  1. Watching Brian May of Queen on you tube, delivering his Covid - 19 message. What a great man ! Listening to while writing this..
  2. Very nice Big Mike ! 👍 Glad you enjoyed the trip and made it back safely. If it were a four cylinder, I seriously doubt it would even come close to those figures. I was always confident it would be light on fuel. Toyota built a magnificent engine in the 2GRFE. I love my Aurion !! Let it be our little secret lol...
  3. No problem. I suspect though that just clearing codes wont fix a pre existing condition. If there is a hardware issue then the code will keep getting thrown up. You may be lucky enough to have someone near you who can hook up to your OBD II and see what's going on. It will be a good starting point. Regards Tony
  4. Sometimes a crazy, hairy, large human should be enough to scare anyone off !!😂
  5. If you go to the bottom of you post on the left of screen, you'll see [+ quote edit] When you click edit, scroll right down to the end of your post and your attachments will be split across the bottom. Each file will have the bin icon in the bottom right corner when you hover over each one it will highlight the word "delete". Simply delete and then "save" your changes.
  6. I'm in Sydney, otherwise i could've helped you myself. I invested in one recently so I can do all my cars. Modern cars, it's become a necessity unfortunately. If I were you I'd look into buying one for yourself, that way you can avoid having to pay someone. You can get decent ones for a couple hundred dollars. Shop around.
  7. Repco have a sale on for Penrite ATF LV guys !! $36.39 for 4LT. I ordered 2. I also found a vendor on ebay for the service kit inc. filter, but I don't think I'll use the filter if the original is ok. I can clean it as it's a metal strainer apparently. I have to postpone my transmission service until next week end due to the Covid -19 situation. We have some projects to get through with setting up the HVAC serving the wards at the hospital, so looks like Saturday and maybe Sunday too. If not Sunday, then I'll tackle it, but it may not be.. Interesting times.
  8. Give her some TLC mate. She may forgive you someday lol.. Hope to hear back from you soon. Take care and stay safe Deyrick.
  9. You nailed it Ashley. My Aurion always gives me a sense of satifaction when I drive it, which is not that often as it's my wife's daily. On the freeway runs it's a Boss car when you need to overtake. The power delivery is effortless and smooth. I like to fly under the radar too. For me, It's the perfect family car. Unpretentious, reliable, comfortable, smooth and best of all, It's fast when you need it to be.
  10. Hi guys. Would I be correct that this procedure would also be the same for the 50 series ? Sounds like a real PITA job.. Just to replace headlight globes !! Sheesh, I never knew.
  11. Oh Deyrick, Aurions aren't the right car for donuts mate. Sorry, but karma has bitten here. Who knows what kind of damage you've done to it. You could have also damaged the CVs too. If you can get a transmission for 1k (that is if it is in fact broken), I'd jump on it cos they are usually around the 3-4k mark. Ashley you can correct me if I'm wrong. Get yourself a proper, rear wheel drive and go to town, preferably in a controlled environment such as the drag strip or something. We don't advocate dangerous driving here.. Good luck with it and let us know how you go. Cheers Tony
  12. Hahahaha yeah ! The world has gone mad. I kept saying this to my collegues years ago. My prediction has finally come to be.. It's absolutely disgraceful behaivour what we're seeing in the shops. There's plenty for everyone. There's zero chance we should go back to paper bark lol...
  13. Ok. So I got the device out and hooked it up and yes it does. I've only had it a short while and haven't really had the time to interrogate it's functionality all that much. It's not too bad actually. I can see engine oil and ATF temp both at the same time on a graph if I choose. So no fiddly bypass wire and silly maneuvering of the gear select etc and NO scangauge either. What a relief. I'll include some pics of the live data when I do the service. Have a great day everyone !
  14. Good call mate. Makes a lot of sense actually. Can I ask how you approached the fluid level check ? There are a few different ways I've noticed. I'm suspecting the laser gun approach isn't all that accurate as it measures the pan temp. Then there's the bridge wire method, then the scan gauge. Just had a thought, I wonder if my Autel MS906 BT has the transmission temp function. Have to look into that.
  15. Thank you Adrian. Looks like hand tightening from now on. Kinda like the old school filters I used to do. That Ryco item looks better made than the KIncrome. At least the were smart enough to put the 3/8" socket in the centre.. Take note Kincrome !!
  16. I think I'll do it the safe way and do the multiple drains. I'll do this one soon and maybe another this time next year ?? It's already a big production as it is hey. Let's not complicate it I guess. Thanks Ash !
  17. I had a thought and was just wondering. Say I pan drain the transmission and get the usual 2+ LT of fluid out. Would it be ok to then refit the pan, start the engine to induce more fluid from within ? My reckoning is that as the innards rotate, they will excrete fluid and ultimately find there way into the pan. Is this a possibility ? Will starting the engine and running the transmission 2+ LT short do any damage I wonder ?
  18. I came across this channel on you tube and found it really interesting. If anyone has the time take a look. This man is a fountain of knowledge, a veteran of the automotive repair industry and he sure knows his Toyota's. There are some other videos in there relating to the U660E as well.
  19. My main decision to buy this was to enable the removal of the housing, not necessarily to install it with. The 3/8" bit you're talking about Ash is the drain plug for the housing and 10 times out of 10 it will simply unscrew itself and not the housing. The tool is supposed to make your life easier. I nearly popped a vein in my head trying to loosen the damn thing off with that stupid kincrome rubbish thing. I have just received another removal tool from ebay, one that has the 3/8" socket cut into it unlike that other thing. Hopefully it will provide the purchase it requires to get it off. So hand tightening of the housing will suffice hey ? Maybe I over tightened I don't know for sure. Maybe I wound it up by hand then nipped up with the tool a bit too much. But still , the tool WAS designed to remove the filter housing no ? I'll have another crack at it soon and get back to you guys. Buy the way, The cheaper one on the left has a 26mm hex AND the 3/8" socket.. Up there for thinking I reckon !! The other cruddy one is 22mm and no 3/8" socket. Down there for dancin'...
  20. So I've been using this removal tool by Kincrome since purchasing my Aurion and slowly over time it's been getting harder and harder to remove the filter housing with this almost impossible tool. My recent oil change was the last straw. After draining the oil, I then proceeded to remove the housing the usual way, locate the tool on the housing, attach socket to breaker bar and attempt to loosen. Only this time the hex part on the tool began to round off due to the torque required to loosen this damn housing off. The socket kept slipping and I use quality sockets ! I tried several time to no avail and this left me 1 of 2 choices. Do I put the old oil back in and wait to get another tool or just fill it with fresh oil and do another change later. I chose the latter. Much to my frustration I added the 6 lt of 5w-30 Fully synthetic, gritting my teeth knowing the old filter is still in. ARRGHH !! I contacted kincrome to voice my disappointment in what was supposed to be a premium tool. It wasn't cheap either. They have since responded and that it will be covered under their lifetime warranty, so I'll take it down to an authorised seller (no receipt required) and they will assess and process the warranty claim. The bad part of this tool is that it only has a provision for a hex socket as it has no 3/8" or even a 1/2" socket cut into the centre as a plan B. The cheaper knock offs on ebay even have this. So it's a poorly conceived idea. Let this be a lesson. You can sometimes never get what you pay for, even if it's made by a reputable company. The expensive stuff can sometimes be worse than the cheaper options. I have since ordered 2 exact type of tool off ebay to be able to do a comparison and see for myself. I'll let you know the outcome. By the way, out of interest. Is there a tightening torque spec for the housing. I don't think I over tightened it either as it has an O-ring. I tighten it up until it stops then nip it up a little. That's it.
  21. There you go. That's a very kind gesture Adrian. 👍👍👍
  22. Ahh yeah, I remember that now, The sludge bucket lol..,hence your 3k oil service interval.
  23. Yes, I thought as much. I purchased a 2lt, 4lt and 5lt plastic jug and plan to use either the 4 or 5 to collect the drained fluid. These will enable a pretty accurate measurement. Whatever this will be , I'll add 200mL extra. I will also fill and drain off the new filter to saturate it to enhance the refill accuracy. So, after the initial drain, I might try and jack the car up and lower it and see if this offers up more fluid. Krigeroz did this and he got plenty more out.
  24. I think the key message here would be to change the oil regularly and use a high quality synthetic oil. 3000 kay service interval is a bit much (no offence Ash, just saying), I'm between 8 and 10 kay on mine having used a high quality synthetic oil since I've had it starting from 40,000 kays and definitely no sludge to date. It runs so sweetly.
  25. I wonder how many are left not having had it done yet.. I wonder if Toyota will just oblige and just do it or does the customer need to "remind or request" it ?? I've never actually looked for the VVT oil line. i have no idea where it is funny enough..
