The closest thing that has been done ECU wise is an Xede piggyback as far as I've heard. This probably wouldn't give you everything that you are looking for though if you plan to run a turbo. If you want to go any more extreme than the Xede, you are going to have to be the pioneer of it for us here.

Shhhh. You'll scare off my future victims.

It's a trap. He will drag you back to his place and you'll end up having to watch a DVD of them. j/k.

Rear sway bar mounts are one thing to check. Another is anything tied in with the suspension. Basically, it's not something that you can probably diagnose without seeing/hearing it first hand. Another ting that you can get is if the tire iron or jack lever becomes loose. Had that happen a couple of times and it bangs against the spare tire well in the boot. Sounds like the rear is going to fall apart, but it's just something simple. Worth checking that out just in case while you are at it.

All those lights specified (except of the window "AUTO' light) are surface mount LED's. I haven't got a count of exactly how many there, and I'm not sure if Steven has all of the specifics either. All I can say is that your best bet is to pull it all apart and work on it from there. Basically a majority of your speedo/climate control/some of the head unit will be this type of LED (PLCC2) and then others used would be of this variety (1206 SMD). As for pulling each component apart, if you can't figure out how to do that one yourself, then I don't even think changing the LED's is going to be something you should attempt. As for how to access each component, instead of providing instructions for every single thing, you are best looking through the service manuals and working from there: Gen 6 Service Manuals To give you an idea of what is involved for the speedo alone, have a look at the following photo. It's different to the Optitron gauge used in the Aurion, but similar idea.

Actually, Steven is right. If you had read before making assumptions, you would find that it is just the engine cover from a TRD. As well, like Steven said, the emissions issue can be fixed if you put the effort into it. Fair enough, but this doesn't make your first statement any more true (where you said "You can't turbo the 2GR-FE engine"). If someone wants to modify their car and spend ridiculous amounts of money on doing so... then so be it. Where there is a will, there is a way, and I doubt space will be an issue for someone keep to fit a turbo on a Rav4.
-
Judging from the way the intake pipe goes, the turbo would probably be mounted in the only other place I would imagine. Low mounted near the rear bank.

There is no 'store' that specialises in the Aurion as such. The closest you will get to a place that supports the 2GR-FE is Monkey Wrench Racing (MWR). They only have a few bits though and these are primarily aimed to those that do the 2GR -> MR2 conversion: http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/index.php?cPath=318&osCsid=ponhsophokour1v49h2ec22t96 Apart from that, you are on your own to find bits and pieces. For example, you can buy yourself a Haltec or other aftermarket ECU from any place that supplies them, then figure out how to wire it in.

Ahem.... Try telling that to this guy: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=347378 Or the guys over at Cobb Tuning:

My X10 would occasionally do the same when I want to download apps. It sometimes would sit there waiting and can take up to a few minutes before it decides to start. On those occasions, I open up a browser window and browse to a web page. For me, when it starts to download data elsewhere (even from just loading a page), it's enough for the Market app to get it's act together and realise that there is actually a connection open.

It's showing as changed on my end. I'm using Firefox. Maybe you need to clear your cache in Firefox if it's bugging you and still showing your original avatar. Just go 'Tools -> Clear Recent History'.

Usually you can find that out in your local paper.

Doesn't seem strange to me. Since since when are manufacturer's claims correct You never really know exactly what they did to test the fuel consumption.

Was a good night as always. Mountain cruise was certainly fun. My apologies again for my driving Steven. I failed to state that my driving is more like (as Mick stated) a psychotic mental patient. Was probably not what you were expecting. I have also learnt that my TRD is getting rather annoyed with me pushing her around a mountain. First she decided to have a spasm where the throttle was killed for a good few seconds (after what sounded like her leaning out and misfiring in quick succession), then she decides to ping for a brief moment some time later. Well that's what it sounded like.... a metal on metal tapping sound when the throttle was pushed past 1/2 way.

best car over all !!!!!!.............................NOT............

O....M....F....G Why would someone do that? Someone has posted a photo of the rear of that thing on here before. I can't find it, but thanks for giving clearer photos of it. -
^ Oh dear god. If I met (and started going out with) the girl that drives that without seeing her car, then later learn that she drives such a thing, I would so have to dump her.

Well the way I see this is that an ex-rental that has been taken care of (in terms of correct service intervals etc) shouldn't be any more worse off mechanically than another used Aurion of the same age. Most of the wear and tear on these cars are cosmetic as everything else is pretty solid, provided it is serviced regularly. If anything serious is to have happened (like the VVT-i oil line issue or the steering knock), it would have more than likely happened already. If the problem isn't there, it either indicates it has been kept well, or the problem has been fixed.
-
Welcome to the forum. Remember... search is your friend. Using the term 'ex-rental' just like you have included in your title, the search function has found the following thread. Have a read through there firstly. would you buy an ex-rental? Just note that in that thread, when I/we are referring to my car being ex-rental, it's referring to my old Sportivo SX6.

After driving 701km today going to Hervey Bay -> Mooloolaba -> Back home, the thought of going to the Sunny Coast really makes me want to throw up right about now... .... but that said, I'll be over it tomorrow, so count me in. Also, mid/late afternoon trip home sounds good as I'm starting to get really ****** off with the amount of 4WD's coming back from the North Coast with either badly aimed headlights or have their back filled with crap that makes their lights shine up at you. When it is enough to annoy me through my 18% tint... it is definitely bad. /rant.

If you can't control your aggression etc when there are others on the road travelling under the speed limit, then you really have to take another look at yourself and question why you can't just take a step back and relax. Sure enough people travelling under the speed limit agitates me, but at the end of the day, they aren't in the wrong... I'm the one being a d***. It's called a speed limit for a reason. Just because the sign says '60', it does not mean that you must travel on 60km/h. The speed limit defines "... the maximum speed in km/h that you may drive your vehicle on the road in good conditions."*. Sure it can be dangerous travelling too slow on the road and it is something you can get fined for as well, but within reason, 10% under isn't dangerous. Plus added to the fact that your car isn't the only one on the road where the speedo is off like it is. * Quoted from "Your Keys To Driving in Queensland", page 68. The definition is universal though.

Spotted Matt (mattmcd1) at 7:40am heading north on the Bruce Highway (yes... the M1 Dee). Followed him for the 16 minutes it took to get from the Wild Horse Mountain exit to the Maroochydore exit where I continued on north.

Quite a valid point you have there. I have to say that if it wasn't for the last person I was 'hoping to know better', I wouldn't be in the same shape I am now. That's what I call good motivation.

Here's my stupid question: Why do girls have to be so damn difficult to understand?
