Oh dear God. Just goes to show you have to be careful which Asians you pick up.

At least you guys are getting paid by the ATO and not the other way around like some of us.

Just because the Aurion is based off the Gen 6 Camry wheelbase, it doesn't make the Gen 6 Camry less of a boat. The Gen 5 still feels more solid on the road than the Gen 6 Camry or the Aurion... and part of this comes from the fact that the wheelbase is smaller than that of the Gen 6 and Aurion. As for the torque steer comment... whatever makes you sleep better at night trying to justify why you personally think your Camry is better.

Okay, since it is now official that I shall be attaining moderator privileges soon, I figured I may as well get a head start on this. Now the purpose of this thread is for you members to post any moderating requests. Sure enough you can PM them to me, but in order to keep it less personal and more as a 'site suggestion' you can just post it here. It will also save on filling my inbox with a lot of whinging For example, if you come across a thread that you think is getting out of control or you think should be moved/deleted, just mention here what your thoughts are and I'll attend to it next I'm on. One such scenario would be if you think the 'SPAM Thread' in the Aurion forum belongs in the Club Lounge. This is something I would like to see moved, but I just feel that if I send a PM to a mod, it would seem like I'm just being a whinger. Plus, it saves on having to make small talk (ie. how are you, sorry to annoy you, etc etc) when all you want to do is something simple. Instead, posting it here feels more like a suggestion and it feels a little more comfortable... if you get where I'm coming from. So with that said, here is the thread... feel free to make your suggestions. Just remember that there are limits and I can't just fine tune the board to be perfect. It still is a forum after all.

No Toyota in Australia... including the TRD is affected by any current recall. Whoever mentioned about such recall is well mis-informed. Funnily, the first I heard of a TRD Aurion recall was a comment from (surprise, surprise) Sara (sketra) in response to a post Will made on Facebook.

I still have time to relax... my moderator privileges haven't been enabled yet

Still going good. Haven't noticed anything difference in terms of how the heatsoak affects the 'performance' since any gain there would be rather small. It does still keep it cool though. For example, after a mountain run, I can hold my hand on the S/C for about 8 seconds before it is too hot to touch. Previously, it would burn immediately.

Cheers guys. Thanks for the support. Once my mod rights get processed, that new 'avill' spambot is going to go.

Yeah, that's the other big letdown. So sorry to disappoint, but I don't think the Gen 6 qualifies to fit into the 'best of them all' category.

Don't you think he is asking for a little too much?

I think the idea is quite good. Because you are then essentially creating a cleaner merge in the same small space you are given. I'm no expert on the matter though, but the only potential issue I could imagine would be to do with turbulence and potentially creating more back pressure than normal. With the pipe 'firing' from the side, because it is essentially directed perpendicular to the flow of the other pipe, there may be more back pressure on that side... if you get what I'm trying to say. Looks quite similar to what Andrew (apg39) and Rowan said on the first page of this thread - but Ill be able to see what kind of angle is possible once I can get under the car instead of taking pictures as reference. Your pictures are the right idea, but cos the 2 pipes are already squashed, you'd need a new straight section from the front header to the cat, then cut a scallop in the side for the rear header to be welded into. Another dodgey Paint illustration.... (angles aren't correct)

I would have to disagree with your statements. Personally... using your comparison, I would call the Gen 6 a 'water bed'. In comparison to the Gen 5, the Gen 6 feels like it is less connected with the road and spongy. driving a Gen 6 is like driving a Gen 3 while wearing one of those inflatable sumo costumes.

If you go to the gym and/or sweat a bit in summer, steer clear of woollen seat covers .

Very good point. Completely didn't think about that (obviously). Makes sense though considering my last car was the SX6.

Cheers mate. It's just one of those curiosity things. I figured my Sportivo was built close to the same date as my TRD and the "COLUMN ASSY, STEERING" was of a lesser part number "45250-06510". One would think that the TRD would have been fitted with the same part number, not the one I mentioned above "45250-06520". If that's the case, I was trying to think why it would be changed on mine. As for the intermediate shaft... well I just got home after picking my TRD up around 10pm as estimated. All I can say is that: 1) My alignment is fixed. Prior to this, the steering had a minor tilt anti-clockwise when travelling straight. Then again, it's last alignment was at 18,000km. 2) The steering feels like it has less play in it, and 3) There is no knocking sound. But based on what happened last service, 2 and 3 are probably just a placebo thing. On inspection of the new shaft (sorry I don't have photos to properly show this), the most significant difference I have noticed visually is that the universal joint on it has more durable looking bushes on it. I would be guessing that this would be to eliminate any potential play that can come from there and maybe cause some noise. Either way, 7 days out of warranty and I now have a new intermediate shaft. Everything was handled so smoothly and I am one satisfied customer.

^ Now that's a pinstripe that would work. Looks about 50x better than the single line. I will state my opinion. At first the red wheels didn't quite do it for me. It was quite bold and over the top. That's not necessarily bad, but it's enough to make one form an instant opinion. Over time though, the look started to settle in, and now I actually like it. It's more like an aquired taste. I can understand why people can dislike it, and that's fine by them if they do. ... It just has to be combined with lowering springs to fit in perfectly. And my last thought. To me it looks like you are trying to do a whole combination of cheap things to make your car look better. My advice is that if you are trying to do that, just wait and save, then spend a little more to do it right the first time. I'm not saying you have to go all out and spend a lot on things, but like the pinstripe, spending just a little bit more can mean the difference between a cheap looking single stripe, and the good looking twin stripe with TRD logo like dutchie has suggested.

Just an update on this. Only 8 days after first dropping my TRD off, I get a phone call earlier on this evening at 6:20pm from my service advisor telling me that my Intermediate Shaft has arrived. I tell him that I should probably book it in then for the next available evening session. He then tells me that it's a reasonably quiet night tonight and he can fit it for me tonight if I want. I then tell him that I can be there in 25 minutes. He says "done". So that's about it really. I just got home after dropping my TRD off and by about 10-10:30pm tonight, she should be finished. Now that's service that I am truly satisfied with.

I don't want to be rude, but what is with the influx of all the threads on the board here that would be better suited to the 'Members Rides' section? I think a cleanup of the Aurion forum is needed.
-
This is what I did ever since I changed the rotors on my last Aurion. Never got a vibration issue ever again. Could also be with the combination of the better rotors, but I still did it either way. Last thing I wanted to do was warp them like the last. I also try to take my foot off the brakes whenever possible like when I am on a level surface.
-
I've seen quite a few young ladies around here driving Aurions. I wouldn't be so quick on making assumptions. Also seen some lady (who appeared to be in her 30's) driving a white TRD around on two occasions. She looked fitting to the car so I would presume it was hers.

EBAY Trd charger for sale
DJKOR replied to CME-LFT's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
Fair call as well. But that's where this thread comes into play. How many times have you seen a TRD Aurion TVS for sale externally from Toyota? There was that one time on eBay a couple of years back for $1800, then there was Matt's friend in Brisbane (who would have been looking for more than $2k), and now there is this one for $1000. So when you consider that new from Toyota you would be looking at $4800+ for the charger only, maybe this is why you don't see the TRD charger conversions happening. At $4800 for the charger alone, this is definitely where you would say it's cheaper to turbo. But then for the level of custom work required with no prior knowledge on doing it to this engine, this is where people will most likely draw the line. Then with realistically only one opportunity in the past to obtain the charger for cheap, then this is why no one has done it yet. And that charger was never fitted because of the additional costs I would be guessing. -
EBAY Trd charger for sale
DJKOR replied to CME-LFT's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
this. Put it this way. No one has really done sh** to a N/A Aurion in terms of boosting it. How many fu**en times have I heard people saying "a custom turbo would be so much cheaper" etc etc. If it's cheaper/more cost efficient, then why the f*** haven't we seen anyone do it yet? There is always so much talk, but never any action. Someone may see this $1000 charger as a safer alternative to boosting their Aurion because once they add whatever extras, they can be more sure that it will work without fail. In addition to that, at least with the charger like this one being offered, it's one step closer to the end result of a boosted Aurion. Each to their own, but cost efficient or not, I don't imagine a turbo Aurion happening any time soon. -
