  1. So not only did I receive my You Beaut, Oil filter housing removal tool earlier this afternoon, my other delivery from Toyota arrived too. The team at Sydney City Parts are Legends ! Purchased the Genuine Oil Filter Housing on the 6th, then on the 7th I purchased a Genuine water pump gasket ( it was very cheap and thought the heck) and they both arrived this afternoon. You can't get better than that. A big shout out to the Team at Sydney City Toyota who value their customers. I've purchased many times from them over the years and have nothing but praise for the level of professional courtesy. Awesome Team ! So I'll have another crack at it this weekend and hopefully get my housing off without too much drama. If in case I have to get creative, I have the spare one on hand. (Good thinking Ash !) Pssst... Just quietly... If you look real close underneath the housing it even tells you what to torque it too hahahahahahaa !! 25Nm.... not 22225Nm !! I can't believe I missed that lol !!
  2. I'll be road testing my new oil filter housing removal tool Ash. It arrived today from OMIK. It's so beautifully crafted I don't want to use it but I have too. 😁😁 Made in Straya mate !! Comes in a special box too.
  3. I just informed a friend of mine who has a GSV70 Camry 2018. He knew nothing about it. I guess it was only announced a few days ago and they wouldn't be able to get to everyone that quick. Thanks to this forum, the message will spread even quicker. He's looking into it as we speak. Good one Robert (KAA) Thank you 👍
  4. Yeah, feels like Communist China right now. Prisoners in our own country.. The commentary was great stuff with the Legendary Mike Raymond. He was The Man ! Not only the voice of the Chanel 7 commentary team but also the voice for the Liverpool Speedway ads. Remember that ? "Be There" ! I could hear the Speedway errupt every Friday night when I lived in Merrylands. God they were loud !! It's since been closed down of course with greedy developers moving in ruining the landscape with tacky high rise buildings, over crowing an already over crowded Sydney.. I digress.
  5. I have been always wanting to go visit that museum. Those pics sure bring back memories !
  6. According to the article, no Australian vehices have been affected (yet). So I wonder how they would determine if infact a recall is warranted ? Have the factory stumbled upon something only now and just realised ? Is it just me or is the quality of new cars going backwards ?? Makes me want to hold onto my Aurion as long as possible.
  7. I also enquired about the price difference too. He said that the $55 one has the 3/8 socket machined into it and the $35 one doesn't. Just has a hole in the centre. I opted for the the extra. I guess it takes a lot more time to cut this in hence the extra charge. I don't really mind paying the bit extra. It looks like it will be a lifetime tool, unlike the throw away garbage I've been accustomed to lately...(not knocking the Kincrome either. It held up well over the last 7 or so oil services where Mr Dumb Dumb here over tightens his housing. It finally cried enough on the 8th 😁😁) Yeah, you're also right in that it does act like an oversized socket. Machined to fit perfectly, no slop.
  8. I've yet to decide which ones I'll go with just yet. I've been riding on the LCs twice now and am thinking to go either Primacy 3 ST or Primacy 4. I'll do some research as I'd like to try something different. Now.. back on topic..uhum..Did I say I had a new oil filter housing on the way ?? lol...
  9. I almost pulled the trigger on that one, or ones like it from China, but I didn't want to wait that long for it to arrive with all the shipping delays going on. No doubt it looks like it should do the trick being steel. Stay away from their "biscuit alloy" rubbish. Total waste. The OMIK one I bought is a piece of art almost, beautifully machined from solid billet, strong and it's Australian made. If ever there would be a Q.A. control test, my car would be it. I reckon he'd appreciate the feedback too. Hopefully should see it a day this week.
  10. My OMIK tool is on its way Ash. I will update everyone when it arrives cos I'm keen to swap out that filter. Wish me luck !
  11. Your 100% spot on Ash. That's exactly where I purchased it from too 😁
  12. I agree. Tyres should be name brand quality. I've been using the Michelin Primacy LC tyres on my Aurion since We've owned it and I can't complain. They are very quiet and wear considerably well. If you have to pay a couple hundred more for a good set, it will be well worth it.
  13. Put it this way. Had I started using Penrite from the beginning, I probably would've stuck with it. If I remember correctly, my choice for the Nulon was that it was the spec I was looking for, also being a full synthetic, It made me feel good knowing I was supporting an Australian company. I do mine every 10k, and always under never over. Sometimes it can be around 9ish or so kays and the oil looks like it will go another 5000 kays. Not that I would, I'm not stingy when it comes to maintenance. I lavish all my cars and they love me, hahahaha...
  14. I received my new Ryco cabin filter. I figured I'd get the better one as it's only a few bucks more. Mines still got the original one. Just been cleaning it and thought it was time to replace it, even if it looks cleanish.. I think this one is far more superior than the original anyway. Ryco Microshield guys, if you're interested.
  15. I shudder the thought of ever having my car serviced at a dealer or others. They always seem to scratch, chip. mar or wreck something. My work vehicle is a prime case. I look after it like it's my own but the service guys treat them like crap, because they know it's a "Company Car"... I had to have a crack at the service guy one time for grazing the centre hub caps when removing the wheels. He puts the nuts in the huib cap and slides them under the car.. Nice one. Now they're all sporting graze marks. Now they know how to treat my car because I'll be after them lol.. Too many idiots in this world. Also the knuckleheads at the tyre centre, never use those protective nylon sockets and always scratch the wheel nut wells. Drives me crazy ! Then they over torque the wheel nuts to buggery and I have to pop a vein in my head when I have to remove a wheel. Why can't people just do a proper job.
  16. Probably a good oil to use when doing the engine flush ?? I'd drive it softly too.
  17. Thanks for the kind words, He's a good boy (sometimes lol) and is always excited when I have stuff to do outside. Always eager to pitch in and help, even if it's for 5 minutes before he runs off to investigate other distractions in our backyard. (Remember those too ?) Luckily we have a good sized backyard full of stimulus.
  18. Good memories ash yes ! I remember the old girls that needed their ball joints steering bits greased. Funny how times have changed. The breaker bar was only for removal, I promise 😊 I remember tightening it with just the 3/8 ratchet. Stupid me not realising it was ONLY supposed to be hand tight. I can be sure it's not cross threaded as I recall it spinning on nice and smoothly. I think the co**** thread makes it idiot proof 😁 Anyways, I am going to buy another housing to keep as a spare incase I have to go medieval on this one...Thanks for the tip. ***UPDATE*** Have just placed an order with Toyota for a Genuine Housing. Cheaper than the Ryco and free delivery. Can't get better than that I reckon.
  19. 0w-16. I never heard of it till now. Wow. How much thinner can they go ? It's almost like sewing machine oil hahahaha !
  20. Keep an eye out for the specials. I'll let everyone know when I see them. Stock up when the going's good I say. Happy Motoring !
  21. I tend to agree Ash. Also for those higher mileage cars, the 5w-40 makes sense, in addition to extreme driving conditions.
  22. Here's my little boy this morning who thought he'd try and get the filter housing off for me lol.. He wanted to help his Dad. Bless his heart. He's only 7.
  23. That's good to know. Thanks for that info Ash. When my new Professional tool arrives I'll give it the old heave ho and swap out my filter too. Cheers mate 👍
  24. I've just ordered this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OMIK-Steel-Professional-Oil-Filter-Tool-for-Toyota-Aurion-Rav4-Corolla/303231702791?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 The seller claims it will get it off despite my stupidly over tightening it. That cam action device is also handy to have. I have to go to Supercheap tomorrow to get other things and I might pick one up too. Ash. So when your doing the filter only scenario, how much engine oil are you losing ? I had a look this morning and it looks like the top of the housing is almost level with the top of the oil pan. So would you lose much if any oil doing this cos I would like to replace my filter seeing I couldn't when I recently did my oil service without having to drain.
  25. Damn straight !! 😁😁 I must've had too much wheat bix that day lol...
