa pads before and I'm definitely interested. Just had a quick look and the claims are pretty impressive. Also the low dust is a huge bonus as the bendix tends to make the wheels look dirty after a week. I would certainly consider switching when my pads are due. Your road test would be an excellent opportunity for feedback there Ash. I might jack my car up today and check my brakes and possibly do another fluid flush if I can find my unopened DOT 3 bottles.. I have plenty of DOT 4 for my other car. Is there a reason why DOT 4 can't be used on our Aurions ?? I recall you saying a while back that you did use DOT 4 and then you switched back to DOT 3.
  15. Won't the ceramic pads chew the rotors though ?
  16. Sounds like you're racing around Jeffy 😁 in which case any brake pad will cook. Aurions aren't capable of such a driving style unless it's smacked down to the ground with racing tyres etc. Spirited driving isn't all out flat chat hard, which you probably wouldn't get to do on the road anyway, but the occasional moment. We're getting too old for all that kinda stuff anyway and I want to keep my points too. If the bendix ultimate has a slightly better overall feel and stopping power under normal conditions, then yeah, I'd advocate for it. Safe motoring 👍
  17. The Pilot 4s look tempting and looking at the price, there isn't all that much in it between the Primacy 4 and the Pilot 4. Just wondering if the Pilot Sports are as quiet and long lasting as they claim for the Primacy... Tempe Tyres here in Sydney have them for a great price https://www.tempetyres.com.au/tyreproducts?michelin-2155517-98w-pilot-sport-4-st https://www.tempetyres.com.au/tyreproducts?michelin-2155517-94v-primacy-4-st
  18. Shouldn't take more than a couple hours. The rotors and pads can be done in around an hour and then say half hour for fluid bleed/flush and then another half for final inspection and road test. He may even do an inspection of the rear and adjust if necessary. It is a pretty easy job on these Camry/Aurions.
  19. I have no objection to either there BigMike. Nice combo if you plan on driving spiritedly for a while. It'll cover all your bases. I'm not sure either if you're mechanically inclined or have access to some tools, because it's a very easy job if you wanted to tackle it yourself to save a few bucks. You'll need to push the pistons back in the calipers to accommodate the meaty new ones and the fluid will need to be bled if it hasn't been already. If you decide to do it, we can guide you or look online for a DIY. I did mine a little while back and it was a breeze.
  20. I agree 100%. Lifestyle choices absolutely mate. Your Dad was a wise man, instilled in you from a young age what NOT to do with your life. Work ethic is very important. It reveals what kind of attitude you possess and from this you'll derive respect.
  21. If you haven't yet, I think this is probably what you're looking for https://www.toyota.com.au/toyotalink/faqs
  22. I was the same Ash. In my younger days working on cars, all I had was my Dad's Sidchrome socket set with ring spanners and open ends in the one box. (I Still have it and it was when Sidchrome was made in Australia too) along with a mish mash of other cheaper tools. We had to improvise alot too as we couldn't afford fancy stuff or mechanical aids. It was all hard work, but it was great fun. I loved working on cars. I was already into rebuilds even during my HSC years back in 88 - 89. I'll have to post up some pics of my Original Sidchrome set one day. My Father, for someone who isn't mechanically inclined being a carpenter/welder, had the presence of miind to buy a quality Socket set that has remained since the 70s. Now as adults and with more disposable income I can buy all the nice things I never had or couldn't afford. One benefit of adulthood I guess. Yes. Humble beginnings for all of us.
  23. I love the commitment everyone shows here. This Forum is a great place to be. Among friends who care. Thank you to all !
  24. Glad you learned something lol. It was news to me when I saw that and I've had the car for what 6 years now ? Detailing is my 2nd love. Nice to see you get into the nitty gritty detailing with the vents etc. That's me all over. I have an a pretty awesome ****nal of detailing equipment and products. Kranzle 1152 TST pressure washer ( best machine money can buy, believe me) Big Boi blower, Flex dual action polisher, 2 bucket wash, grit guards, hose guards(these go under you tyres so the hose doesn't snag as you go around the car), various wash mitts, and many other things such as Polishes, sealants, polishing pads etc Too much to list.. I'm going off topic again..
