  1. Thanks mate... sounds straight forward, knowing me I'd stuff it up :P Don't spose you know if there's a "seal kit" or something like that from Toyota?? Would be interesting to know...
  2. Thanks lads, Do yas have any idea on what costs I would be looking at? Hour or two... seals... ? Sounds like $150-$200 ay?
  3. Awesome, sounds like it's fixable... lol. Was thinking the worst and having to replace it or something like that... :o
  4. Yeah well considering it's been like this for... over 2 years, it should be ok :) Was just interested in the situation... don't spose you know what costs I would have in replacing these other seals?
  5. I had the car serviced today... and I've always seemed to have a minor leak coming from the Distributor O Ring... Well, the mechanic thinks it might be coming from the DIZZY ITSELF?! Possibly coming down a shaft, through the dizzy and slightly building up from there. It doesn't drip or anything, just looks oily til ya wipe it away - only have to do it every couple of months (when it's serviced again hehehe). Was told not to worry too much about it, as the oil's not building up inside and is leaking outside instead... Apparently it's common... anyone else heard of this issue before? Cheers peoples
  6. Very nice... getta see the pistons and stuff in action... noice. Is there actually a 3VZ video??? I wish they had one...
  7. You lads might wanna try a thicker oil maybe? 10w50 or something like that... Just like any oil drips, all you can do is look closely at the noise when it's happening. If not, drive over to the mechanics and get him to find out where the dripping noise is coming from?
  8. Wtf about spam bots? Is this Lisa character a Bot??
  9. Hey mate, Don't make a huge thing of it... getting worked up and all. It's a simple thing to claim something under warranty. Just take it in... tell them the problem and ask what needs to be done to fix it. They'll advise and then you'd tell them that you'd like it fixed under warranty :) No skin off their noses... that's how warranty works. People call me everyday in my industry of work claiming everything under insurance :)
  10. Don't spose you've installed any "Holy Sh!t!" bars in that thing? I swear I coulda made use with em before you even changed the tranny!!
  11. I get the squeaking thing more than anything... plastic rubbing on plastic. Similar thing. Just need to find some kind of foam to wedge in between to shut em up :)
  12. Sometimes you just can't have everything "factory". My HU stands out like dog's nads, but can't help that really. I guess if the Tom Tom GPS was black, it'd look more "factory"ish... blend in with the dash more.
  13. You're the first pensioner I know of that uses these forums! I can't see my Grandparents coming on here with their 01 Conquest :P
  14. G,day mate, welcome to the Aussie forums :) Did Adam send you over here? Lol I've seen this done on a couple of cars... didn't bother with my own, coz I don't have an issue :P Alternator, Engine and Chassis... sounds good. I ended up running an EXTRA earth cable to my chassis for my sound system. I replaced with Stinger Pos and Neg terminals and Distribution blocks. The extra Earth I ran went to a hole I found on the side of the bonnet... weird place (horizontal and all). It's next to the battery/fuse box, on the chassis... not on the inside of the engine bay, but up on the top. I have some double sided padded tape to stop the connection getting wet. I didn't notice any difference... mind you, I never had a problem in the first place :P This was more just future-proofing just in case.
  15. Normally to just top up the oil from what I know. Maybe see if the leak is dripping on the floor? Get old piece of carpet and put under the engine where you park it. I currently have a very small oil leak at the distributor O ring at the moment... every couple of months I can wipe with a rag and it's all gone. It really just does depend on how much it's leaking.
  16. I've heard of this, can be a long job to change the main seals... It's one of those ones that you can monitor it, if it starts to get worse, you'll want to fix it then for sure.
  17. Abmay, You should be able to remove the inside cover in the boot to get to the power aerial motor. That's how mine's done anyway. Worst case scenario, replace the motor, if not the whole thing. You'd at least know it's new and should work for the rest of the life of the car. I still have mine... I just can't be stuffed swapping it out coz I still have the stock aerial on the roof on the driver's side of the windscreen.
  18. I have the sideways "action" happening with the brake too... was the same in my last Camry too. My shifter doesn't move however? Mind you, mine's slightly different to others though.
  19. I'd bet any money that exhaust and CAI are classed as "performance enhancing", but I don't believe you'd require an Engineer's Cert though. Normally you only need an Engineer's cert for things like turbos, superchargers, racing seats etc.
  20. The foam/rubberish type of hose works the best for CAI - doesn't heat up anywhere near as much and heat-soak the engine. I have a very simple setup.. consists of removing the resonator, changing the smaller snorkel for a longer flex pipe which I was able to route down to the bottom of the front bar to receive cold air. I have only replaced the filter with a normal K&N Panel filter... Honestly, I don't notice too much... maybe if I changed it back to stock I'd notice sumfin though :)
  21. Dunlops are good... never heard of any issues with em. I'm currently running Goodyears on all corners (only about $130 each on special) and yeah, fixed soooo many unanswered problems from the mechanic..
  22. I will say - SPLcamry does know what works... Mind you, Anthony does too. At the end of the day, what each person says, is opinionative, and also what each person has experienced. I lean more towards Anthony with his brands than SPLCamry because I like those brands and I've also sat in the driver's seat of Anthony's car... I thought I was gonna go deaf?? lol! SPLCamry definetely knows his stuff too - as I said before, opinions and experiences... keep asking different people... go to different shops... ask what they recommend and why, why they recommend *brand 1* over *brand 2* etc. I remember looking to replace the 6x9s in the parcel shelf... Sony Xplods were around $260... JVCs were around $230. The JVCs, using the same amp sounded heaps better in the way of clarity and sharpness... so I picked them instead of the Sonys. All you can do is keep asking different people... the more info you get from different people, the more easier it becomes to make your mind up. There are online forums that will have ratings and user comments on different types of speakers too... See how ya go.
  23. I like the "except Diesel" bit hahahahaha! They NEED some kind of boost to keep up with the rest of the cars :P "Performance enhancing" - sounds like anything... CAI... exhaust... etc etc.
  24. I'd suggest wheels first... then lower. You can lower and keep the same shocks, but you'll destroy the shocks quicker (if they're not already gone in the first place). Tint is an awesome mod... it's not one that stands out, but makes the car overall look nice and keeps the car cool on the inside. Don't worry about the CAI - Won't make stuff all difference. A K&N panel filter would be a nice change though... better airflow for the engine anyway. The only reason why you'd buy a Pod filter is for the "fully sic noise uleh" when it's sucking the air in. You'll have to mount the Pod properly and also needs to be concealed to be considered legal - this also depends on which state you live in. I've done heaps of cosmetic mods... interior, tail lights, side indicators, custom front indicators... this and that. Works a treat for me. I've got things like a bonnet cover, genuine cup holders, aftermarket transmission torque rod... full sound system... just stuff. Oh yeh, exhaust? You got the 4 banger right? Hurricane and Wildcat make headers for these engines... conbine with say, a 2 inch exhaust all the way through with a large twin tip on the end... would sound pretty nice.
  25. Nothing wrong with Earthquake!! Each to their own at the end of the day :) Image Dynamnics... didn't know the sub was THAT cheap?? Considering their quality anyway. They go extra hard after seeing Anthony's one anyway. Anthony.. post up a pic of your boot install :P
