1) The socket itself is moulded into the ashtray compartment and removing it will make it become a bit of a mess. 2) You will still need to run separate wires for it because the current ones for it are loomed with all the other wires for various other things and it would be easier to run new cable instead of removing all the cable loom and re-running the existing wiring.

As said, yours may vary. In this case, good if it lasts you longer. And $300 for a battery doesn't surprise me when considering this is what Toyota had quoted at one point in time. It's just like how Toyota asked $27 for a replacement battery for the Smart Entry remote, when you could get the same battery from Jaycar for $4. Or how Toyota can charge you $600 for a single tail light that is nowhere near that value.

I would say go for the Android. Only problem with your phone choice there with the Legend is that it has a rather crap screen resolution. Personally I would suggest to spend just that little bit extra and get the Samsung Galaxy. That is a pretty hot phone on the market right now and I must say it is pretty good. But I also think it is hyped up to be better than what it is. It's still good though, but I wouldn't call it ground breaking or anything like that. But if I had to choose from your 3 choices there, despite the reception issues that can occur, I'd go for the iPhone 4.

At the end of the day, I personally would think that the $240 annual fee is a bit of a waste of money when you can get roadside assistance for as little as around $74 per annum and it can do most of what Toyotalink is there to offer. Each to their own. And here's something for you. The backup battery in the Toyotalink will eventually go flat. One person has quoted about 3 years, but yours may vary. I'm on 65,000K and still using factory tyres. These things never want to wear out. Still heaps of decent meat on them. Yeah, but you most likely don't drive like I do. Remember... I went through a set of Adrenalins in 18,000km.

That's the rate I usually go through tires, hence me being surprised. I can't really comment on my driving. All I will say is that tires shouldn't last that long for me. Maybe the fact that the tires themselves are now just over 3 years old plays some part? They've gone hard so to speak?

It has only just dawned on me that after 50,547km of driving, my two rear Dunlop Sport Maxx tires are the original tires that came with the car out of the factory. They aren't even on their wear indicators yet. Considering all the mountain runs I've done combined with my driving style, I'm quite surprised that I managed to get this much distance out of a pair of tires. They have spent 10,000km on the front of the car as well.

I wouldn't worry Andrew. You can't change a persons opinion. I agree with you that the Camry will never have street cred... only just a niche thing. Even the Aurion doesn't have street cred. It's funny that you posted that. For the last 10 minutes or so after seeing your Facebook post, I've been YouTubing this stuff. I remember all the SMD stuff from a while back... specifically the following (which you can see in the second video you posted): I also remember all the Team Toxic Bass stuff from years back, but things have been massively increased since then.

There is a fair few spaces, but depending on how busy it is you may need to park a little down the road. Still would only equate to a minute or two of walking. I'm always there in one car, so parking is always easy

I can understand the feeling of getting a repaired TRD back where it isn't the same as when you started off with it. Same goes with knowing that someone else has thrashed it without you knowing how. It's just like something isn't quite right anymore. I guess one way you could look at it though is that you mentioned that you took it in for the 75,000km service right? Well in that case, if the engine was damaged to the point that they will replace it, at least you are now getting a newer engine. Still doesn't feel quite right, but just trying to think positive. My TRD is now going to be serviced solely by me now (or specialists which I can trust for those things I can't do), so it feels good in a way to have a bit more control over it now.
