1. I still use the self-service car washes, except instead of scrubbing the car with the foam brush, I hold it away from the car surface and let it dispense the foam onto the car. Then once that is done, I use a microfibre wash mitt that I take along with me to clean the car.
2. You have to make sure you get them in 19's:
3. BAH!! You stole my idea!!!! http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22478&st=0&p=328898 Nah, that's cool. Just claiming rights to the idea  Good work though. Definitely a clean job you've done there.
4. There are actually 4 bolts along the lower section which hold the rear part on. Once you remove this, things will now get slightly more difficult. Usually on most cars, the rear section of the seats just hook on at the top at three points. Well... the Aurion does the same, but whoever designed it also thought of making the hooks clip in. This will mean that once all 4 bolts are removed, you will need to push up from the bottom with quite a bit of force. And for future reference as well, for those that need it, you can find instructions on how to remove the seats here: http://www.camrystuff.com/manuals/Gen6/2GR-FE/Seat.pdf Just follow it from page 'SE-74' (page 80 as per the PDF numbering) onwards. This doesn't help much for the rear part of the seat, but people tend to get stuck with the lower part.
5. Plenty of joyrides available for all tomorrow. This is why I have my 20% worn Dunlop Sport Maxx's at the front and my soft, expensive Yokohama's on the rears. I personally don't like the Dunlops, so I'd rather use them than chew through the Yoko's. Mick gets the first run though
6. Nah... save the wash for when the Annual Meet comes up. That when it won't be moving at speeds (well for a period of it anyways) where we can't see the dirt
7. I'll definitely be heading out tomorrow night... unless no one wants to see me If anyone was to bring a camera as well.... I'd be a happy man. If you were able to take a couple of shots for me Michael, that would be magnificent... and considering you photos were last on my signature.
8. "M Style"... You may be the first one here to point those out. Will be interesting to hear if anyone has actually fitted them. One thing I don't like about their mesh grill though is that it retains a Toyota logo in the centre. Personally, I liked the R Style mesh grill because it removed the Toyota logo which made the car seem more mysterious. I also reckon those eyelids would look completely wrong in anything but the right angle. The angle the photo is taken, you can see how the curves follow the light. I'd imagine from any other angle, the curves would mismatch and look a bit strange.
9. Well, it's been a busy few days or so, but I've finally managed to get the bulk of everything completed. My main priority was to get the Safety Certificate so I could then go and fix the registration up, but arriving on the start of a long weekend kind of pushed things back a little. Then I was told that two of my tires weren't considered safe due to blisters on the sidewall (ooops on my behalf for not paying attention) so I had to get two new tires today as well. 19's sure look good, but man, the rubber doesn't exactly come cheap if you want it to do something for you. In future, I am going to order my tires online from places where I can save some coin. Anyways, the tires I put on are Yokohama S.drive's. I don't like the soft compound of the Yoko's, but I just wanted to sort this out ASAP. So after all that was sorted, I finally got down to Queensland Transport and fixed up my registration. South Australian standard issue plates are gone and Aimee is now sporting some 'DJKOR' plates. Everything is starting to feel more natural. So since I got back into Brisbane on Friday, I've managed to do a full clean inside and out, and install: - A GPS head unit - An amp an sub - Ultra Racing front strut brace and rear sway bar - TRD panel filter - HID's - LED interior lights These were things that luckily had faster shipping on eBay which I ordered last week, or were conveniently located in Brisbane (thanks David). Apart from that, there is nothing else that has occurred. I am way overdue for photos (I know that), but I will take some when I next get a chance. Now that I have my plates on her, photos will be more suitable. And boy does she still put a smile on my face every time I put my foot down. The difference between a standard Aurion is quite noticeable. And with my front snorkel removed and my TRD panel filter, the supercharger's quiet whine is actually now noticeable... just not as much as I would wish.
10. While continuously trying to work against my immune system (which is telling me to rest), I finally got all the odds and ends finished on my car. Today I got my sub up an running, got the wiring all finished for the reverse camera so I just have to fit said camera, fitted my HID's, got myself two new expensive tires (damn 19 inch wheels) and got my rego all sorted. Now I have the DJKOR plates on and it feels just about right.
11. To et you started before I manage to take photos: You will find three screws on the top lip of the glove box where the box itself closes against. Open your glove box to remove these. Then close your glove box, and remove that plastic kick panel to the left of the passenger footwell. Look carefully and you will find a bolt hiding under there, and a screw on the opposite side.
12. Most likely was me. I was on the Cunningham Highway around that time heading home. The possibility of another silver TRD on the road around the same place around the same time would have been pretty fairly low, so it looks like you were first to spot me in Queensland. There sure were a fair few 4WD's heading the opposite way to me that morning.
13. You won't see the 'PM' or 'Add Friend' icon under your own avatar when you are logged in yourself. Every other user can see them though.
14. My guess is that it may be a wire or two and/or a connector for said wires. There are quite a few of them that run across in that area and if they were to come loose from the electrical tape that is holding it up, they can tap against the top of the clove box or the metal support beam. Easiest way to find out is as said, and remove the glove box and have a look for yourself. Then you can either tie any loose cables up or wrap them in foam.
15. This feature is usually called "Remote Gain". If you see an amp with this feature... this is what you will be getting. Essentially, you set you gain to the right level on the am, then the Remote Gain controls the level between Minimum, and the Maximum that was set by the gain on the amp. Useful feature IMO. I have it on my amp.
16. You can if you want, but I would imagine they would tell you that everything is fine. After all, petrol does contain sulphur, some more than others depending how it's refined.
17. Yay, another Queensland member. Go Queensland and the Aurion team On topic though, a common issue that involves a clunking/knocking sound is the 'Intermediate Steering Shaft' issue. Usually you should be able to hear this when driving slowly though so this may not necessarily be the case. Other possible issues I've heard of are the steering rack ends or the steering rack mounts. Alternatively, something may just be loose and require tightening. If you aren't mechanically minded to be able to fully inspect your car to isolate this knocking sounds, then a good suggestion would be to take it to a suspension specialist (Fulcrum would be one that I recommend... and conveniently in QLD), and see if they can do an inspection for you to find what is playing up. How many km's are on the clock as well?
18. The only time I got that smell was for the next day or two after getting some exhaust work done, or once or twice after filling up, which I then concluded it was dodgy fuel.
19. Paul Van Dyk - Crush http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frZA90vACd4 Edit: Well, I jsut found out that with the new forum update, you add YouTube videos by either clicking on the 'Add Media' icon above the post text box, or using the tag and the full YouTube address.
20. Today I ran all the power/audio/video (for reverse camera) cables, and mounted my amp and sub in preparation for my head unit install when it arrives. That way I simply plug the head unit in etc and I will be ready to go. I may not have my sub running in the meantime, but I am willing to wait due to the fact I've been driving around lately with my stereo off so I can listen to the engine. Well I have replaced the mesh with just the standard mesh like what was on my last mesh grill, but this is only because it looked really really empty without anything there. This is only a temporary solution though. The TRD mesh is so much better in comparison plus I want to retain that stock look of the TRD being the car that it is. I will go into Toyota on Tuesday and see if I can order the replacement part. I would seriously wonder how many pieces like this they would have remaining. Definitely a a smart idea. Or I can use SILVABULLET's idea to use contact to cover it just for the interstate trip. But my main problem here wasn't the bumper itself, it was everything behind it. Bugs managed to find their way through the grill and into the radiator and in every nook and cranny that exists behind the bumper. I had never experienced such a case of bugs before, but I think this was due to the road I was travelling (Barrier Highway) which was more outback than any road I'd travelled before. Also had Emu's and Sheep crossing the highway which was also new. Still though, in future, I may do what I saw others travelling the road were doing. Putting that green fruit fly mesh over the entire front bumper. That way the radiator still gets air and all the bugs (well their shells anyway) get stopped by the mesh.
21. You do make a valid point that I didn't consider though. When it comes to tapping into the wiring harness to switch on the relay, it makes perfect sense to tap into it from the fuse panel/distribution panel located behind the glove box where the relay is fitted. This would keep everything neat. Only issue though would be finding the right wires since this panel has pretty much every wire for the car electrics on it. But if you could find it, it certainly would work.
22. I'm definitely going to be there since I am obviously back in Brisbane now. Just hoping I can get this Safety Certificate* sorted out on Tuesday so I can fix up my registration. * Most likely of the dodgy variety because my tints are seriously dark and I don't quite have the resources to fix it up for another week or two.
23. ^ Wow! That sure is mighty shiny there Danny. A nice clean example of a Sportivo. Keep up the good work. Everything will fall into place; just have to be patient.
24. Yeah, your general mechanic only does stuff relating to the engine and the driving of the car. Stuff like your stereo, speakers, etc are taken care of by an Automotive Electrician. Much like how a builder does not do the electrical cabling when constructing a house. Anyways, I'm not sure who in the Melbourne area would have the most competitive rates; this would most likely be an independent automotive electrician. Otherwise, to get stuff fitted as mentioned, places like JB Hi-Fi, WOW, etc usually offer installation services.
